I think I most disagree about Egwene, would bump her further down the list. Was shocked to see her above Nynaeve, who's more powerful, has a paralis-net, uses the Choedin-Kal, heals stilling and madness, and participates in cleansing Saidin and sealing the Bore. Egwene by contrast is a decent fighter and uses a lesser s'angreal.
You probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Angelo Eduardo thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@@NaeBlis I was about to give out to this comment for being very harsh and unfair over a little mistake. Until I spotted that it was just you being self-deprecating.
I'd be putting Nynaeve in the #2 slot. She cured stilling, the madness, developed a far more effective method of curing that used all the elements, is described as being stronger in the OP than both Elayne and Egwene, and linked with Rand to help cleanse Saidin. Yea sure, Egwene figured out how to counter the effects from Balefire. Both took on forsaken and won. Nynaeve's accomplishments outnumber Egwene's.
Seemed like a good rating system. Maybe not as technically accurate as the Recappa Meter, but only stormtrooper blasts (on a Sandcrawler) are so accurate.
Love your content! I recently (less than a month ago), finished the entire WOT series (including New Spring) [in less than a year]. I am enjoying watching through your RED ALERT Spoiler content now that I can!!! Thanks so much!
Nice job, your Aviendha hashtags had me dying of laughter and I couldn't explain to my family cause they haven't read the series. 😂😂 Great video as always! I had a thought that a fun video to do might be ranking the best politicians/leaders in the series. I'm right in the middle of Elayne trying to gain the throne and Egwene dealing with the Aes Sedai and I'm constantly in awe of how skilled they are. Just a thought!
I'm disappointed you left out a couple of Egwene's crazier feats: she invents a weave that counters balefire, and she literally holds the world together in the last battle - where the ground was cracking apart to show void beneath, she fills it with crystal. Nynaeve figured out how to heal male channelers of the taint's madness, but Egwene figured out how to heal the pattern itself!
I like this break down much better than the previous ones. Not even for the obvious production quality improvements, but the categories were hands down much better and the ranking system was solid, probably the best you’ve done yet!
I wonder how Narishma would do on your scoring system. No Asha’man spent more time with Rand than him. He is just behind Logain in raw strength but think of the skill and knowledge he picked up watching Rand. I think Egwene belongs outside the top 5.
In the last battle, Egwene holds the world together - countering balefire and literally keeping the ground from crumbling into void. Only Rand himself, post-Dragonmount, shows the same ability to counter the Dark One's influence on the world.
@@rmsgrey I don't think her achievements in the one power hold a candle to Nynaeve. Plus the weave can be duplicated so everyone can do it. Sure she came up with it, but Nynaeve came up with whole new way of healing. Not just one weave. It's nowhere close to what Rand can do from just being alive.
@@blainesmith7424 Others can, and do, learn and improve on Nynaeve's approach to healing. None of the rebel Aes Sedai can match Egwene at making cuendillar, and we don't find out whether any can even attempt to match her counters to balefire and the unravelling of the Pattern. Nynaeve may have healed bodies and minds (though she's not the only one to independently come up with a way to heal stilling) but Egwene healed the very fabric of reality. Yes, Egwene needs the One Power to do what The Dragon Reborn does by simply willing it, but no-one's arguing that she's a more effective channeler for the Light than Rand. Ultimately, Nynaeve has more raw power, but the biggest feats she's involved in are ones where she's linked with whoever's actually wielding the power, so she never really gets a chance to show what she's capable of outside of healing.
@@rmsgrey Sanderson says her counter to balefire was witnessed by someone for duplication. Her being able to make trinkets, jewelry and chains better than the novices in the rebel camp isn't enough imo to put her at number 2. I don't mean to trivialize her cuendillar making but it doesn't compare to Elayne making Angreal or half of what Nynaeve achieved. You really simplify Nynaeve's contributions at the cleansing, sure she is linked with Rand but it would have failed with Egwene with him. I know Egwene's feats I've read the series a few times she is a force, certainly. Just not a top 5 worthy force for me. Her Elayne and Avienda should be tied at 7 ish.
@@blainesmith7424 Egwene might not have been able to channel the amount of Saidar needed for the Cleansing (has that been officially stated, or is it just an interpretation?) but there are others who could have - Alivia, for one. All that was needed from the female part of that task was to be able to channel enough Saidar, and be willing to link with Rand and let him control the link. There's a recurring theme in Nynaeve's story - three times, she's involved in world-changing feats of the One Power, and all three times, she's just a glorified sa'angreal while someone else does the work - using the Bowl of the Winds, Cleansing Saidin, and Sealing the Dark One's Prison. Meanwhile, Egwene's high points are alone or as leader of a circle.
Just found your channel and just finished re-reading all the books for the 11th time. While I’ve read all the major series in Fantasy and Sci Fi, WoT remains one of my favorites and I’ve re-read these novels more than any other with the exception of the LoTR/Hobbit/Silmarillion books. I’d be curious of the ranking of all Saidin/Saidar wielders including the Forsaken. Enjoying your channel and look forward to catching up with all your content!
Amazing video! I can’t argue with your list as you put a ton of thought into it and actually have a formula to base it on (where I am just giving an opinion) The only switch I’d make is Nynaeve and Egwene. To be fair though this may be due to some personal bias. I love Nynaeve (certainly a top 3 character for me) and I really dislike Egwene’s arc overall. Thanks for the wonderful content!
One thing that everybody seems to miss about Nyneve, aside from the fact that she can draw a massive amount of saidar, is that she is the only living human (male or female) in all known history (including all the history known by the forsaken) to be strong in not one or two elements of the five powers but equally strong in ALL FIVE POWERS. since all other channelers are proficient in two of five elements, i think every attempt I've seen by others to gauge just how crazy strong Nyneve is (or will be) are ALL gross understatements. In my opinion the best way to see how strong she really is you have to consider her rated strength in raw power the way all other channelers are rated, and then say that rating is only 2/5 of her actual power. Even though she isn't drawing the maximum power possible, her versatility, even though she's only the third most powerful female channeler alive or dead, makes her probably number 1 in terms of potential
Recently discovered your channel when I started listening to the Audiobooks for my reread of this series. Love your content, and love that I've found a WoT community I can discuss the series with. Great video! I loved that you used decimals for the power scale LOL
Amazing Video Nae’Blis! I’d love to see an update with best channelers of the Dark and fighters too! These 3 were my first spoiler videos of yours I watched when I finished the series!
Cadsuane’s angreal is actually a fairly weak one... yet despite that, supposedly it allows her to reach the strength akin to the maximum a male can channel unaided, like Rand. And I totally believe Egwene deserves the #2 spot!
Great list! The only thing I would have scored differently is Eugene with a 2 out of 3 for objects of power since she only had one. But I really love how well thought out your conclusions are. Very fun video! I am always here for you top ten lists!!!
Wonderful video. I appreciate you! Obvious number one, and it is fine. But I was so, so happy to see E in second place. She’s my favourite. Your new ranking feels quite close... I think all five areas are part of the complete picture. Good one. And I think you made some changes up in the top compared to the last list... 😁👌
Loved the video and totally agree on your ranking! Love to see my Amyrlin up there💚 I think most people automatically think Nynaeve's the logical strongest female channeller, and as close as they may be, I think you're actually right that Egwene is simply better rounded. Her training was full hardcore because the Pattern needed her to be ready to slay them dreadlords at the LB. And well, she had all of the White Tower's objects of power at her disposal😆
I think for Damer, healing stilling should be a 4, not a 3, because even the Forsaken believed it was impossible, NO ONE in the Age of Legends was capable of it and it's always been widely accepted that it's just simply impossible
Recappa Sedai has the talent to make a red rod... Like the alter boy said to the priest, "I'm not touching that!""😂😜 Loved your guest appearance in her video
Virtually every accomplishment of das wundergirls is something Aes Sedai will firmly maintain is either impossible or dangerous until it's rubbed in their face. IIRC, certain tower people believe the healing of severing is a ruse BOOKS after it occurs, until multiple ajahs confirm the sisters in Cairhien.
I think the only thing I would change is how strength is calculated. It seems kinda weird that the difference in amount of points from raw strength between Rand and Moiraine is 1 point. I think for a list like this we can accept that it doesn't need to work for channelers who are not in the top 20 or 30, and calculate it in a way that differentiates more from raw strength.
Very cool list, but I wondered about Egwene's object of the power rating. She really only used the sa'angreal and the a'dam to control Moghedien. The category is more the amount of objrcts vs. what they may have done with it. She only had one (or two including the a'dam).
I would amend (at least speculatively) the comment about Nynaeve being able to heal stilling, something that had never been done, to never been done in recorded history. I mean, the Wheel turns right? Most things learned and held during the Age of Legends re probably taught and forgotten untold times over. So it MIGHT have been done before, just not as far as any history, person or other can remember. ;-) But then, by that count that really means everything anyone learns and relearns so maybe this whole comment was pointless to start with.
@@psgrewal85 That's what I mean. A version of the AoL has happened innumerable times, so if the same general events come around again and again I am sure SOME person fount out how to heal stilling as well as remove madness. ;-)
@lazygamer I guess thats a valid argument though im not exactly sure how applicable it is in this context, where we are comparing the known set of individual in the current age and past age. Else everything has been done by someone so the top ten channelers will always be the infinite rebirths of Rand. And amongst them, how do you compare the best version of the dragon reborn. Fair ?
BTW, Egwene didn't "singlehandedly fend off the Seanchan attack on the White Tower." She was linked to a Circle of young women to channel her enough of the OP to do anything, since she was doped up with forkroot. And yeah, she had a sa'angreal with her too (or was it just an angreal?).
She had the most powerful surviving female sa'angreal - enough that even through the forkroot she was more powerful with it than any unaided channeller.
@@rmsgrey yes, but she was still linked in a circle and not by herself, which is what "singlehandedly" means. Captain Will Riker (Star Trek) could show up to a battle in command of the most powerful starship the Federation has (the Titan), and he's not "singlehandedly" fighting the enemy; he's got a crew behind him. Just as Egwene had a "crew" behind her.
@@someoneelse3084 That wasn't the point I was addressing. You expressed confusion over whether it was an angreal or a sa'angreal. Though, yes, there is a solid argument to be made that, between her actions before getting her circle of novices, she was the person solely responsible for the Seanchan raid being repulsed with so few Aes Sedai losses. She single-handedly organised and led the effective defense of the White Tower.
@@rmsgrey My bad. I'm sorry, I totally misunderstood. Thank you for clarifying. Sorry I took your comment in the wrong way. We good? (Though I disagree with some of your apparent intent in the second paragraph, except for the part where she "led the defense;" if you are leading, well, there has to be someone following, which means you aren't alone... that would take us back to my Will Riker example)
@@someoneelse3084 I could probably have been more explicit in my original comment. I wouldn't have said "single-handed" myself, but I can see the argument for considering that she, as the only person who acted decisively and effectively, could be described as having saved the White Tower single-handedly.
Great video! My only question is why objects of power are part of the ranking system. That doesn’t seem to have anything to do with ability. It does allow many to achieve some of their feats of strength though. Just not sure how I feel about that criterion. Otherwise I like the list!
Alivia deserves a 2 for talents, she does something at the end that no one else but the dark one is capable of. Doesn't effect the order at all, but it should be mentioned.
Hi @Nae`blis i love the channel :-) , I wonder, i know Androl doesnt belong in that list with his minimal powerlevel in raw strength, but if you have made the numbers for him, could you be persuaded to give your rating for him, in an answer here
How is it that Elayne, who has a collection of objects of power that probably compares to Tear, if not the White Tower, AND can make Ter'angreal and is even given a 'seed' to make angreal, (and it would be reasonable to assume Elayne will figure out how to reproduce seeds as well,) only gets a 3/3 for objects of power? I get that Rand with the Choeden Kal and Callandor is automatic 3/3 but Elayne MAKES them. 4/3.
Okay... A much better list which is much more informative. Although I wish Nae'blis spent a little more time with each character. It's okay for the video to be over 25 minutes.
the tamyrlin was a ring that LTT wore in the AOL, as the first of the servants, or head of the Aes Sedai back when. at the end of the books, Logain, as the Head of the black tower, was the only figure of authority for the channelers, as there was no Amyrlin. And since the black tower was more akin to the previous incarnation (arguably) of the Aes Sedai, I believe the title (albeit not bestowed upon him in cannon) fits him properly. Also there is the "Min viewing" about his destiny.
@@NaeBlis Alright, I can only give you a couple of examples given it’s only comment section: The person who rediscovered the art of making the art of making objects of power was Elayne. Yet she gets 2/3? Nyneve rediscovered healing for severed, cleansed Saidin and helped Rand with defeating the dark one along with Moirine. Moirine killed two Forsaken - one with power and another with an object of power. Cadsuane shouldn’t even make the list and Egwene did nothing comparable to Nyneve and Elayne until the last spell that killed her. I don’t agree for her being that high on the list. Aside from this comparison, I always felt after book 5, her storyline was forced and didn’t hold together compared to other characters. And Cadsuane could have been removed from story without any impact - she was the product of “slug” of book 7-10. Anyway, it’s all matter of opinion and this video clearly is yours. Cheers.
I disagree with you that Elayne was the second strongest Aes Sedai after the Last Battle; second only to Nynaeve. Talaan (the former Windfinder apprentice) will be part of the White Tower she is stronger than Elyane. Also, I think you can make an excellent argument that Alvivia (the former damane) will be part of the White Tower. She is stinger than Elayne. Shariama (the grandmother) is stronger than Elayne. She is part of the Tower post Last Battle (albeit a novice) You should only give Alivia a 1 out of 3 for objects of power. She only uses the Nynaeve's paralis net when Nynaeve chooses not to use it (Cleansing and when Nynaeve enters the Bore - and probably only because Cadsusne "convinced" Nynaeve to let Alivia use it. Why does Cadsusne only get a 2 out of 3 for objects of power. I would think her always wearing her net should be a 3. Unlike Nynaeve (or Rand and Egwene, for that matter) sometimes are without objects of power). Using your rankings, what did Talaan din Gelyn (the former Windfinder apprentice) and Narishma get. I would have thought they would have been close to (or even possibly exceed) Damer Flinn.
I am torn on your arguments, but that is the beauty of Top 10 lists, its always subject to the person who made :) nothing beats smashing a hundred Top 10 lists together to make a "The best of hundred Top 10 lists" video.
Idk why I’m typing this but 🤷♂️ anyways. I’m in a reread again and I’m in Fires of heaven right after Egwene like freaks out on Nyneave and makes some Trollics scratch her and what not all just to manipulate Nyneave and to keep her lies going to the wise ones. And I just had to vent somewhere there is sometimes I really love her character but like 77.53% I can’t stand her. And I like her story and arch and I like having characters that are good and that have personalities that don’t agree with me cause that feels more real because not all people can synce well and that doesn’t make either one evil or bad or anything like that not everyone can get along. But man I just like want all her “friends” to be like your a shit person and I don’t have to accept that and just kick her out of there lives. Lmao 😂 sorry I’m odd I guess. 🤦♂️
Odd but not alone. Egg is a "horrible" "good" person, the fact that no one around her points it out and actually sing her praises makes me feel like the character is a little too mary sue'ish for my taste. Everyone else points flaws about everybody else, except for Egg........ Now I don't hate her, just that in real life I actually stay away from people like her, male or female. There are a lot of people that love her, and it's a sore point that divides the fan base. In a series with so many characters, to each their own I guess, you cannot say that Jordan didn't write for every taste out there.
