What always amazed me about Byakko is how he is the only member of the Saint Beast to survived two battles to the death and defeated by none of Yusuke's team mates

I love how in the original fight with the Toguro's, Yusuke and Kuwabara completely ignore that Elder Toguro is literally just lying right there in his sword form.

Sorry but i have to go with elder toguro being the best secondary villain in the entire series. Guy lasted two main arcs and was hands down the most evil sadistic character out of all the villains not to mention his disturbing abilities. And also he had the worst fate iv ever seen in anime making him the most memorable

Elder Toguro's fate reminds me of the Itachi and Kabuto outcome of their battle. Pretty dope in terms of inspiration if it was from this.

That is the super power of Kuwabara. He gets constantly underestimated and because of that he pulls wins. Elder Toguro also underestimated him.

I love Elder Toguro, one of my fav orite characters in the whole series. But Karasu is also really cool!

The duel of wits between Kurama and Kaito is a work of genius on several levels. Besides the obvious, those that did the english dub deserve credit for working the english dialogue to fit the duel perfectly. That was not an easy feat. I am surprised you glossed over Yomi, considering his achievements in the series.

I saw a few clips on here and was instantly impressed. This would have been interesting if it had been adapted into a limited live action TV series.

You've done a pretty good job hyping up Karasu, I totally forgot about him up until this video. However i still prefer elder toguro due to his freakish power and appearence, and especially what he did to Gourmet....

One of my favorite series, but much more so in manga than in its animated version. The quality of Dybex's stf and, conversely, the "scum" tone of Kana's first translation may have had something to do with it, but my main criticism of the anime is that it has watered down the substance of the manga, especially the character of Kurama : Strangely enough, not in his hardest passage (the fight against Gamer) but especially in the final arc, where he seems to renounce combat and his monstrous nature, whereas the manga shows him on the contrary accepting his monster nature and his status as a fighter, who can be ruthless - like Yusuke and Hiei but unlike a Kuwabara who renounces combat. The part about Emma sr and her relationship with her son is also completely skipped, although it was certainly a retcon, but particularly striking. On comparisons with DBZ: I think you're being a bit harsh, but I agree with you overall; I would note, however, that some of the flaws start as early as the Dragon Ball part, with much more serious stakes and a sharp drop in humor from the appearance of Piccolo the father onwards. Where Yu Yu Hakusho proves to be far superior to Dragon ball, in my opinion, is in the organization of the tournament: where in DB we have a succession of 1 vs 1, Yu Yu's tournament sees team matches, several-on-one battles, shenanigans by the organizers... It's very varied, much more so than in Dragon Ball - as is the nature of the fighters' powers (plants, fire, ice, potions, muscles...). On the post-tournament: I'm one of those who like it (as a whole, right up to the controversial post-tournament conclusion), whereas I didn't like it on first reading. Togashi tries a lot of things, not always successfully of course; but he manages to create striking moments, even for very secondary characters, and to give them an unexpected but satisfying conclusion - I'm thinking, for example, of the various romances of the former tournament participants in the last volume. It's also one of Togashi's talents (which we'll see again in Hunter x Hunter) to give free rein to the imagination with small things, to create leads that don't necessarily all come to fruition or end up in the end, but which bring his characters and his universe to life (beyond what is explicitly told).

The best things about else taguros defeat is that he acquired the mind read ability after he took over gourmet, so kurama devised his attack in a single instant so he couldn't be predicted. Plus, he's stuck in a maze like labrynth that took several hours to traverse, so the chances of him ever being found are pretty much zero

Rinku also underestimated Kuwabara too to be fair. They both discredited each other and nearly costed Rinku a loss.

My dad, brother, and I watched the majority of the dark tournament together a while back. I've always loved the arc with Dr Ichigaki's team. Suggestion for a future video: Top 10 Characters Who Fight With Shields or just Shield Users. (in Anime, Video Games, ect)

Nice for me 1. Elder Toguro during The Dark Tournament more so than the Chapter Black Arc whom truly was the most malevolent being in all of Team Toguro having no honor and deviantly sadistic over all the others even in the Yukina rescue arc he serves prominently good secondary Antagonist. Chapter Black is strange because he is puppeteering Gourmet’s body. But overall has had the most longevity from the end of Spirit Detective Arc, all of Dark Tournament and coming back towards the end of Chapter Black why he is number one. 2. Mukuro during the Makai Tournament since she is a big fight with Hiei though not as much in stake all before main event that is Yusuke vs Yomi the Main Antagonist. 3. Itsuki particularly great right hand man but really almost all the 7 Psychics particularly Gamemaster, The Doctor, and Sniper can share this spot also personal bias because Chapter Black is the my favorite and the best Arc in YYH. 4. M1, M2, M3 the 3 brainwashed human characters from Team Dr. Ichigaki really gave Yusuke and Kuwabara a hard time more over Dr. Ichigaki himself. 5. Jin really cool character and it seemed he was actually stronger than Risho simply cause Jin pushed Yusuke to use the Spirit Wave Technique for the first time in combat, meanwhile Risho gets humiliated by a already injured Kuwabara that did heal from Yukina but still got beat embarrassingly. 6. Byakko whom is more memorable than Seiryu and Genbu because how resilient he was, really he helped show us more depth to Kuwabara’s character though flawed with stubbornness initially the undying determination and will of his honorable manhood we would see reoccur throughout the series and Byakko accomplished this whilst Seiryu and Genbu got annihilated by Hiei or Kurama like complete jokes. 7. Shishiwakamaru- same thing with Jin seemed to give the impression with his presence, feats and showings that he was the leader of the Team Uraotogi and put out a far more impressive display than Suzuka whom got destroyed and humiliated by Genkai. 8. Zeru- really gave first time watchers or readers that he was the Team Leader of Rokuyukai, really kool character that gave quite a heated impression no pun intended though it is a shame that he served to put over how devastating The Dragon Of The Darkness Flame was and hence was demolished in an instance but he certainly was memorable for his edgy demeanor and initial intimidation. 9. Kazemaru the Ninja from The Genkai Tournament whom really made us question he was Rando upon first viewing I would also like to add Kibano earlier in the Tournament leaving somewhat as much of a reoccurring big talker in The Genkai Tournament Arc with Kazemaru though Kazemaru takes this one simply cause with his overconfident demeanor to make you initially think he was Rando as oppose to Shorin. 10. Mr Akashi whom is right hand man to Mr Iwamoto he whom is a minor but reoccuring antagonist in Yusuke and Kuwabara’s school and Akashi never returns after the Test Kuwabara does through implying Akashi was second fiddle to Iwamoto, and yes I chose Mr Akashi over Gouki from the 3 artifacts whom is such a bland crappy dull character that I thought Akashi.

Elder Toguro is so obviously #1 that he somewhat blurs the distinction of ‘secondary antagonist’. Sure, he’s not the main villain of any one arc, but his sustained presence throughout multiples arcs arguably elevates him above *several* arc villains.

Just an idea for a future top 10 if it is not already one but top 10 characters who fight with yo yos like as goofy sounding as it us yo yos can truly be very great in combat x3 x3

11:45 It's interesting to think about his fight with Hiei. Like that dueling type style of fighting, Shigure knew that was Hiei's thing so he wanted to beat him at it. But Hiei was a bit better. Had he used his full tool kit Shigure may of been more a threat to Hiei.

The four saint beast are based on the four cardinal directions of china but they're powers and the elements that they have are wrong For instance genbu here has earth and rock based powers but is a dumb as rocks brute while the black tortoise has water based powers, domain over the season of winter, Guardian of the north, and is wise, Byakko here has energy absorption and beast based powers but is a cowardly bully glutton while the white tiger has metal based powers and to a degree lightning powers through metal, Guardian of the west, domain over the season of fall, and is brave and determined, Seiryu here has ice based powers but is a overconfident cold hearted wannabe master while the azure dragon has wood based powers, Guardian of the east, domain over the season of Spring, and is calm but deadly when pushed, and finally Suzaku here has lightning based powers but is a sadistic high class man child while the vermillion bird has fire based powers, Guardian of the south, domain over the season of summer, and is passionate and always come back stronger after almost dying which team Urameshi are somewhat similar to

Karasu is my absolute most personal intimate favourite! 🤍 I love his psychological warfare, and that he terrified me so much that I now hallucinate him on a daily basis (albeit he eventually became redeemed around me, but that's just me - thank God for rewriting the narrative in my imaginary world) ... plus, he looks like Atsushi Sakurai from BUCK-TICK, and is just as hot!! 🤍
