Technically antasma counts as a final boss think of it. Giant Bowser:Final Giant Luigi Boss Antasma:Dream World Final boss Dreamy Bowser:real world final boss
All Mario and Luigi RPG's terribly described: Superstar Saga: Land full of beans and has a turtle with tits Partner's in Time: Babies save fully grown men and team up to fight purple toads Bowser's Inside Story: Fully grown people somehow become tiny and get sucked into turtles body Dream Team: Game about teaching kids that dreaming is bad Paper Jam: 3D printing
He’s third only to Super Dimentio from Super Paper Mario, and Primal Dialga from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2, for me. All three were from games that I played around the same age, all three of them had epic final bosses with epic final boss music, and all three of them showed me what good subversive story was like before I even knew what the word “subversive” meant. Overall, just stellar games that really shaped my taste in story and music as a kid, and even today.
+The Administrator I'm very sorry. My 9 yo. brother was on my account posting these kinds of comments all day long. Please don't take it personally. :)
Partners in Time is truly a remarkable game. It had such a dark and mature story, with some very disturbing moments in it. All of the bosses are unique and very memorable. The final boss is also one of my favorite bosses in gaming history! I really hope they make another Mario & Luigi game with the atmosphere like Partners in Time. Truly a masterpiece
Salem Gelidi speaking of sound design can we mention the incredible soundtrack? I think it’s an equal to inside story and dream team. There are so many great song. The tutorial theme, peaches castle, star hill, yoshis island, the final boss theme, standard boss theme, holi Joli village, vim factory, star road(the thing you go to before star hill, the lullaby that plays after that credits(which isn’t in the U.S version for some reason) and how could I forget gritzy desert?
Yeah I freaking hate that boss. The 3ds remake fixed that though, because after the fight there’s a cutscene where Bowser throws the fucking train off a CLIFF *_R E V E N G E_*
It was about time Kamek got a challenging boss fight of his own, instead of letting other bosses fight for him like he is some damn Pokémon Trainer. He is always described as Bowser's right hand and most valuable minion, so he should be able to hold his own in battle. Another reason why Dream Team is my second-favorite M&L. (After Inside Story)
I love the Luigi Vs. Bowser battle not because it’s two giants clashing, but because Luigi ISNT SCARED going into battle. He’s usually scared out of his wits whenever he goes giant, but this time he’s completely determined to fight. LOVE IT. He’s not cowering, but SMILING in the face of danger, ready to take on anything that gets thrown at him.
*"Oh, you fuckful sneaks! Teaching the kiddies the meaning of life. It's what's on the inside that counts! RIGHT? LEFT! Cackletta's PUTRID, SHIT-SMEARED Soul was Bowser's Inside Story before Bowser's Inside Story WAS Bowser's Inside Story! Kick the snot out of the buzzard, in comes Mikey's alarm clock, and the bitch EATS you! (Spot the inside joke, win a prize.) Then you come across Blinky's bowling partner." ~Fawful's Minion, 2015* I want that whole quote on my goddamn wall.
From what I can think of, there's 2 things all the Mario and Luigi games have in common. Boss wise. 1. In the middle of the game, there will ALWAYS be a Wiggler fight. 2. Some form of Bowser will ALWAYS be the final boss.

Ye my first ever game was mario&luigi bowser’s inside’s story and just to say, when the boss came, I LOVED IT, Even tho the whole fight was pretty much me in a loop of extreme sirup using and dog washing, the attacks were awesome !...And I even learned that unstead of breaking the lock on the cage, YOU COULD THROW THE CAGE AT HIM !... Anyway 10/10 would play again
My favorite part is how bowser is finally being taken as a serious threat. In the first game he’s a joke for the first half and literally a puppet for the second half. In PIT he’s just a boss that no plot significance and a wasted final boss. In BIS while he is important to the story he spends the entire game as a puppet to Mario and Luigi. In dream team instead of becoming the puppet he betrays antasma and earned his spot as a genuine threat. With the epic music, the nightmare road playing before the boss and the tense battle all give him the feeling of a tense fight. He’s done being a joke, he’s a genuine threat. My favorite part is the scale Of the fight. With the previous 3 fights the world is at stake. Dreamy bowser is not like that. It’s a pure grudge match, after years of being put on the sidelines bowsers only goal is not world domination but to have victory over the bros
Whenever bowser and antasma are together, like on mount pajamaja, only bowser's theme song plays. This was subtle foreshadowing that he was going to betray antasma.
My order of favorite Mario and Luigi games (least to greatest) 5: Partners in Time 4: Superstar Saga 3: Paper Jam 2: Dream Team 1: Bowser's Inside Story
These have been absolutely wonderful Logan. You have improved dramatically since when I first started watching your videos and I can't commend you enough for that. I'm glad you continue to improve, respond, and work your ass off to make such quality videos. I have a question to ask, and this isn't just limited to you but anyone who will answer: I want to get into these games but I have a limited budget. Which one do you recommend I start with?
I knew it. I knew it! I KNEW IT! Dark Bowser HAD to be #1. It deserved it. It's actually the final battle with Fawful. You don't see him in Dream Team, nor Paper Jam, because you actually kill Fawful. And the best part is, it's a team effort. It's not a Bowser battle, nor a Mario and Luigi battle. It's all up to them.
I never felt that Cackletta's soul was particularly difficult. I usually end that game around level 35, which I don't think is over-leveled. Anyways, yeah these fights are all pretty great. This is such a well crafted series. Nothing ever seems out of place. It's great.
Woodenfan it has? well damn i always completed the game at level 33 and felt freaking underleveled -.- (PiT), but SS was not that hard tough even if i never moved first (had about 100 ish speed at level 42 or something, always liked to balance my stats out and stuff). But then again there are those mush badge AA's that totally breaks SS bosses.
There is an easy answer to this question: count the fingers. There are four. How can it be a middle finger, when four fingered hand does not have a middle finger?
The fawful express and dark bowser gave me literal nightmares as a kid. Main reason for fawful express? Tediousness, I swear if I had blown any harder into my mic I would've passed out. And dark bowser? Difficulty, button mashing and THAT SURPRISE FAWFUL BOSS. Seriously, that section scared the hell out of me. Some of his attacks were just spine chilling. But, on the upside, whenever I dreamt of dark bowser chasing me down a never ending hallway, at least I got to hear that SWEET BOSS MUSIC.
If there's one thing all the M and L games just completely nail, it's finales. They're always long, they keep you on your toes, and just completely fire you up, it's incredible.
I know, there are always spots I try to save at and keep it there so I can play the finales with a set of battles that make the finale. SS: Just before the final Fawful fight PiT: Just before entering the door to where Peach is being held BIS: Just before the Dark Star Battle with Mario and Luigi DT: Just before the last Giant Luigi battle I even have other saves around half way though the game or where I like the game the most. SS: Just before the first Cakleta battle up to where the Bean Star shatters. PiT: Just before the Bowser and Baby Bowser fight up to where we escape the Mother ship. BIS: Just before Bowser eats the Giga Carrot up to the end of the first Giant Bowser fight. DT: Just before the Boss of Mt. Pajamaja until the end of the Giant Boss fight with dreamy Mt. Pajamaja.
Final antasma was my favorite marpg boss ever. Period. I always playthrough those games underleveled, forcing me to rely on skill and LET ME TELL YOU, final antasma was the hardest thing I've EVER done. Extremely regret selling that game now. The giant dream owl thing, on the other hand...
8:15 I actually stumbled upon that situation. I accidentally beat the OG Kamek while the others were still active. Once his K.O. animation finished, he was still there. At first I thought it was a glitch. But then, you were right! I have to beat the other Kameks before going for the OG
I remember when I first got to the dark bowser/dark star core. IT WAS SO HARD! But that's what made it so rewarding when I beat him. (With a little help from my grandfather.) I really liked seeing bowser pretty much falcon punch his dark double off Peach's Castle. BEST FNISHER EVER.
Antasma is my favorite antagonist of all time. Here is my list of Top 5 Antagonists in video games: #5: Marx and Marx Soul #4: Clockwerk the Owl #3: Fawful #2: Neo Metal Sonic #1: Antasma, The Bat King
so I was hoping number 1 would be dark bowser because the only Mario and Luigi game I've played is bowser's inside story and when I was I was like OMFG he did
next Mario and Luigi RPG idea, though I doubt it Anti-Mushroom Kingdom or (someone please come up with a better name) a dimensional rift opens in the sky from E.Gadd's invention, which sadly opens a portal to a nether-like realm where Mario and the Mushroom kingdom is evil while Bowser is the good guy give them names like Mario- Oiram Luigi- Igiul Peach-Hceap ..................yeah, not my greatest idea but you do you see what I'm getting at?
Whenever bowser and antasma are together, like on mount pajamaja, only bowser's leitmotif plays. This was subtle foreshadowing that he is going to betray antasma. Check out the dreambeats cutscene if you don't believe me!
The final battle with the dark star at the end of bowser’s inside story also has one thing that a lot of other battles in the series don’t have, buildup between games. Keep in mind that you killed fawful’s leader so this battle is personal for the little bean demon. While you were battling aliens for a game he was preparing and everything went his way throughout the game. Always one step ahead of the plumbers, the king and the princess. It’s only at the end when he starts to lose and if he doesn’t then it’s mass destruction across this childhood world that we all grew up with. Everyone dies if Mario and Luigi fail and Cackletta gets what she wanted if they fail. Beyond the grave she acts in her greatest ally fawful. He attained godlike power because it was what she wanted. She started the mission and he is gonna finish it unless the plumbers, the king and the princess stop him. Damn that set up. Bowser’s inside story is amazing
It's been over 8 years, since this countdown was made, and I'm still curious what Fawful's Minion's least favorite bosses are in the Mario & Luigi games.
My favorite M&L games in order: Partners In Time, it’s just the one I played the least but I still love it. Superstar Saga, a little bit too easy for my circumstances but still very fun. Paper Jam, really fun battle system and gameplay but the story could’ve been a little better. Dream Team, one of my most played games, super fun battle system, really cool story, and cool and unique characters. BiS, the one I grew up with, super super fun, awesome story, and controlling Bowser is the best thing ever!
I remember playing bis when i was little, but i raged a lot on the train boss so i stopped playing the game for like 2 years. Then one day i found bis and decided to try to finish it and man, it was worth it
I agree. The Giant Bowser fight was already Bowser's big final battle. If anything, in the series's spirit of duality, perhaps the final fight should've been where Mario and Luigi fight a beefed-up Dreamy Bowser, but the true threat is Antasma powering up Bowser from within his dreams. After Mario and Luigi incapacitate Dreamy Bowser, Mario, Luigi, and Dreambert infiltrate Antasma's nightmare realm, where the three go up against a superpowered, nightmarish Antasma who has a whole host of horrible attacks - think Cackletta Soul and the Dark Star Core, but on steroids.
What makes blizzard midbus so difficult is not just that his attacks are powerful and hard to dodge, but also that if you play the game normally from the Junker boss fight until this point, without going out of your way to grind, bowser will likely be about 10 levels lower than midbus due to him having been locked up for the previous 4 hours of the game, making even fighting him on easy mode a nightmare, since all off midbus’ attacks will probably one-shot you.
I´ve replayed Superstar Saga only 20 times. I remember the first time I couldn´t beat it and (I had it on an Emulator) my best friend got to my house and we played it together, me as Mario and him as Luigi, the entire weekend. That was awesome, I really get really happy when I remember that weekend.
***** Actually I did the same with Minish Cap too. I didn´t had too many games back then, even on emulators, and I replayed them a lot. Those are the games that I replay the most, the GBA Classic (Mario & Luigi, Minish Cap, Wario Land 4 and so...)
Also a little side note, once he becomes blizzard midbus it completes the whole “Reverse Bowser” thing midbus has going on. Once he becomes Blizzard Midbus, he’s a mammal with reptilian features that uses ice, in stark contrast to bowser, who is a reptilian with mammalian features that uses fire.
