Another great video! Never go wrong listening to Jason. BTW Weller Green Label chasers …. That Green River Wheated blows WGL away and that GR sits on shelves. Blind them and you’ll see. PLUS, you can play quarters game with the GR bottle!
I had not picked up a little book since chapter 3, so I was nervous when I picked up chapter 7, but I had heard good things, and man, it did not disappoint, just fantastic stuff!
Awesome that you put Jefferson’s Tropics in this video, Jason. This bottle was fastest kill of the year. I was shocked how much I enjoyed it. I won’t be buying a second bottle because of the price, but I will miss that flavor profile dearly.
I passed on a Little Book chapter 7 at a liquor store locally for $249. Got lucky and found a bottle at Costco for $99. Looking forward to cracking it open soon. 🥃 Cheers.
Awesome list. I’m drinking the Remus highest rye now and it’s great, hope it doesn’t get too hyped and disappear. Editor’s note: the mash bill is 10% malted rye, not malted barley.
Was going to comment this myself. The reason it is highest rye is because it is 49% rye, meaning the rye and malted rye are counted together toward that percentage.
Under $100 and available. You have my attention. Try any of the Saints Alley batches, Jefferson Single Barrel, Wilderness Trail sweet mash bourbon, Old Forester Statesman. Thank you.
Great list! Love the Penelope 9 and have two Origin bottles and a Pinhook 8 already en route from Seelbach’s. Really liked the Pinhook 7 so eager to try the 8. And I’ve passed by the Remus high rye a few times but will definitely pick it up now.
Not usually a Jefferson’s fan or game for paying $100 for a bottle but the Jefferson’s tropics is amazing. Someone brought it to a bottle share and it was the first bottle drained.
You gotta check out some of Rock Town’s stuff. They have like 30 different kinds of whiskeys ranging from bourbon, rye, single malt and peated selections
No! Don’t mention the Origin series from Bardstown! It’s one of my favorites and now you gonna make it hard to find! Thanks a lot🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱. Shout out to our vets!
I don't think it's a cash grab. Certainly they are a little more expensive, but at least what I've had from them tastes like pretty quality whiskey. I think they are doing pretty interesting blending. I like them and Doc Swinson's. I also appreciate Barrell's transparency. Blue Run is a brand that I see as just a cash grab.
Always appreciate the Corbin Cash Love! The regular barrel proof offering, 1917, was for sale on seelbachs and sharedpour for a while so somewhat available nationally. Also nice Pride Of Anderson County just casually on the barrel behind you 👍
Im just glad I got a backup of the Larceny before your video came out haha. Great list, keeping my eye out for that Remus High Rye. Youre doing these distilleries a great service by giving them a more trustworthy and reliable endorsement than some of these Whiskey Advocate scores.
The fact that R&S is releasing their own juice under Remus label is pretty great! Makes things easier for me, instead of searching through all these other brands who source. Plus, I figure they use the good barrels for their own brand, why wouldn’t they?
My biggest surprise this year was Wanderback Batch 5 American single malt. Distilled by Balcones in Texas then barreled and aged in Hood River Oregon. It's young, but doesn't taste it. To me it's like a sweet, extra fruity iced coffee.
Im always looking for value and my surprise whiskey was Ezra brooks distillers collection. I found for $30! Single barrel, 107 proof, and 6 years old. Unbelievable stats for price and delishes
Slightly disagree, I prefer the original Green River over the wheated, but I always have both. I have recently been going through WheelHorse, the distillery that makes Green River, but younger, 101 proof. I Love the Remus Highest Rye mashbill, and recently got my first bottle of Lost Monarch Cask Strength, love that. I would also add the Peerless double oaked rye to that list, not sure if it hit Ohio yet. New Riff Balboa Rye makes my list!
My biggest surprise bourbon this is Garrison Brothers Cowboy I have not liked any of their stuff before because I thought it was all way overpriced. But I would pay up to 400 bucks for this years cowboy it blew my socks off. I very happy I got it for 299
I prefer the good ol' days of youtube whisk(e)y reviewing that was individual and honest. Now we're making concessions where amenities don't exist. In essence, it makes me wonder how people are paid off by the industry IN GENERAL, not any company in particular, and then how mabe reviewers just want more things to be good, but the truth is pretty much everything is a thumbs down. This is bourbon we're talking about, not some diverse industry like scotch.
The name change from MGP to the utterly forgettable “Ross & Squibb” is classic corporate stupidity or an earnest desire to help them stay under the radar screen. If the latter, bravo! 😅
