This day Aria is even more clever than you went into. Whun of the things that I learned watching reviews of it, is that during the stanzas were chrysalises singing, the music is arranged in what is called a "deceptive cadence" . When cadence is singing, the music is arranged in what is called a " true cadence"

One of my favorite little tidbits about "This Day" is that while both Cadence and her doppleganger are singing the same melody, their chords and tones differentiate in relationship with the dominant. Princess Cadence is singing in a pattern often referred to as a "True Cadence" while Queen Chrysalis is singing....a False Cadence. Someone worked very hard on a hidden joke that about a dozen people would actually get.

For some reason people forget about Batman the Brave and the Bold's best villain, Music Meister.

Spinel swinging her scythe is one of those moments in a show where no matter how many times I see it, I can't help but rewind to watch it again at least a half dozen times. The animation is just so fucking clean...

Bruh, that fakeout at number 1 was perfect. But yeah, I can see how This Day Aria really nailed how dark it can get.

The moment I saw “Ready as I’ll ever be” I thought it was gonna be in here. I love varians villain arc and I was super exited. Crossing the line is also a great song.

fun fact in regards to Haman (from someone who is half Jewish & half Christian) Josh is right that Haman's name getting booed is tradition, but it's not just booing. in the synagogue when telling the story of Esther, any time Haman's name is even mentioned, people use noise makers, instruments, their feet, & even their voices to block out his name (more-so for the children cuz it's actually kinda funny). he really was that bad of a guy. also, I'm guessing the people behind Veggietales didn't give him his triangular hat is because they didn't really know how to make it work, but that's just my guess

Yeah, when I first heard that explanation from Butch about the ghosts in Danny Phantom, the only thing I had to say was "Butch, does the name Sidney Poindexter mean anything to you?"

I completely forgot about that line from Doctor Who. He may not have been the longest Doctor, but he was an amazing one to introduce new fans to who the Doctor was.

What really clinches Crossing The Line for me is that Cassandra's voice actress Eden Espinosa played Elphaba in Wicked a few times. Her voice is powerful and this song is basically Cassandra's "Defying Gravity" but for Tangled.

A little sad that "Brains" from Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy wasn't anywhere on this list. But, these songs were all amazing in their own right.

23:46 - 27:03 I want to add something to Haman’s Song that I think you should’ve mentioned. Throughout the song, the common lyric is “There are those who can’t be trusted”. Haman (and the king joining along) says this about the Jews throughout the song until the end where a chorus ends the song with that line. The chorus sings it while Haman walks away in triumph, to emphasize that Haman is the one who is truly untrustworthy, due to manipulating his king.

Listens to Remember as a kid: Yeah, this is alright. Listens to Remember as an adult: ... Wait, WHAT?

Aw man. Now I'm sad Bill Cipher's deleted song, "Its gonna get weird" didn't make it on here.

As a black man, I highly agree with the "Minorities" song's placement on this list and I respect that you put it as a VILLAIN song cause Cartman is 100% evil

I’m kinda glad “Come Wayward Souls” from Over the Garden Wall was at least an Honorable Mention

A little shocked that: 1) The Music Meister from “Batman: the Beace and the Bold” didn’t show up on the list. 2) Sweet from “Buffy TVS” and his song didn’t make the list.

My honorable mentions: Agatha All Along (Wandavision) The first villain song of the MCU and also the best. Alastor’s Reprise (Hazbin Hotel) The Roaring 20’s were so catchy. Bad Boy/Go Away (The Garfield Show) Dirk Dinkum is not what you’d call a people person. The Black Four (Kimba The White Lion) It may only be in Japanese be it’s still pretty catchy for a song about four evil panthers. Blow My Stack (The Looney Tunes Show) Proof that Yosemite Sam has always been a ticking time bomb. Brains! (Billy And Mandy) Sung by a brain eating Audrey 2 knockoff and featuring a Thriller homage. Da Pixie Rap (Fairly Odd Parents) Anyone who remembers School's Out!: The Musical remembers this song. The Devil’s Song (The Cuphead Show) Just as good as the game if not better. Do The Koopa (The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros 3) If you don’t Do The Koopa, then you’re a party poopa. Every Dr Doofenshmirtz Song (Phineas And Ferb) If I had a nickel for every time Doof had a musical number in this series... well, I wouldn't know what to do with that much money! The Earthshaker (The Replacements) I don’t know how Dr Scorpuis thought that a dance would help him take over the world, but at least it’s pretty catchy Glomtales (Ducktale 2017) Villainous parody of the main theme sung by Scrooges bitter rival. Ha Cha Cha (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) Mortimer Mouse is a massive jerk, even in the preschool shows. Hail to the Legion of Pirate Villains (Jake And The Neverland Pirates) You mean to tell me that there are evil pirates in Neverland other than Captain Hook? I’m gobsmacked! High to Be Loathed (The Simpsons) In the immortal words of Mr Burns, "Excellent." I'm Not Very Nice (The 7D) Kelly Osbourne at her finest and meanest. I'm The Music Meister (Batman The Brave And The Bold) "Ah, the Music Meister, I still can't get his songs out of my head." It's Gonna Get Weird (Gravity Falls) The Bill Cipher song that never was. Let’s Slay The Beast Tonight (House Of Mouse) Lefou and the other villagers singing a parody of YMCA, need I say more? The Man In Gauze (Courage The Cowardly Dog) Return the slab or suffer his curse. Meticulous Analysis of History (Pinky And The Brain) Love the Gilbert and Sullivan vibe they're going for here. Naughty Number Nine (Schoolhouse Rock) The multiples of 9 sung from the perspective of a gangster cat. Oh My Karen (Spongebob Squarepants) Plankton really loves his computer wife. The Pie Who Loved Me (Evil Con Carne) This entire musical episode is about Hector trying to take over the world via pie. Porpoise Power Ballad (Penguins Of Madagascar) Neil Patrick Harris as an evil dolphin singing to a possessed MP3 player, not bad. Rise Of The Vermillion (Lego Ninjago) Snakes, why did it have to be snakes? Robot Hell (Futurama) What did poor Bender ever do to deserve this? Tonight We Strike (The Lion Guard) The only song able to give Be Prepared a worthy opponent. Townsville's Going Down! (Powerpuff Girls) Why was this episode banned again? Oh right, Christ-like imagery and strobing effects. Victory’s Mine At Last (Penn Zero: Part Time Hero) Who knew that Alfred Molina could sing so well. We’re The Gremlins (Goodie The Gremlin) A bit of a deep cut, I know, but where else are you gonna find a villain song in a Noveltoons cartoon. When You're Mine (DC Superhero Girls) If you're gonna brainwash Supergirl with red kryptonite, might as well it in song. You Wouldn't Want To Mess With Me (Little Mermaid Animated Series) Between this and Poor Unfortunate Souls, Ursula has quite the track record when it comes to musical talent. Yzmapolis (Emperors New School) What would happen if Kuzco never became emperor? You’d get this amazing song of course.

I’m hoping to see Dr. Doofenshmirtz somewhere here Edit: I would be disappointed, but you mentioned I’m The Bad Guy from WoY. I’d say that’s a fair trade.

I'd have put "Other Friends" higher. It's legit one of my favorite songs, and Spinel is one of my favorite villains of all time. But yeah, the length is a good enough reason to keep it low, I guess..... Also you should've given "Ready As I'll Ever Be" at LEAST an honorable mention, I mean c'mon, that song's iconic.....

I find your analysis of the Cassandra song super interesting. I saw a video saying something similar, but they thought it didn't work because it did not feel like a villain song. I still liked it, but I saw their point. I never thought of the deconstruction and subversion of a Princess song as an intentional angle and I really like that analysis.

Like "High to be Loathed" which had shadow puppets of other villains including Chucky, Megatron, Eric Cartman and Voldemort.

Actually, the cookies are not based on Haman's hat, but rather they are based on his ears. The reason is that Haman was planning to execute Mordehai by hanging him off a tall tree by his ears, and Karmatically that's how he himself was executed in the end when his plot was revealed - even the tree Haman was planning to use for Mordehai was the same one they used to hang him.

I love how everyone who's watched MLP (at least up to or past A Wedding in Canterlot) just collectively agrees that This Day Aria is fucking amazing.

Holy smokes, that’s a Bibleman song in the transitions. My respect for you has increased a thousand fold, Mr Scorcher. I loved those shows growing up, and, yes, the villains were, ironically, part of the fun. Prince of pride and doctor fear were pretty impressive given what they had to work with.

Lazy Twon had a lot of great songs, personal favorite the Pirate episode and I just lost to irony of the guy who want's people to be lazy is more active then the hero. Rest In Peace, we shall never forget your greatness.

The fact you put songs from shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and the Tangled series PLUS know about Jewish traditions like booing Haman and the triangle hamantaschen cookies being based on his hat really shows how much research went into this video. Major kudos, Scorcher!

“This Day Aria” was my favorite My Little Pony Villain Song.

This day aria is so good but cozy glow’s “Better way to be Bad” hella slaps especially with the violin that should’ve gotten a honorable mention

I just realized what Ember’s show looked familiar… apparently it reminds me of “welcome to the show” which only from what I’ve seen from these few clips kinda look similar

I still remember seeing Lazy Town on Jetix and Disney XD. Fun times. Speaking of Jetix, I wonder how many shows from that channel will end up here.

The fact that This Day Aria is still one of the best songs from the show, if not arguably the best, is what made it so genius for Tridashie to make a YTP of it, even with the YTP's lyrics being based around Among Us jokes.

Using "Livin' La Furiosa" as a transition is brilliant. If there's one thing I miss about Bibleman, it's the villain songs of Brian Lemmons. I'll never understand why they got dubbed over for the DVD releases.

Speaking of NPH he did a lot of work for animated show musical episodes like Dr. Blowhole in Penguins of Madagascar and the Music Meister in Batman:The Brave and the Bold.

Okay, so while I liked the choice for Rapuzel's Tangled Adventure, I feel like Nothing Left To Lose was a better song since it was a duet between the current villain and someone who recently was redeemed after becoming a villain and the risks of revenge.

This day aria is really freaking good. I also love that it's pretty much a duet between main antagonist of season 2 and one of mlp's better side characters. Though I'll be honest, the Queen was the better of the two in the song

I love “What’s The Use Of Feeling Blue?” cause of the double meaning. It could be heard as Yellow asking Blue about what’s the use of feeling at all or it could be heard as what’s the use of feeling sad when there are other things to focus on.

I agree with you about Crossing The Line. I personally always saw it as the song former villains would sing as they leave their old group behind like Jinx from Teen Titans, especially when you take the cut lyrics into account.
