I know you picked "Smile Like You Mean It" for "Hazbin Hotel", but... The thing I love about "Insane" is that it's like: Most people end up in Hell and freak out, break down, etc... Alastor showed up in Hell and went: "FINALLY, somewhere I can have some *real* fun!" Seriously... "The things I did up there were high school, and now I'm going for my degree" just... yes.

To touch a bit on Insane, think about it; the initial Alastor singer was such a fan of his own character he made a fan song about him. He's that cool.

Two things: 1: I love that The Stupendium writes and sings songs I don't have to strain to understand. 2: I also love that the bumps between the entries is basically the number 11 slot for the video.

we need a sequel to "It Just Works." Called "It Still Works" about how they did the same trick for Starfield, and still got people to fall for it.

The April Fools joke here is you thinking that it was going to be an April Fools joke when it was just a normal video and the April Fools was for something else

I will defend "Discord" forever but I do see what you are saying. As someone who still listens to "Discordant Decipher" regularly, I am thrilled to see it here. "It Just Works!" is a masterpiece. (Awesome list Josh and Crew!)

Someone else also pointed out in Smile Like You Mean It, the line "Grit your teeth and get right to it," now has an extra mean about Alastor himself now we know the Radio Demon is under contract too.

"Tip the scales" is epic in so many regards and I'm glad you love it as much as me and so many others, one thing to note, the lyric isn't "Take on asunder as we cry blood and thunder." It's actually, "Tear Kong asunder as we cry blood and thunder." I misheard it as such for a while too though, figured I'd just make that clear since it adds even more gravitas to the song.

Fun fact: Bendy and the Ink Machine is actually based off the Fleischers drama. Those two in the later years HATED each other, and Bendy embodies that to a TEE X3

The simple part in “Smile Like You Mean It” that makes it so damn worth putting it in for me, is “shake the STATUS QUO in upheaval” like cmon it’s all the small interwoven things you could setup

I wasn't expecting Tip the Scale to show up here but I'm definietely not complaining.

I was going to be livid if you didn't feature Tip the Scales in some form during this list. Super glad that this was #1! All hail the King of the Kremlings!

Discordant Decipher is one of my repeated songs currently. That backwards message before Brandon Yates’ chorus: “Why are listening to this part backwards? Don’t tell me you’re some kind of tinfoiler. You do know this song doesn’t decide who wins, right?” is just genius!

The thing about "Sun of the Night" that Josh didn’t mention is that is only merely the beginning of an AU story by Jyc Row as told through music; a story that begins (I believe) with Celestia going mad with power and turning into Daybreaker, forcing Luna to amass an army, a Lunar Rebellion (the next song after Sun of the Night), to fight her sister. When that doesn't work, she has no choice but to embrace her own dark side to level the playing field, leading to the song "Night Queen"

While I do prefer Build Our Machine, I still love Welcome Home and I'm really glad it's on the list. Also Tip the Scales absolutely DESERVED to be Number One. Not only was it beautifully animated, but Benedict's still got it as the Kremling Kommander and nailed the song!

Since you mentioned the song, wanna give a shout-out to the fact that insanity, despite it merely being a hazbin fan song, was not only considered to be canon allastor by vivziepop (the song was written and performed by allastor's pilot singing actor), but was added to fortnite in the form of an emote.

I absolutely loved that King K. Rool song, if they ever do make a DK movie they better hire the people involved with it because it's just too perfect

Joker's Song is one of my all-time favorite Miracle of Sound songs. I just about screamed and jumped for joy when I saw it on the list! 😊

"Smile Like You Mean It" ended up being pretty poignant. Alastor keeping a smile is something he not only talks about with Charlie in a moment he's less guarded, we the audience see how he's desperately relying on it. His powers and situation are infinitely less secure than he wants everyone to believe. Everyone is living it up in the finale song, he runs to the corner for a mental breakdown.

I’m so glad Jyc Row made the list. So many of their songs in their Infinite Eclipse line are great. Sun of the Night so happens to be one of them.

I hope this hints at the possibility of a top 10 Death Battle tracks some day, that's got enough bops to make multiple lists. ESPECIALLY if you open it up to the fan commissioned tracks. Reverse Rosé, Fallen Gods, All-Consuming, Final Formers, Hollow Dreams, Diabolical Invincible Me, Infection Perfection, etc. And that’s just the lyrical stuff.

Okay you have no idea how much i SQUEALED when I saw ParanoidDJ on the list! I'm just so proud that he's getting the recognition he deserves and the fact you mentioned that Vivize made his fan song for Stolas canon was the happiest day of my life!!

I actually think that he should’ve talked a little bit more about. “ keep getting stronger” Because the funny thing is with just a little bit of tweaking, it practically predicted the threat of the final season of MLP.

Unbroken is such an underrated song

April first being an experiment in exploring ideas of content sounds like a great new tradition. Especially with a collection of songs like these.

Thank you so much for including a song from Man on the Internet! Despite all they've done, they still feel relatively unknown in the fandomsphere, so it's always nice to see their hard work getting noticed and appreciated! On top of that, Unbroken is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and was also one of their first completely original songs. It really nails what Afton's character should be, and I love how it's being recognized here. Great list, Josh! I now have a lot more songs to add to my growing playlist : D

I personally like "Number 9" by Aviators for a Death villain song, but totally understand why you chose the one you did. You're right in that it's different from all the others by presenting a victim's point of view too. In fact, I'm surprised more creators haven't taken advantage of that pov. Discordant Decipher is a great edition. Brandon Yates knows how to make good fight music. If I were to think of an honorable mention, it would have to be Juno Songs' Battle! Lab Zero. Both versions.

In terms of Death songs, I have a preference for Number Nine by the Aviators. Its chilling lyrics told in a Synth Pop style is a unique combination that perfectly encapsulates the character.

Was wondering which MLP Fanmade song would make it on here. Granted my fav was Stronger, but seeing Jync Row get the pick is TOTALLY great too. 1/3rd of my MLP playlist is his music lol.

A very fascinating list that shows not only how creative the fans are, but also reveals just how deep villain songs are and analyzes the trends in how they go across the years. I know fandoms at their worst are horrific, but when you find those that truly care for what they love, the art they make conveys what spoke to them to begin with and offers some new insight.

One pick I think also deserves an Honorable mention is Roar of the Jungle Dragon by DmDokuro. This was a song made for a Boss for a Terraria Mod. It's the second phase theme for Jungle Dragon Yharon. A little lore here. Yharon is the closest companion of Yharim, the Main Antagonist of the Terraria Calamity Mod. Yharim is a real monster. Turning an Ocean into a Desert just because the sea king rejected Yharim's alliance proposal just as an example. Throughout your playthrough of Calamity, Yharon is watching you and observing your accomplishments because his Master believes you can be a tool to further his goals. Only when you actually become a Threat by slaying Gods and other God Slayers will Yharon allow you to fight him Roar of the Jungle Dragon is about the Dragon Yharon realizing that the Player character may actually end up winning and the song is sung as a message to his Master that the Player has become too strong beyond control and that you may very well end Yharim's reign of terror in blood. But Yharon will continue to fight as a testament to his Loyalty to his master. Declaring that he will win Yharim's War but ending with a warning that shpuld Yharon fail to kill you, Yharim will hear his closest companion's Final Dying *Roar*

I loved Villain Songs month. Some of the videos that I keep coming back to most, along with the annual fails list (Parody of 1985 for next year's fails list?), and you introduced me to a lot of gems I'd never heard before, like "No Bad News," "Biggering," "Room of the Angels," "Look Pimpin'," "Black Sheep," and "Under Our Spell," to name a few. And you already introduced me to "It Just Works" before this video, but I'm delighted to see more. Geez, these are good...I like the Cult of the Lamb one used as transition, and Number 1 is absolute GOLD. 6 and 3 would be my other favorites out of these, I think. Thank you immensely for all of the tedium you and yours surely went through for this video, Josh.
