it really isnt that much, hopefully that will die soon, it started as one jerk insisting his was worth 1k and was the only listing for months, it finally sold but for 800 instead, i still think that was a shill bid to bring the average up, basically the current state of the price is because of one scalper rather than actual value and the purchases since then have been based on that single suspect transaction
I know you're just trying to inform us, but I can't help but feel a little jealous whenever I see your collection. You were able to display at least one copy of each of these masks in camera for the video. I think my rarest masks are a red Pakari Nuva and a white Miru Nuva I received from a mask collector box years ago.
One of the reasons the trans-clear Kaukau is so expensive is because people used dye on them to create their own colors, so there are less that exist that haven't been dyed. I can't remember who it was but there was someone in the old community who would dye them trans-purple and sell them.
As an owner of all of these masks, I'd say the list is pretty good, although I'd consider the pearl gold Kraahkan over inflated due to bricklink and hype. The price should be in my opinion around $750
Actually found the Takutanuva "movie style" box a while ago in a flea market for like $10 (it was in really poor condition). It seemed to just contain random parts though (in a sealed bag, could spot a bunch of Bohrok and even Ninjago Stuff) so i ended up selling the box on its own for like $40 (again, very poor condition). It wasn't until recently though that i took a closer look at that bag and actually opened it. And it turned out that among those random parts were maybe 40% of Makuta and Takanuva And yep, the "movie style" Kraahkan was among them in great condition. Now i just need to figure out what to do with it though
wait so i have both "Toa (titan) mata nui", and Toa Ignika (silver mask of life) -- should i sell these to pay for my student loans? yall give me suggestions please :)
@@isaacxcheng Well, the Toa Mata Nui set is worth quite a bit. The Toa Ignika set is only worth about $30, so you won't get much out of it. I would say you could sell them to help pay for student loans, but you'll only be making a small dent in those costs. If anything, I would say it might be more worth it to hold onto those sets and sell them when they're worth more, which they will be in time considering parts in good condition are only becoming rarer and rarer as the years go by.
I had no idea those 2003 silver nuva masks were so rare. Were they more plentiful in Australia? I remember them being really common in mask packs, I've got a ton of them.
Great video and list! I recently found two rare prototype masks in an old Bioncle lot I bought. I was able to sell one of them to basically pay for my whole Bionicle hobby, and then some. And then I still have the other prototype mask to keep on display.
lucky enough to have all of these, curious how many of the next video i'll have lol! i know i'll at least be missing the platinum avohkii but i have nearly all the typical misprints and promotionals. i was under the impression though that the silver miru nuva was just as common as the others, but that someone had them in bulk and flooded the market so they became cheap. where'd you get your info on it being in different promotional/bonus releases?
I am so lucky to have the collection I have today. Half of the sets and many rare mask. But I hope my dream comes true that I have all the sets, combiners, canonized sets, and most of the mask to display. I really just love seeing your collection, it gives me hope for collecting.
And to think most of my collection gets stripped down for MOC parts... Never realized there were so many masks alone. Being born in the early 2000's meant I wasn't able to get in the loop until little before Hero factory, so I guess I'm learning every day.
It It always annoyed me as a kid how Makuta's movie version looked nothing like his toy version. And it annoys me even more now that I know the movie came out after the toys...
I used to own a silver Akaku Nuva mask that I unboxed myself... I never really liked it since it didn't fit with any of my builds, and I ended up trading it for a Rahkshi box (since at the time I thought the canister boxes were pretty cool)
I have my silver Pakari Nuva, Movie Kraahkan, and dark blue Ruru at least. If I wasn't planning on figuring out some MOCs of my own I'd totally sell them.
BRO I bought the mata nui figure like 10 years ago at a swap meet for like 30 bucks and the mask been sitting on a random figure I made then tossed into a crates of legos, I had no clue t was worth 350 bucks holy shit
I actually have the Dark Blue Ruru, but no Karzahni set. I do have Karzahnis cape as I recently got an order of bionicle stuff and luckily pulled it from the order.
im currently on vacation in the US do you know all the US exclusive bionicle sets? I know the mctoran and the trans neon green miru is there anything else?
I used to look on old third-party websites at old Bionicle masks and Cordak blasters that I couldn't have because they were way too expensive for my parents to even consider buying... On another note; you have athletes-finger.
I wonder how the continual improvement of 3D printing will affect the prices of some of these masks… if a gold ignika or silver Hau Nuva which properly imitates the colour and quality of the real thing can be acquired for incredibly cheap, will these prices remain so high? Thoughts, anyone?
The silver nuva masks price sudden inflated value is like one of the biggest scams of all time. They aren't really rare compared to the others, it's just there aren't many listings other than the scalpers squatting on them or collectors that already own them. I really need to dig through my really old bionicle stuff at some point to see what ones I have as I do remember buying and/or receiving a few of the powerless nuva mask/krana kal packs back in the day. The gold krahkaan I can understand being more expensive than normal stuff of because of it being an unlisted running change, but people still charge way too much for it. Funny storym I used to think that was a bootleg thing. It's a shame I'm quickly getting priced out of yet another hobby of mine by market value speculators. Kinda wonder if in a few years time a bunch of these "rare parts" are just gonna show up in some storage unit that ends up bringing the prices back down kinda like what happened with some nintendo stuff that had inflated in price ridiculously. Right now there's some california based ebay seller scalping bionicle sets and parts for sometimes 100s of dollars thats been like the bane of my existence every time I look for bionicle related keywords, and I'm certain people like him are where a lot of the sanely priced stuff is ending up when bought.
That’s an interesting thought. As of now most 3-D printed things still have that sorta ‘grain’ Look to them that you don’t see in injection molded plastics. But with time.... who knows?
So glad I got most of my mask collection done years ago, unfortunately never was able to get a pearl gold mask of shadows though… same with the light blue kaukau misprint
I have the silver Hau Nuva mask from a mask pack I got as a birthday present when I was a kid. I had no idea it's rare and expensive until watching this video.
10. Dark Blue Ruru, got it with the rest of mostly complete Karzahni set in a parts lot for 250 pln. 9. I don't have it yet. But then again, Kaukaus are insanely priced for watever reason. 8. Takutanuva, not yet. 7. Nope. 6. Nope. 5. Nope. 4. Nope. 3. Nope. 2. Got TMN for 20 pln. 1. Not yet too...
Not really, since the Dark Gold Mask of Time came with the "special edition" Vahki sets that also included the Disk of Time, as well as the Creature Accessory Set (that big plastic tub that came with a lot of parts). If anything, the Orange Mask of Time is considered more rare since it was only given away at select promotions.
I got the gold kenohi ignika In a giant box of bionicle I got from my cousin when he got out of bionicle right as I was getting into bionicle when g2 came out
6:56 "one of the cheapest masks out there at only around $3-$7 US dollars." Not in the United States it isn't, cheapest I just found was in California from a seller of 3 of them for $19.99 each. In terms of internationally, yes that's true and still perplexes me how common it is.
So if I have a silver pearl Kaukau AND Pakari, what should I do about that? I don't love those masks, I could part with them. Are they gaining or losing value over time?
Hey I figured out what the bubble in the green Kaukau was. It's actually a very rare misprint. The only other one to have a bubble variant is the light blue Kaukau. But IIRC I found 1 other on the BMP.
I have 40 plus Bionicles.(Whole units) I think they are first year up to mid 2015?? I have Masks and heads etc! Is there a Scanning tool that I can use to identify what they are? or do I need to go to LEGO and look up all of the Bionicle Products? under build instructions? I have a Bag of Masks and Heads separated from the other body parts????????
Honestly, 300 bucks for the pearl gold Ignika, at that point I'd rather spend an extra 200 dollars and get an 18k gold plated brass Ignika off of Shapeways, but I'm still focusing on getting the 18k gold masks for the Toa Mata, three down, three to go.
While I don't have #1, I do have all the others. Duplicates of some, too. But don't ask to see my copy of the movie edition of Makuta's mask. A collector would have a heart attack seeing how scratch and banged up mine is. It got a lot of play over the years as it was the mask of a custom character I built.
You know what hurts? Knowing I had some of these when I was younger but my parents junking them because they were -kids junk- when I was in highschool. Fuck lmao
In Germany it can happen quite often that you get those masks in random Bionicle/Slizer bulks for 5€/kg. You can buy these bulks on German Ebay or used Lego shops. I have bought several kg Bionicle last year for my Mechagodzilla project and i already have 2 full big boxes only with these masks.
Managed to snag all of these mask when they were a lot cheaper years ago. The only one I don't have is the Pearl-Gold Kraahkan. I had no interest in getting ANY system Bionicle set back in the day, but I sorely regret it now. lol
