Y'know... It would actually be freakin' amazing if Riot Games tried some of these ideas! Imagine: Riot takes the time to develop the huge games based around Lucien, Jinx, and Diana as described above, and each one of them is received well not only by LoL fans, but also by general non-MOBA players who fall in love with the wonderfully unique stories, characters and game design all the same, even if they've never played LoL in their lives. Those unfamiliar with the lore soon discover the threads linking the seemingly entirely different worlds they would've otherwise never drawn connections between, and after a bit of research, they discover "Holy shit! THIS is League of Legends?!" Meanwhile LoL players who were in on it from the start enjoy seeing their favorite Champions expanded upon like never before, experience the delight of the LoL mythos becoming more and more popular, and maybe even potentially see the spinoff games turn around and inspire future updates to the core game. If they wanted to, Riot could easily set up their own expanded gaming universe spanning multiple genres, the likes of which have never been seen before! It would be freakin' EPIC! XD

It's weird coming back to this after all of the lore changes, spin-offs, and Arcane. The Soraka idea would need to be tweaked since Warwick has had some serious overhauls in his lore. Shoot, he'd be more likely to appear in the Jinx game if the hints throughout Arcane are what we all think they are (Vander = Warwick because of Singed and Silco). Also, a vice-versa game for Vi could also work. A similar kind of sandbox game but instead of heists and anarchy, she goes around both Piltover and Zahn cleaning up crime and corruption like theBatman Arkham series. Such as raiding shimmer dens, beating up corrupt enforcers, taking down Singed and his experiments, and trying to capture Jinx to rehabilitate her back into Powder. You could team up with Caitlyn, Jayce, Ezreal, Heimdigger, Ekko, and maybe even Jinx for a couple of boss fights like against Warwick.
Or against Urgot or Camille. Those can work to. And I even imagine Vi travelling in Piltovan charriots from time to time as a manner of fast travelling.
Dat new hair-do, thou- *Gets death-glare* Ummm...That really awesome and interesting countdown with unique ideas and clever concepts on video games that could be made based on these fun and entertaining characters, though!
Before you said Jinx (which is a WONDERFUL IDEA, and probably trumps my own), I was already thinking on something involving Piltover. But my idea was kinda opposite: a police-style game with Cailtyn and Vi (LA Noir based, maybe? But on a steampunk/magic-tech like world). Some features: 1) We can switch control of them (with possibly a co-op mode). As you can guess, each of the women would play very differently. Cailtyn for sniping and detective skills, and Vi for close range shock and awe, and dynamic contrast for the Sheriff. 2) Special situations (like hostage situations) where preliminary strategy thinking is essential BUT, if you're not controlling Vi, she might try something on her own, leading to a change in the plan, giving a random element of unpredictability. (since Vi sees Caitlyn's orders as "suggestions"). 3) I'm not sure about Jinx, she could be some sort of "main villain" showing up in the middle of the story (maybe even getting her own campaign, or playable sandbox mode), making an apperance here and there (explosions, everywhere!), foiling the Piltover's Finest's efforts, over and over until the end of the game, though I'm not sure what conclusion the story would have. Maybe they never catch/kill Jinx, so the game remains neutral to the three champions. Or maybe they do, since the policewomen are the protagonists, and it would be anticlimatic for the Jinx problem to remain unsolved. I love Jinx, but I love the Piltover girls even more, so I would go with the latter, but making sure Jinx has her fun first. (As a secondary note, I could accept the suggestion of a Vi X Caitlyn romance in the story just to please the shippers. You know there would be lots of them asking for it.)
A little update: EKKO. EKKO NEEDS HIS OWN GAME. LIKE RIGHT NOW. HOLY SHIT. HE COULD BE AN ANIME MAIN CHARACTER. HE COULD BE A WHOLE FUCKING FRANCHISE. His design is epic and unique, his games have PLENTY to go off of with the whole time thing (not necessarily just going back in time, but also freezing it) and he has Zaun (a really awesome setting) all prepped for him. Just imagine a MGR game with the ability to go back in time. And he has PLENTY to fight: Urgot, Singed, Vi, Jinx, Twitch, Caitlyn, Ezreal, Jayce and Viktor as the final boss. Zac could be an ally/alternate character and there is all kinds of interesting relationships to explore between him, vi and jinx such as their backstory in the Zaunite gang. On a side note, Zed needs a game because his design is so insanely badass, and his shadow ability so incredibly fun that a third person fighter as him would literally be the best thing ever, and he could fight all the ionian champions with shen as a possible final boss (or all 3 of the other ninjas joining their power). Again, imagine a batman arkham style game with Zed. I would pay 100s for that. Yasuo, Riven and Yi, are basically Raiden. Need I say more?
+maximyth100 Ekko has his own game. It's underwater, it's confusing, it's tedious, and for some reason, the "plot" is driven by dolphin-stealing aliens. ...I may be thinking of something else.
I would've said Yasuo in Platinum-Games Style Hack-n-Slash fighting everyone through Noxus to eventually get to Riven and slay her for Revenge. Or a similar one with Tryndamere trying to fight through to kill Aatrox while also facing a delima of accepting his darker self (DemonBlade Tryndamere)
I'd love to see Zac/ I'd love to see him roaming Valoran in an 3D platformer. It'd have a bit of combat, but you'd mostly have to bounce and stretch to reach new places. You'd have to use your blobs to solve puzzles and his stretchy, gelatinous body would basically make for the gameplay. His story would center around his quest to defend the innocent. And he's got such an amusing personality.
Unfortunately for League, Riot have recently stated that they were removing the idea of the Institute of War and Summoners from the game's lore entirely. So now, there is no other reason for these people to fifght other than "Why not?" as the Rift was a battleground for their powers to come together in an epic clash. Now... it just feels like every character is just kinda thrown in, sad backstory and all just so they have a reason to be in the game. Its disappointing really, as the Rift and Summoners made it all feel much more alive in a sense.
The characters still have the backstory. It's kind of like Smash Bros in that there's not really a backstory for why they're fighting but you have all the backstory for each character. I still prefer the old story though.
I hate to say it, but you missed an obvious choice: Talon (and Katarina). "Brother and sister" assassins on a quest to find their missing father (ik, Talon is basically adopted). Not only are they from Noxus, the darker, more antagonistic place, they are on a noble quest and would be extremely sympathetic. Picture heartfelt moments camping out in the depths of the Shadow Isles as brother and sister bond in a mystic journey spanning the globe. And even better, both being assassins of a similar, but distinguishable nature, it make for some intense co-op/solo puzzle stealth action.
Talon's my favorite champ so I would be all for this!!! Only I have to disagree about the sibling thing. There is no lore to back it up anywhere that Kat and Tal are anymore then just friends and I don't see how Talon being her fathers servant makes him adopted or brotherly. That's just fan speculation really, but maybe if a game started out without the sibling bond and they grew into one as it went along,that I could see....curse Riot we need more lore.
Ziggs strategy RPG! He tries to fight to earn his degree, and he realizes that his bombs are his magnum opus, and he fights with fellow amatuers, and he earns the friendship of Heimerdinger!
Ok but imagine mordekaiser leading a game. Hack-and-slash plus heavy metal. Have his main weapon be the axe guitar and make it so his combos eventually lead to you pulling off a giant riff and defeating a room full of enemies with guitar hero style lightning shooting from the guitar.
+Cascaded Volcano And with his new lore the story could be him destroying the various empires and lands in Valoran before finally reclaiming The Immortal Bastion aka Noxus.

you could have it be sort of a brutal legends type game if going on about combat and guitar rifts. heck maybe pentakill morde could be a first time completion award

I wanna see an updated version of this video, see if Josh still stands by his choices, or that new lol champions show more promise, or if Josh has any other ideas for games to start lol champions.
DotA's biggest problem, when compared to League, is that it just doesn't sucker people in as easily. League has a bright and colorful aesthetic, DotA has a gritty and serious aesthetic. DotA might be a deeper game at higher levels of play, but it simply can't attract players like LoL and Smite can.
This is a really creative premise for a Top 10 list. There needs to be more of this kind of original approach to list videos! And I would play the Ezreal game in a HEARTBEAT. -Rory
The ideas behind Soraka vs. Warwick's grimdark adventure really make me squee with happiness. While the others are rather linear and closed ideas Soraka's game could be driven by story and choices, played like a psychological horror. Stay to fight Warwick or leave your friend to their death? Which route can you take to save more people? Lucian doesn't have the same human element that Soraka does, since he's just killing stuff mercilessly and going through boss battles like a checklist. There's just more to gain from Soraka's struggles than from an hour of just killing stuff.
After watching this, I'm now kind of interested in the game and its lore. These are all really unique and interesting characters (Especially Jinx and Nami!) and I now want to know more! Great list! Keep up the good work!

Jinx DEFINITELY needs her own game. I can imagine a type of game that has her do bounty jobs with the acception of.....collateral damage. I can imagine it like (you said with one alteration) Saints Row, Deadpool, and Payday. It would be like she would be a Borderland world with cities and expansion on the areas for her to explore and see what she can destroy and toy around with. She is random, she is crazy, and #%@& love this crazy girl!!!!
It's nice that Warwick finally gets some love. Seriously, I never see him get used much. It's a darn shame. But yeah, Wick's my favorite champ top lay. He hits fast, hits hard, and I love making him an all-out offensive threat. Yeah, he won't take hits as well, but he'll recover nearly all of his health in a blink of an eye, as well as pushes lanes really nicely. I do need to work on his 1v1 potential though. Otherwise, Blitzcrank's okay, I don't use him as much, he's bulky and he definitely helps out though. That grab as well... Any other champions with Wick's style of gameplay? (Hits hard, hits fast, recovers HP really well, possibly quick)
Woodenfan While not exactly like Warwick, Yorick may be what you're looking for. Scratch that, he's nothing like ww besides the healthsteal. All of his abilities spawn little ghoul minions that attack things and have varying effects, while his passive makes him do 5% more AA damage for each summon active. Also, all ghouls have a percentage of yorick's max health and AD. His q resets the AA animation and while the ghoul's alive Yorick moves faster (Scales w/ad) W spawns a ghoul in an area dealing damage and slowing everything around it, the ghoul chases things and slows nearby enemies (100% AP scaling to make up for it being the only ap scale) E spawns a ghoul behind a target enemy, healing Yorick for a percentage of the damage done. The ghoul proceeds to chase the target and attack it, healing yorick for all damage it deals. (AD) Ultimate spawns a ghost thingy of a target ally champion that does a percentage of their attack damage and can be controlled like tibbers (Ctrl+Click, reactivate ability). If the targeted champ dies while the ghost is alive, they are revived for ten seconds with full hp and mana (cooldowns dont reset tho) He can be played top mostly, but can also jungle and in my opinion is a semi-okay support. His ult's ghoul blocks caitlyn ultimates so that's a thing. His sustain with E and good poking ability (he's a huge poker, though he has mana problems so manamune's a must in my opinion) let him stay in lane much longer than most opponents, though he lacks real mobility so he's rather gankable. His W, being in a target area, can check bushes and remove teemo traps. Etc etc.
You have no idea how much I love you right now. I too start playing league recently, for the very same reason-because I was fascinated with the lore. And your ideas are really good too! Only one thing tough. I know you gave it a lot of tought, but I have to ask-What about a game for Sona? It can be some sort of a combination between a beat game and a hack-and-slash. Maybe something in the concept of Brutal land. The plot could maybe be Sona trying to figure out where she and her instrument could have come from. And maybe her undead step mother ressurected by Krathus could be involved somehow.
I'm not really into LoL, but I've always thought that most of the characters had really creative concepts behind them that could be used for other types of games. This countdown was proof of that. Good Job, Josh! :D And Will. For the editing ;)
The coolest thing of LOL is that you don't need to play it to enjoy it, my cousin always plays the game and I can simply watch the game unfolds without getting bored, especially when it gets good.
The Number 1 intro sent a chill through my body. I agree, that character NEEDS their own game. Perfect motive, excellent combat skills, and overall, one epic Badass.
This was a really interesting countdown, kudos to you friend! Some personal suggestions I'd like to add, for instance, Xin Zhao I believe is a better suited arena/gladiator style protagonist for a colliseum type of game, considering his challenges were increasingly difficult to the point of utterly impossible, with that saving him twist at the end, while you could work with his personal struggles inside the colliseum, him meeting other prisoners, or even the story in how he got caught. Freljord, for another example, is a great territory to expand upon on a stand-alone game, maybe even setting it up in Quinn's "Journey into the Freljord" as she discovers the territory while engaging faction-decisions with Ashe's tribe with Tryndamere, Sejuani's with Olaf as an ally, and Lissandra's Watchers with Trundle's trolls watching her back (all pair-ups the Lore has made up), not forgetting the demacian squad on the continent, a poro companion, and Braum as an ally! Or a Jarvan (or Rengar) monster hunter-type game as he seeks greater prey throughout Valoran for his ever-increasing seek of self-strength and worthiness. Just a couple to ponder about, and I completely agree with Lucian being N1 haha
As a League player, my favorite roles have always been playing as the jungler and the support. I don't see many youtubers in the MLP community who do any kind of reviews like this one.. or maybe I just haven't found anyone like them yet. All the same, to see this video and see your list.. had me agreeing with every single choice you had. And hearing these game design ideas got me thinking (being an amateur game designer). Damn you, Fiery Joker for your creativity sparking my own! xD
I may be biased, seeing as I main him, but I feel a flashy hack n slash game as the Hidden Blade Zed would be amazingly fun. It'd be similar to Diana where you play as a character that's more anti-hero, seeing as Zed abandoned the way of balance and betrayed his friend Shen, along with the other ninjas such as Akali and Kennen. Now, imagine Zed's shadow abilities in a fashion similar to the combos in Bayonetta. Almost unlimited ideas can be done with a guy that can create and teleport to his own shadow clones. There could also be interesting commentary on the idea of power against balance. Just sayin'.

Great countdown! Just one little nitpick, about Jax: He wasn't forced to use the lamppost; he CHOSE to use it in protest of the restrictions the High Summoners put on him (due to the fact that he was dominating every match). His performance in League matches didn't drop at all, so they removed the restrictions, and he continued to use the lamppost by choice. Just wanted to point that out. I'm glad you're enjoying the game! I've been playing for about two and a half years (since September 2012, back during Season 2), so I know the lore fairly well. Also, Jax was the second champion I used (Annie being the first).
Joshscorcher, once again you come up with an original and thought provoking countdown. I was expecting "Top ten league of legends champions" but this one was way better since we got to see you be very creative with the concepts. And because you're (kinda) interested, here are my favorite lane pics: Top- Mordekaiser (Kinda tanky, lots of magic damage, and overall coolness factor) Middle- Syndra (Great range, tons of damage, area affect damage, and intimidating) ADC- Jinx, Kalista, or Varus (Jinx is what would happen if the Joker and Harley had a baby, Kalista wields spears in a graceful and poiwerful way, and Varus has some of the best range while keeping a simple but effective kit) Support- Thresh or Morgana (Thresh is great if you really want a little bit of everything in your support and Morgana has insane stuns as well as abilities that deal damage or ward of enemies well) Jungler- Tryndamere (I like a jungler with a little bit more heft to them and Tryndamere popping out of the bush to auto attack you is a scary thought) Wow, there's not a lot of good aligned characters in that lineup is there?

I would love a game staring Braum, talking about his living legends and exploits, starting with getting his shield and even encountering Lissandra as a final boss. Plus, maybe a Poro-Farming based minigame?
Another awesome example would be Udyr. His lore is one of the most extensive ones in the game, he has a clear final boss (Lissandra) and already is part of a team of badasses (the Winter's Claws). It could have combat similar to God of War, with brutal fighting mixed with platforming, and it could use his animal stances for different effects, combos and finishers against his enemies. He could have some sections where he has to fight alongside the Winter's Claws or his friend Lee Sin against bigger threats, like giant enemies or even the Avarosa clan. And the story could follow his character development from his raging, feral self (as we can see in his default and Primal skins), all up until he evolves into the Spirit Guard Udyr. He could have interesting cutscenes with Lee Sin and the monks, with deep phylosophical dialogue in there. He could even fight Lissandra more than once, being defeated the first few times due to his uncontrolled rage, until he can finally be powerful and focused enough to defeat her. The final boss battle could be many phases long, having to go through Trundle and his army of trolls first. I dunno, he's my main and favorite champ, and he has so much potential it's ridiculous
For me, the best game would be Viktor, you make a robot army to rule the whole runeterra, and you fight void characters and you make them be in your team, and in the end you rule the whole country and have 1 thing... A GLORIOUS EVOLUTION!
I looked up Mordekaiser and he is now one of my favorite video game characters ever. I also have never played this game before so you know he left a major impression on me, especially after listening to 6v4.
Soraka vs Warwick is an awesome concept. Mostly because I'm a big fan of Warwick, but hey, balancing fleeing the deadly hunter and helping people is actually a nifty concept. Throw in a couple plot elements or the idea of the « uneding hunt » (thus you must die in the end), and I'd buy that thing.
Don't feel too bad about the Soraka/Warwick psychology meltdown there, Josh. ANY DM of a roleplaying system will TOTALLY do that at least once to their PCs if they can :P
Soraka should have been #1, and here's why: All the other entries on this list are essentially just other games or genres changed around a bit to mesh with the character. But when I saw Soraka's entry, I thought, "This NEEDS to be a game." It's one of only two entries that was even a unique concept, and Soraka's seems like a more interesting idea (the other one was Nami, and even that would basically just be an underwater action-adventure game.)
Oh, I liked your ideas for the boss battles in #1. I'd imagine Evelynn would be similar to The End from MGS3, where you have to find her and take her down, except that she is also actively hunting you, rather than staying at a distance as The End did. And of course, she has the edge in this fight due to her invisibility. Yeah, a Lucian game would be pretty cool.
This was a very unique countdown to say the least. It was a strange one, but pretty good too. 'What if' scenarios are really fun to speculate around and I think some of your ideas are really great, particularly Nr. 10, Nr. 8, Nr. 6 and Nr. 1. It's a bummer they'll probably never happen. Riot don't need to make another game ever, as League is a golden goose that lays diamond eggs (ouch) as long as they keep updating it. But hey, a man can dream. :)
If not games, short stories at least all based in the same universe. I could totally see taking those ideas, changing the characters and world (so you don't get sued) and seeing how they play out. Something along the lines of horror for Soraka, steampunk for Jinx and probably Sci-FI for Lucian. It's an interesting concept that, in the right hands, could be great in execution.
This is a very unique and entertaining list. As someone who's been playing league for a couple of years now, I liked a lot of your choices, and also am now thinking of a bunch of other characters that could use their own games . . . this is a slippery slope of thoughts.
I'm personaly a fan of Zak in League, I would pay Amy amount of money for a Rachet & Clank style game set in Zoan with him acting as a Mr. Fantastic type hero character with the city mad scientist as villans.
Also, for #5, Nami's lore could connect with others. Like she could witness Naut getting sacrificed, and if you can save him from whatever took him, you could have some extra help. If not, Naut would be a boss to fight. Also, maybe Fizz could be a character too
I tried League once, and it didn't really blow me away like I expected it to. This video has convinced me to try it again. These characters seem incredibly interesting. Also, I'm legit surprised that there was no Green Scorpion cameo anywhere in this video.
Josh, why aren't you a game concept director? These ideas are fucking brilliant and interest me to hell. Especially, that Diana one like OMG she's definitely my lore favorite.
I feel like Nautilus would make for a better protagonist than Nami. You'd be restricted to the ocean floor instead of the open waters, but we wouldn't have to deal with any sort of wonky swimming mechanics, and Nautilus's restricted movement would be easy for the designers to plan around. Also, all of Nami's abilities are based around controlling water, which wouldn't be especially effective while you're actually underwater--Nautilus has a couple abilities based around water too, but they could conceivably be useful while submerged, like Riptide and Depth Charge. Nautilus has a more intriguing motivation and goal than Nami, as well--Nami has to fight bosses and collect Macguffins, Nautilus is just trying to get back on land and find the people who abandoned him. The desire to keep trudging along while gaining an appreciating the ocean and your newfound powers could be more easily communicated through gameplay than the desire to save a city that will be out of mind for most of the game. As for genre, I don't think that any established genre is actually good at doing underwater particularly well, but in a general sense, I'm thinking of a third-person slow-paced action-adventure game, perhaps with a Dark Souls-esque atmosphere.
Yorick interacting with Lucian could be interesting as well. He could be an Ally for Lucian seeing as how Yorick just wants to learn about his past and doesn't want to really cause harm to anyone.
I'm curious... What are your favorite champions to play? I remember you mentioning that you are a team player, so is supporting your favorite role? or the jungle so you can assist your team during laning phase? I'm not asking you to do a countdown for this or anything of the sort. It's just a question that you can choose to answer if you wish during one of your Q&A videos. Keep up the great work!
Great list, To add to your Jinx idea you could give her a sort-of RAGE mode (like Trevor from GTA V) but when you activate it, it changes the scenery to how she would see things inside her crazy head.
Now that I think about it, I'd like to see a Dynasty Warriors spin-off with just League champions. Master Yi blinking from mook to mook, Garen calling down a giant energy sword to blow up an enemy formation, Tristana blowing people away withassive cannon blasts. Good times. As for a specific champion, I think Kassadin could make a great DmC-style game similar to Lucian. He has interesting lore with the source of his magic trying to corrupt him as he uses it to fight the denizens of the Void, on top of most people thinking he's mad, and all of the Void champions would make for awesome fights.
This is going to be a sort of, what I would also include in some of the game ideas that you've come up with: 8: you could also have a evil side where you are Warwick, and need to hunt down Soraka from clues gathered from the places she has been and the people she helps. Just reversing the roles here, but could still be fun. 7: I could see this similar to Brutal Legend, but could have the twist of needing to recruit soldiers, and other villages to your kingdom by doing various tasks. 6: Like with 8, you could also hunt down Jinx as Kaitlyn(not sure how they spell it here) Vai (don't know this is how I heard it) using different methods to hunt her down. 3: I see this as a 2d platformer. 2: maybe a mechanic would be you have to convince people to join your cult and amass an army of these people to help overthrow the sun worshipers. 1:
Ahri, Hecarim, and Shyvana are my favorites, in no particular order. Ahri has an amazing backstory of redemption that needs to be expanded upon, even though her in-game quotes don't seem to reflect her changes. She's also a 9-tailed fox with fun powers, and I simply enjoy the concept a lot. Hecarim. The voice, the theme, the rampaging, the ability to attack while moving, the voice, the lines, that...javelin thing, the voice...just, power on four hooves, making horses cooler than ever. Shyvan is a half-dragon, and done right. Need I say more?
Honestly I would agree, but a character I also would love to play as in a game would be not of one character in a way, but of many. a game almost like Nobunaga with the Frejilord, like Ashe. You can play as any of the three, getting advice from Anivia, marrying or fighting people, and having a bit of an army versus army style game as you prepare to fight Lissandra.
From Diana...I don't get the villain feeling as much as I get one of someone who found a path, and was being ridiculed for it, someone who deserves more empathy than villainy....
Shaco starring in an assassin creed style game: He has a lot of tools in his kit to decieve and such, and he would get a little help in his missions from fiddlesticks and Nocturne because they all have similar powers that instill fear.
personally i had an idea for a town of salem kinda game, with shaco = jester/sk, except he can kill people, noxus can make up the mafia, and the rest of the roles filling themselves. soraka as a doctor, warwick as a werewolf, brand or annie as the arsonist. it just seems to fit.
Going back to this video now. Since the game now introduces more details behind Shadow Isle and releases the Yorick update, number 1 is a must for a League of Legends Indie Game spin off
