Have a feeling someone didn’t do their due diligence and validate the existing structure for the new trains higher COG. That will produce a lot higher moments and torsions on those support members and connections.
I think Zamperla was blowing smoke up CP butt when Tony Clark stated it wouldn’t be a all season closure. The peak is over, kids are already going back to school and the summer travel season has winded down. 56 days left for the park close for the season. WOW CP, what a cluster this was. I hope they learned their lesson. Zamperla, you are way out of your league. Even if the ride opened tomorrow, people will never forget this. You had a chance to blow it out of the water, but unfortunately you fell flat on your face. Stick to what you are good at, flat rides. You don’t see LaBron James tried to play in the NFL. He sticks to what he is great at!
I’ve been rather optimistic until now. I really doubt it opens this week, but I will do my best to snoop around when I take my family for two nights to Hotel Breakers Wednesday and Thursday nights. If you are around I’d love to say hello!
It's really sad that TT2 been down for this long it's so sad 😭! I don't have any faith that TT2 will reopen this year but then again Cedar point did extend the season until November 2nd so who knows what that means ! Maybe they might reopen it this year but Doubth it !!! I think it reopens in 2025 ! I really think Cedar point needs to Update us though the lack of updates is pathetic!!!
Hi ghoster, I was at cedar point today and got big news on top thrill. I was talking to the millenium crew, and while talking about top thrill, they said, "I can't say much, but I can say that someone messed up big time." So interpret that as you will.
If the ride reopens on Hallow weekends, Cedar Point Park is going to be so super incredibly insanely busy. The park will be so busy that I don't even think a fast pass is going to help much. Think of the thousands of people that didn't get a chance to ride and the season long of fastpass people that will marathon it a lot.
With this extended closure, I think I'd be okay with waiting a few seasons to ride the ride when I am reassured that the ride has some performance history etc.
The biggest irritation with this is how transparent the park has NOT been about what’s going on. Stop being secretive. This ride doesn’t have a great reputation and it’s best to just be real with people.
They're working on it again this morning. It looks like they were going to remove the remaining seats. Hard to tell. Didn't really stop since the whole situation is frustrating. Thanks for all of your coverage on this.
Starting my Cedar Point trip now for 3 days. Second visit. OG dragster was closed my first visit too. Never thought TT2 would be closed for this visit when i booked it, and when it first shut down 3 months ago!!! 😂
Cedar Point needs an extreme launch coaster in their line up. They should have had Intamin fix TTD. It has been said multiple times, cost was the deciding factor to reimagine it, not the accident.
@@WapoStudios While Maverick is amazing and my third favorite coaster at the park. It's top speed is 72MPH. When I think extreme launch coaster, I think a 100+ MPH launch. TTD was my fave and I predict TT2 will be my new fave. Millie is my second fave at the park due to it's 93 MPH top speed. As you can probably tell, my two favorite coaster elements are launches and top speed.
I got to ride at May 1st with my sister awesome ride and honestly you know what I don't care if it takes till next year to fix it just make it right make it safe and I'm good...I can wait
I'm starting to think the old Intamin track they didn't replace on the tower and top hat needs replaced! With CP not saying what's going on with TT2 or any updates in over two months I think the problem is alot bigger and not good!
The longer this goes the more likely that this problem involved multiple engineering blunders. In my opinion, the reason we don’t have a real update is because there are multiple problems being fixed and Zamperla and by extension, CP, don’t want to release an update saying “we failed to predict X, and we failed to taken into account Y, and we overestimated Z. It makes them look sloppy and incompetent…less so than saying there was one problem with the wheel bogies that our models did not predict.
Yeah it’s been that long almost since the last update !! They should just have Intamin build some new trains and open it up in the 25 season. What a BIG fail by CP and Zamperla !
I’d agree, but the ride literally closed for 2 years because of Intamin trains so i’m not seeing the point here. Intamin trains nearly killed a human being and the ride sat for years. Zamperla and cedar point noticed an issue before anyone got hurt and its been 3 months. While i get its disappointing, i think were all too quick to forget intamin is to blame for the 2 year downtime to begin with and unreliability from the start.
@@GhosterCoasters. King da ka was built by Intamin and has not had the problems or any serious injuries that Dragster has had that I know of……and is still operating. The train issue was partly CP’s maintenance departments fault I think.
Intamin trains that were 20 years old, i think its on maintenance at some point l, especially considering. The wrong grade bolts were found to be used, im surpised there arent maintenance or park managers facing neglegence and/or manslaughter charges...CP obviously has someone in their pocket..its not like an intamin train killed someone in the first month or even 5 years@@GhosterCoasters
@@GhosterCoastersYeah after 20 years of using the same train I don't think it's fair to just blame Intamin. It's kinda like buying a car and doing all the work and maintenance yourself for 20 years. It doesn't make sense to make claims against the car manufacturer when you're the one maintaining the car and putting your handsin it. Intamin delivered a train that worked for 20 years. CP is at fault and are the only ones to blame for that accident.
I have been saying 2025 now since mid-June. My cynical brain is starting to think it won't reopen. I still believe that they have to build new trains and lower the center of gravity to where the Intamin trains were. Hopefully, Im wrong, and it opens for Labor Day weekend.
That quarter turn just before the top hat is probably too aggressive at that speed they will probably retrack that section and make it a little less aggressive to take some of the strain of the wheel assemblies....
The ride isn't opening this year. If they're now modifying trains, there's absolutely no way. All sorts of testing needs to be done and there just isn't time left in the season.
This is a disaster. It isn't opening till next season if then. They are keeping it quiet so people keep coming to the park hoping it opens. The GP isn't very bright. They don't want attendance to go down. They are actually down in attendance this season allegedly. 😊
I don't think itll ever reopen. Apparently they found a dangerous structural issue with the structure as well as faulty trains. As it is now, its a terrible accident waiting to happen and theyll need much clearance and testing. I doubt CP will put that much money into it. Its not even a good ride. Still a one trick pony.
what do you think the markings on the supports are all about? I don't think it will open this year. it's mocking us. maybe the seagulls can use it to build nests on
Halloweekends starts September 12th if it’s not announced to open by then it’s not gonna reopen this year makes almost no sense to open it any time after that and they will push it to 2025
So I was out there last week and back on July 1st everything indicated it's done for the season it's basically need a pretty significant overhaul to the point everything is indicating it's going to be completely retracked that hasn't already been done.v there's a lot talk of stresses add not just the trains but also on the structure itself they're the launches because of the power of the launch is different than it is originally. There's a lot of markings on of all the steel work but nothing indicates there's a chance in hell it's going to open this year. As much as I would love it to unfortunately we are looking at a major overhaul. I don't think Cedar point would tear it down because it's an iconic piece of the Park but who knows. now I mentioned stress on the structure they were noticing their launches even during recent testing that the actual base structure was shaking and moving more than they have really would like it to nor anticipated when they originally "redesigned" it. We could be looking at a complete retracting like what was done to the hulk at Islands of adventure
If that is true I feel like they would have caught that in the very early days of testing in December and early 2024. They did test this ride for a very long time compared to how long they test other coasters that come to CP. Oh well I went on it once and it was great, haven’t used my season pass since tho🤣
It would be nice if it were to open for Labor Day weekend and then Tony wouldn’t look like a total liar but at that point how is TT2 going to handle the cool fall weather during Hallow weekends
Probably true but most people don’t care about only one ride and will go anyways. Would be pretty scummy to open it for haploweekends considering they already pretty much sell out that every weekend. Will almost certainly be next year, but season passes need to roll over…I only bought mine for TT2. Luckily I went to the preview event and got to ride 5x. It’s an awesome ride and will be worth the wait guys! 👍
Hearing from employees that there's no shot for 2025. The trains are also apparently not the only issue. As much as I wanted good things for the Point, and for Zamperla to be able to rise to the challenge with their new tech...I'm really disappointed that CP couldn't have gotten over themselves and handed the project to Intamin.
I’m a little disappointed that they haven’t given an update. I would appreciate one every two weeks even if it’s just a slight change to the wording. It’s been a bit concerning. Great show as always!🤙
People have to realize ... this is a humongous ride and technically they wont have known issues until people stary getting on it...people keep saying intamin should have etc......are yall forgetting there are intamin execs and engineers in zamperla?.......stop saying intamin is the savior because they arent lol
Yea but assuming these are the engineers intamin let go during their years of reliability problems. Never said zamperla poached them just that they were prior intamin engineers.
The previous CEO said Top Thrill Dragster was his biggest mistake out of the dozen of coasters he had built at Cedar Point. I wish Cedar Point and Six Flags would cut the losses and build us a new giga coaster that would also utilize the land the water ride sits on due to be demolished at the beginning of September. This ride is an act of God that it should never operate again.
Don’t get me wrong I want to ride TT2 but part of me also wants this to fail to teach CP a lesson. I was strongly opposed to the Zamperla decision considering they couldn’t even build a wild mouse that works.
This is exactly correct! They have used the “cheapest option” for every problem they have faced in the last 5 years. This is what’s running the park into the ground. Losing restaurants because they won’t sign extension contracts, not paying preventative maintenance(or at least much), getting rid of employee positions they really need(I’m looking at you Maverick fast lane entrance employee), and all while charging more! Really miss the good ole days 😢
@@rezz836 and they never seem to learn. time after time, they go for the cheapest option, and they end up paying the same if not more in unexpected costs, more maintenance, correcting mistakes, lawyers, etc.
What is bad is that TT2 could have been the best re imagined coaster of this century. Everyone all over the world was excited. The management at Cedar Fair wasted a huge opportunity to make a splash. Another reason Six Flags is in charge... we will see.
Horrible for season pass holders who bought passes for this ride i havent even used my pass. Sucks for sure this season is not good for coasters with all the coasters having issues this year steel curtain top thrill 2 even hyperia having issues kid flash coasters.
Why are you always doubling up on gratitude and subscribing at the beginning AND end of your videos?? You only need to do that once man… at the end. Lol.. it sounds repetitive/overreached. I appreciate the content but it’s unnecessary.
Cause people with way more subs than you and I say I should be, and I ensure my paid subscribers are mentioned before you go click off the video. Sorry but not going anywhere, end of the vid y’all click away before they get the fair mentions.
Just face it, people! That damn coaster ain’t reopening this year. CP will work on it in the down times, when it isn’t too cold. It will probably reopen in 2025 will all the modifications done and completed. It will probably be a lot better than before. Once again, as far as it to reopen this year, don’t hold your breath! Peace.
I understand that all the downtime wasn't something they could predict but the fact that cedar fair is posting 0 information while still cramping advertising for the ride down our throats is a load. After 2 weeks they should have ither pulled the adds or at least added a disclaimer stating it's down status in the adds. And after 3 months they haven't made any sort of meaningful update, hey we have found this issue, we are looking into what is causing the issue, we are running simulations to attempt to find y it is breaking we think we might have a idea we are trying to manufacture a part that may resolve the issue, not to mention no one has said anything about hey the ride is down anyway let's solve the locker issue to make it more like Steve. Now I'm sure people are going to troll about how I'm intitled or just ride something else but if you went to go see a concert and the headliner didn't play you would be mad too. And yes I am intitled that's what paying to do something is for it "intitles you to a service."
