This is my alumacraft 1436 with a Mercury 9.9 hp 4 Stroke doing a top speed run. With a 9.5 pitch propeller it can get up to 21 mph.

This is the video proof that i didn't know I was looking for! Very informative! a couple questions.... do you have a link for that 9.5 pitch prop? Did you do any 9.9hp to 15 or 20 hp carburetor upgrade during this speed run? Also, did you notice any side effects to the motor (run hot, harder, etc)?

Just the prop is upgraded. Everything else is original merc. Got the prop from boaters island . Com Its a quick silver prop

Man brother I have a 15hp 4 stroke on my 1436 and I think it's too much. In perfect conditions with just me, I have been able to hit 26mph. It will still do 23-25 with 2 people. But if I'm wide open and get hit by a gust of wind, the boat drifts pretty hard. I think the 9.9 is perfect for a 1436.

Yeah 15 is great if the boat is fully loaded but if just a little bit of weight only...the 9.9 is fine

Wow, that's amazing speed! I got a 2016 Mercury 20HP to push GRIZZLY 1648 only gets to 10 mph with one person on board. What could the issue, and recommended area to check?
