I didn’t expect Cedar Point to get a big coaster for 2023, since Gatekeeper is part of The Boardwalk area. I’m satisfied with these Cedar Fair announcements honestly.
@@StacyRayl It doesn’t matter, it’s still a large thrill coaster, so building another one right next to it in the same area wouldn’t make sense. Plus with more flat rides being relocated then the boardwalk, they wouldn’t have room to build a large coaster.
I'm honestly inpressed with how they are sprucing up that area of the park and the spinning coaster is a very welcome addition! When it comes to Dragster I stand with you in believing it will reopen. When it comes to corkscrew I think we couod very well see it get axed in the next few years, unless Cedar Point got creative and worked around it. The future of Cedar Point is very bright!
This was highly needed. It looks like a fun ride. Great for older people and kids. Great for people who are scared of heights. Cedar Point has removed more flat rides/small rides than they have installed within the last 20 years. It would have been nice if they added a New flat ride as well. Like a new Witches Wheel or something else.
I see next season being the last season of Corkscrew. In the plot of land I see either a Gerstlauetr infinity coaster with a vertical lift, or a single rail RMC. Both would fit in that plot of land, and bring something different to the park.
I was thinking the same! Honestly, I think they're gonna create a new/improved Corkscrew perhaps. They get rid of Corkscrew and have chance rides come in and maybe do a mild version of their Hyper GT-X coasters. It's not a coincidence that they moved Matterhorn/Scrambler.
Same here. Since Corkscrew gets low ridership these days because of it's age, tear it out and put in the world's largest Gertslauer Infiniti, with IT'S version of the corkscrew elements going over the midway, paying homage to Corkscrew. Call it: Surfs Up
It's possible. Moving Matterhorn and Scrambler to the Boardwalk frees up a little more space at the current turn of Corkscrew (between the vertical loop and corkscrew rolls).
I was there last Sunday and there were blue and hot pink paint marks around Corkscrew. I don't know exactly what those colors mean other than something is going to happen. also spotted the paint marks around Dragster. an Infinity coaster with a sweet KCL lighting package would be a great replacement for Corkscrew
The fact that he says 18 is huge because if you count up the coaster and include Pipe Scream, Top Thrill Dragster, and the new wild mouse, you get 18. I was worried about how they count Pipe Scream. I would like to see Corkscrew go. It is my least favorite arrow i've been on. Very rough. New boardwalk area looks nice. Can't wait for all the coaster credit counters to go nuts waiting in a 2 hour line to get the new wild mouse credit.
@@noahb2804 I would suggest looking again. They can remove some buildings in that area as well. They would be able to fit something with the removal of cockscrew and the flats that were relocated,
@@alantrotter2077 very true. i commented that before getting to that part of the video haha. if they just removed corkscrew i don't think there would be enough room for something major, but with the relocation of the flats and if they were able to remove some buildings they could definitely put something there
I was actually quite positive Dragster was gone. But this makes me happy to hear it's staying. I love the new Boardwalk designed area too. Keep up the good work Brandon!
I really like the boardwalk addition. The beachside really needed some attention. It's nice to see them add a coaster most people can enjoy. Cedar Point will have something huge down the road....no worries. I also like the additions to Worlds of Fun and Canada's Wonderland.
I love wild mouse coasters so I have no issue with this. But I'm more excited about The Boardwalk. This park historically is a boardwalk park on a grand scale and I think they should really embrace that. I'd love to see them get a bunch of carnival lights to light up that area at night. In the future I'd love to see boardwalk style dark ride like Haunted Castle at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk or Haunted Mansion at Knoebels.
A dark ride is always a must. I’d actually wouldn’t mind them bringing in Sally’s Scream in the Dark concept. Or maybe even the 5 Nights at Freddy’s ride concept
I agree - this boardwalk could really connect with CP's historic roots. I hadn't thought of how nice it could look after dark, too! Great point. No pun intended oh gosh ha.
On instagram, Tony went live with zamperla stating that this new spinning coaster is a great stepping stone for younger riders between the kiddie coasters and corkscrew and iron dragon. I don’t think he would’ve said that if they were taking corkscrew down.
I think Corkscrew could use some new trains if they can source some with better restraints. As for its lifespan, I doubt there's an issue. The question is always ride quality - which isn't great but improved trains would help it.
Do you think it's possible the new roller coaster will be located over a water feature? Artwork lines up with the little, newly formed body of water in the construction area. Could be flooded hole dig for the rides foundation too lol.
@@KeepRidinCoasters I'll settle for decent landscaping instead of just dirt or gravel. Their artwork shows trees that dwarf the humans. Usually, Cedar Point uses 6-12 ft trees around new attractions. Bigger trees are expensive to transplant.
For me TTD reopening is the best news. I can't wait until they officially announce it! The Wild Mouse looks fun. I think Iron Dragon will leave before Corkscrew.
There won't be any exciting announcements about TTD. They may announce it for 2023 along with a PR like statement of "we take guess safety serious". Also yeah Corkscrew isn't going anywhere. There is still plenty of Arrows out there for CP to use as refurbs (anaconda) Iron Dragon is definitely the next in line for the chopping block.
I will say, I’m very impressed with these changes, lookin forward to riding wild mouse next year. If they end up removing corkscrew, they could put in a coaster that’s in between 120-150 ft tall, inversion free
Cedar Point and Cedar Point only is considering Pipe Scream a coaster, so that's where 18 comes in. But I think there is a consensus that it's not a coaster.
@@flipslips2192 If they remove Dragster then it'd be 16 if you don't count Pipe Scream. But CP themselves are counting Pipe Scream, which is 17 counting Dragster, and they are marketing Wild Mouse as their 18th. Hope that makes sense.
Well Zamperla calls that model the Disk'O Coaster so is it any wonder? This also is the Zamperla connection along with many flat rides throughout the various Snoopy kids areas plus Woodstock's Express at Dorney Park. Let's just say they have a pretty good idea of the quality and service of Zamperla. I wouldn't be surprised if CGA's Tiki Twirl were reloccated to another park in the chain (that doesn't have a Disk'O Coaster) in the upcoming years and promoted as a new coaster.
It is on a track, it uses gravity and it coasts. It isn't powered the entire time and can and has valleyed, therefore it is a coaster. RCDB doesn't count it because their main guy said to me it doesn't "feel" like a coaster. They are a database and not a governing body. They will not provide a definition of what makes a coaster. They say Pipescream is too similar to a Zamperla Rock N Tug, which is a halfpipe. Pipescream is a Zamperla extended Disk-o, with 2 extra small hills. They count most halfpipes as coasters, but not extended Disk-o's. They don't follow any rules for classifications, but if they count Avatar Airbender and Elitch Gardens' halfpipe as coasters, but not regular or extended Disk-o's...they are making things up as they go!
@@robertpolk9910 I’m pretty stingy when it comes to credits. I don’t count powered coasters as credits ( I barely count credits at all.) I do know this, I don’t rely on rcdb or parks marketing departments to tell me what is or isn’t a coaster. I give Duane a lot of credit for what he has created with rcdb, but it’s not the end-all, be-all for me.
@@jeremy6732 that was the idea! Launch forward to go a quarter of the way up the top hat, launch backwards up a vertical spike, and then launch forwards one more time to go over the top hat
Love the Boardwalk area but they still need more wood coasters. I was hoping for a dueling GCI somewhere like the model they showed off at IIAPA several years ago.
Been a lot of coaster and park announcements today. I opened my facebook this morning and there was post after post of new coasters, attractions, areas, etc. Busy day. The new Boardwalk section looks amazing.
Much needed for the boardwalk. More family rides and a family coaster. CP has been targeting family rides and events the last few years and it’s about time we’re seeing those changes. As much as I love roller coasters and thrill rides… glad CP is getting more well rounded with their collection.
The new location you predicted could work but I think they would keep the corkscrews above the midway kinda like Alton towers, the problem with putting a coaster there is I don’t think they’d move the corkscrews
Not gonna lie, I think keeping just the corkscrews if Corkscrew is removed would look extremely tacky. I say either keep it (which would be my vote) or scrap it entirely.
For the Corkscrew rumor, I could see this being removed and replaced with the very first RMC T-Rex coaster. It would give Cedar Fair another opportunity to advertise a first of its kind experience with the increased capacity over the raptors. Also if they track is anything like a raptor track they are very customizable and could fit quiet easily in that plot of land.
What if after they move Matterhorn and Scrambler that they move the celebration stage to that spot opening up the whole section of midway on both sides by Iron Dragon?
I doubt they would put a roller coaster right next to the employee break area and food & bev office. I could be wrong though I just don't think they would wanna put that in the way through. Now that I think abt it they could fence it off. But the area you highlighted it's really close to an employee entrance, wardrobe office, food and beverage office, and employee break area.
There are 6 tarps in the staging area that are about the length of Dragsters trains, and it looks like Intamin markings on the tarps. Has to be the new trains for Dragster. Plus with CGA closing, I believe Demons parts will be coming to Cedar Point to keep Corkscrew going for years to come
I think these additions are solid for 2023. The Wild Mouse will be a great family coaster addition, while not obstructing the area much like Disaster Transport did.
i don't understand why the mine ride has a 48" height requirement. for some reason cedar fair has all their mine coaster with this height restriction. SIx Flags along with many other parks have theirs set to 42". Heck even you posted a video taking you son on Trailblazer at Hershey park with a height of 36". Cedar fair can easily increase he coasters available to their younger guests by dropping that safety company that they use like all the other parks have and make their own calls, they know what works. That being said the boardwalk area is a great add for the Point. Dragster on the other hand has 2 options. Sit SBNO and be replaced for 2024, or reopen with no one ride modifications. switching to to LIMs for essentially the same ride (to the GP) would require near all ground level track to be replaced at the least, plus at 5-6 new trains for the ride. I thought i read somewhere that each of dragsters current trains cost about a million themselves. Just seems like a lot of money to put into a near 20 year old ride or something that still might not be reliable. I think the reason there was no announcement on dragster was because they just started to sell next years passes. Announcing a removal would hurt sales. If they were opening it, it would help sales. my guess is cedar point will make an announcement near the end of Halloween or around Thanksgiving. and at the same time announce that it will be removed and make the announcement of their 2024 attraction (its replacement), and then also discounting the price on passes like they normally do. Just my thoughts, in no way do i feel i am 100% correct, but if the knew they were opening it next year, they would use that as a sales advantage
Great analysis and thoughts! I don’t know how HersheyPark mine train - same as Cedar Fairs - offer a 36 inch height requirement. But yet - 48 at the CF park. crazy!
Great video I was waiting for this. I have been to the park 4 times this year and on 2 of them corkscrew has been closed for most of the day and the other 2 had 1 train ops with no line. It has low ridership and I think it's time for it to go.
I don't really see a new coaster before 2025 since they're doing a lot for 2023, but I do think a big new coaster is due. I hope it's a single rail RMC with decent capacity (t-rex)... well actually I hope it's a big custom axis coaster but I think that's a lot less likely! But I think removing corkscrew is a good idea, you can't be too restricted by nostalgia and the ridership certainly isn't what it was. On the subject of family rides though, I'd also quite like to see them replace iron dragon sometime with a Mack powered family invert with some theming... it would be an awesome ride for the park and something very different from what they have, and could be something pretty different from the other installations of this model by swooping over the water too. Such a good ride system, I can't believe that a park in the US hasn't snapped one up yet!
Another fantastic video! I love the new designs for 2023. They really really need a huge food area to accommodate alot of guests. CP is also lacking in family coasters so I think the new coaster addition is really good. I think that new space would be amazing for an RMC Raptor if they remove corkscrew. CP has one ride with insane airtime but overall their lineup is lacking the airtime that many coasters at their biggest competitor Kings Island has.
May I introduce Sky Hawk...a non-coaster that specializes in nothing but air time. Quick ride, high thrills, generally very short wait time. My favorite non-coaster ride
When I was at CP buying a Steel Vengeance shirt, this huge lightning storm sparked out of nowhere (no pun intended.) I saw this HUGE lightning bolt strike (from my perspective) Top Thrill Dragster. Then, the lights shut off and re-illuminated inside the store, because of a surge. I then connected these two moments, and, looking back on an LSM-powered Top Thrill Dragster idea that formed in my head after watching these videos, thought that a cool name for this new Top Thrill Dragster would be Top Thrill Dragster: Lightning Speed.
I was sitting there trying to remember where scrambler n Matterhorn sit and what they could do thanks for providing insite makes a lot of sense what they could do in the future exciting times at the point!
For ttd I definitely think a Full refurbishment is happening new trains lsm launch and possibly some retracking them saying 18 coasters and Lights on I think confirms that plus removing ttd and corkscrew back to back years wouldn’t be good as far as the next coaster I can see a Mack extreme spinner or maybe a rmc single rail
They also count the Zamperla Disco as a coaster, so that's the issue. The area right behind Matterhorn and Scrambler is right by Cedar Fair HQ and the main dining area, as well as a Live Entertainment office that I think is listed or something
Sure they could replace Corkscrew without going much beyond its current footprint and some stuff like the main employee dining hall and offices could be built between Blue Streak, the inner mall, the old pavilions, and Raptor (anything "on stage" besides a new restaurant/shop to try and hide it more might cause a lot of bottlenecking). There is also a food storage facility behind Headquarters and the next biggest thing I know of there is wardrobe and the water towers. If most of that is food/outfit storage-again front gate area (to the Coke Refresh before the bar on the other side of Millie and the Dippin Dots by Dragstar) and another facility by Steel Vengeance for Frontier Trail to the Magnum stalls via Frontier Town. They could always temporarily move offices into the Lakeside Pavilion corporate areas above the indoor buffet area they use for Summer Nights (at least in 2021) if any issues with moving on the mainland arose
Don’t expect they will lose corkscrew. They would use that new space from Matterhorn etc to expand some more peanuts rides for kids. Or another small coaster like the mouse trap.
Love these videos. I have to say I also love the idea of CP clearing out Corkscrew. I mean, I know how iconic it is, my own childhood is strongly rooted in watching it swirl by in awe, but I have never actually enjoyed riding it; never. I tried a few times and gave up, deciding it was a neck and head ache. Plus this year it has been down so many times when I've been to the park, and when it is up there is never a long line for it. I would never have thought of them removing it in the next years, but when you think of the revenue they could be pulling in with something new, it would be so much more viable to do exactly what you're saying. Bring that corner of the park back to life! I'm also excited about the new boardwalk. I am a coaster fan all the way, but I also have a 3-year-old and parents in their 70s and I totally see the appeal of a family coaster and renovating a huge section of the park for a more well-rounded experience. I also don't think it will take away from the coaster fanatic vibe; if anything it will also generate more profit to invest in more coasters down the line, but that's just me. So curious to find out what a little Euro jaunt is gonna do to Dragster ;)! They are up to a lot, it might all happen sooner than anyone could think and I can't wait to see what comes of all of it. Thanks for filming!
I was talking to a maintenance guy a few weeks ago, and he claimed that the lights were turned on on Dragster because a committee from the state of Ohio was there to inspect and decide what changes needed to be made before they would allow it to be reopened. They had not yet made their conclusions at that time, but he said it was NOT looking good for Dragster at that point. The takeaway of the conversation for me was that if it ever reopens, it likely won't be at Cedar Point -- but if it is, then changes to both the ride and the queue are inevitable.
Cedar Point now has a spinner what would be a unique experience for the park? Maybe Corkscrew's plot could be used for a Intamin Hot Rod, RMC Raptor or even an RMC T-Rex as a mono-rail coaster is not something the park is currently in possession of. I also think that Cedar Point could do a similar thing to what some other parks have done with their corkscrew coasters and that's leaving the corkscrews up for decoration. Maybe they could overgrow it with flowers. It's definitely interesting to see this happen.
@@jmuench420 i haven't been on many arrow coasters but from my experience with Vekoma those corkscrews don't do much but look good. I mean if they would build an airtime hill on top of the structure that'd be different
You're conjecture about Corkscrew is very valid...as I believe the same! Honestly, this is what I prefer they do! Get rid of the old coasters and bring in something new vs. keep adding coasters for a "coaster count"! I'm hoping for Chance rides to give us something, i.e. something similar to Lightning Run!
That area around Scrambler seems to be used more and more for employee services. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets completely blocked off from the park in a pretty sort of way.
Theme Park Predictions: *drops new Cedar Point video, theorizes on a new coaster and removal of corkscrew to make it happen* Cedar Point Project Managers: Write that down! Write that down!
Great news for TTD! I would like to see an RMC Raptor in that new plot. They could even mimic the classic corkscrew feature over the midway as part of the layout. Disaster Wicked Corkscrew!
I think new trains and new queue for dragster. I don’t think retracking the launch is out of the question but with the timeline it doesn’t feel in the cards. I do think this kind of spells doom for Corkscrew. With Vortex going it’s not unfeasible for it to be removed. My mom called it lol. Also you completely nailed the boardwalk prediction though! Family coaster and a restaurant. Some of your predictions can be bold but like. You’re not a Cedar Fair exec and you’re allowed to have fun hope for places you enjoy going to get something you enjoy. I also think the boardwalk refurb sets them up to put something really nice over there too! I think that’s why they did Tumbili at KD too. Spruce up the area while money is still tighter from Covid and then when you have more money get the big coasters. Then you don’t have to improve the area around the coaster because it’s already good.
I would like if Cedar Point could add the S&S Spin Shot conversion to at least one of the two shot/drop towers at Power Tower. They could market it as the Power Tower eXtreme. I feel like everyone seemingly forgot S&S made the Spin Shot announcement.
i was at CP yesterday and when i heard that Matterhorn and scrambler were being moved the first thought i had was good bye corkscrew. using the plot corkscrew is on plus the new open space and maybe even taking up those backlot buildings and parking lot and you got a nice chunk of land to use. before they said thet those 2 rides are moving i would have said that corkscrew will be there forever since there was nothing that can take that thin plot and work over the walkway the same way but now seeing the new available land i give corkscrew till 2026.
If you think about it they could also remove the little hut things by Scrambler and Mattahorn all the way to the restroom by Magnium entrance if Corkscrew leaves and they would have all of that room for a coaster - then the skyline would be TTD, Power Tower and the newest coaster (maybe a T?)
I'm surprised that Cedar Point is getting a new spinning wild mouse roller coaster! I was expecting it would it awesome and now it will be a great fit for the park! Also, I'm glad that Top Thrill Dragster is opening back in 2023! It's been over a while since Top Thrill Dragster closed down last year and I'm glad that they are opening up again! I agree that they should feature a LSM launch so that way the train will be so fast that it can reach to the top hat! I would love to see that! 😃☺ Fun Fact: Top Thrill Dragster opened up back in 2003 as the fastest and tallest roller coaster! SO this would mean that Top Thrill Dragster will be celebrating it's 20th Anniversary in 2023!🎉🎉🎉
Don’t you think they could remove some of the buildings next to the corkscrew? Maybe remove the buildings between corkscrew and the new boardwalk area? I don’t understand why those need to be in such prime spots?
I think they will put a restaurant where Matterhorn and Scrambler are. To keep up the quota of adding or renovating a restaurant or quick service food stand every year.
I think for sure Dragster is coming back. idk if we could say with any certainty that an LSM launch is coming. though, I hope for it. But the thing with LSM.. even if we didnt have enough length.... LSM could be on part of the curve upwards too 👀👀
The lack of music was disturbing lol, but still mostly true. Except for dragsters launch. They’re prolly gonna keep it as is, because that’s what dragster is mainly known as, the insane launch coaster
Score for Brandon! I was there yesterday! It's a zamperla! There are Spray paint markers in the dragster area.. meaning that the lsm launch has more validation now than later.
My hope is TTD stays and if they do indeed remove Corkscrew, they can add perhaps another launch... maybe take the records from Pantheon and create a racing themed zone, or "extreme speed" zone or something along those lines.
Your right about top thrill dragster. I talk to a park official last week. I mentioned it getting a new launch and he seid im not far off. The que line is gonna get covered areas also. I could see them pulling cork screw for something else but we'll see right
From a park design perspective, it'd be awkward to build elements of a new coaster beyond Skyride's station. That swooping turnaround into the corkscrews is an iconic focal point of the main midway. You wouldn't want to add anything that visually detracts from it. Whatever replaces Corkscrew (my bet is a B&M Surf), it'll almost certainly replicate that turnaround into a double corkscrew. CP cares too much about paying homage to its own history to do otherwise.
As much as I would hate to see it go, everyone likes to be winny little beeps about Corkscrew and the line usually isn't very long, so it's definitely got a higher risk; but what about those markers near dragsters station you mentioned? I feel like those are worth considering in whatever plan is in the works
As for the Wild Mouse...from the artist rendering it looks more like a Maurer Spinning Coaster than a Wild Mouse. Personally I would love to see Gravity Group develop a new version of the wood wild mouse. Had Cedar Point gone that route they could have called it "Scamper"
Interesting idea, but I wouldn't read anything into Matterhorn & Scrambler's relocation. It just consolidates a bunch of family rides into the front of the park by Planet Snoopy & Kiddy Kingdom. Wouldn't be surprised if CP just adds some more seating by Skyride and Corkscrew.
My concern is how many LSM's/how much power would be needed to launch TTD all the way up. Let's say there's a power shortage and TTD gets stuck at the very top!
they just announced that they’re closing top thrill dragster down forever😭😭 i’m so sad because i’ve never rode it before and it was closed when i went there back in may
let’s hope someday they can build something like it close to me (i live in indiana, holiday world is technically my home park). in the later years at least since technology is so much more advanced than it was back in 2003 with top thrill and 2005 with kingda ka. overall, i’m upset but i hope they can make up for it😭😭
I'm planing my 1st cedar point trip for 2023 I sincerely hope corkscrew is still operating. I know it's a crappy ride but it's iconic and I want to experience it. Was never interested in wicked twister so I'm not sad about that, but cork screw is a must ride. Even if I have a headache the rest of the day from it lol
I can agree why they would remove corkscrew, I agree it’s pretty old and it bangs my head around a lot. When I went there were also bees in the queue line
I love the new board walk news. I can't wait to buy my season pass for next season!!! I am praying you're right about Top Thrill Dragster! And I would love it if you are right about Corkscrew. That is one rough ride that just doesn't see high ridership. As a ride operator, that ride is also not fun to work to pop pedals.
After seeing the announcement I feel that music express would have been a bit of a better fit than Matterhorn. But we shall see what happens in the future.
An idea I've been toying with is to revamp the Power Tower. Make it taller, make it green. And call it the Demon Tower in remembrance of the Demon Drop. I'm loving the new boardwalk and the fact that TTD will come back. Hopefully those flat rides being moved will pave the way for something to happen. I don't see Corkscrew leaving as its a good coaster to break smaller kids on that haven't gone upside down yet. I see Iron Dragon leaving before Corkscrew.
Great Bear was talking about the removal of Corkscrew as well, saying it wasn't getting the ridership anymore. Also said that people said it was one the top ten worst coasters. I personally love the ride
Any magic mountain goers here? It looks like corkscrew is less bumpy than viper which is honestly kinda sad for viper since it opened so much earlier. Viper goes much faster tho so idk
So moving Matterhorn and Scrambler to the new Boardwalk area will make it more of the classic rides. The only one is Scrambler because when it first came out in the 50s or earlier but can't remember. Also the Matterhorn will make a great ride for the area too.
the board walk looks great .if they took corkscrew the could fit a single rail coaster i thought they where going to bring cycle mouse from great american
Hey theme park predictions. I don’t know if anyone has said this but I’m pretty sure they claimed it as 18 roller coasters because cedar point also counts Pipe scream as a roller coaster
Definitely thinking this will be perfect for cedar point ! Not a big fan of spinning in any way. Will probably just ride once for credit, but great for their line up. I would also have to agree that corkscrew won’t last much longer.. the last time I rode it, it beat the hell out of me. It is not tall person friendly by any means. Plus the fact they tell you to remove ear rings should tell you, that your going to get slammed around. I personally won’t miss it. However I do understand it’s a significance, just not for me.
They consider pipe scream as a coaster on their webpage so that brings its to 18 with wild mouse. That being said they should remove corkscrew a multi launch Mack would be great like copperhead strike… keep lots of loops over the midway make it intense add a nice top hat and make it on level with Maverick. Call “unscrewed” and use the similar font and color scheme for the trains.
Why would you use LSM? That's a HUGE power cost. And the issue with the ride WASNT due to the hydraulic launch. They got rid of WT because it cost too much and had too low ridership.
The hydraulic launch caused a lot Of issues and downtime. The cable has snapped multiple times and that was a huge safely hazard. Thank you for watching. 🎢
I mean I think corkscrew is definitely on its way out along with a completely new vision for that area. I could also see Gemini leaving eventually too!
I literally said to my wife that corkscrew was on the way out as soon as I heard Matterhorn and the scramble was moving. I think whatever they replace it with will have some thrill factor though seeing as this coaster is more family oriented.
“Why would they move Matterhorn and Scrambler?” Staffing. This is purely speculation: Matterhorn and Scrambler are isolated in the park when it comes to staffing. They were once part of the “Matterhorn Triangle” with Dodgems, but after that was moved it became difficult to keep enough staff there to run both. They experienced something similar with the Giant Wheel Triangle (Giant Wheel, Troika, Space Spiral) after Space Spiral was removed. So, by having Wild Mouse, Atomic Scrambler, Matterhorn, Calypso, Troika and Giant Wheel altogether, you can have staff rotate between rides easier, keeping them closed less and have guests happier. As for Corkscrew being removed…no. The biggest evidence against its removal is the trains: they were recently repainted. You don’t put money into redecorating your house before you demloision it. Yes, it’s rough and old. But it’s an icon to the park itself with the Corkscrews rolling over the midway. The buildings you mentioned next to corkscrew are for onsite maintenance, so they’re not going to rip those out either. The best guess I would have is another indoor restaurant or even a dark ride (Earthquake, Pirate Ride, ETC), but not a coaster. Cedar Fair is pushing hard on becoming a multi-day resort for families, and away from large scale coasters. They have PLENTY of those, and they don’t NEED more. They need to cover the lack of family focused rides, which is clearly what they’re going for with the boardwalk. Wild Mouse is part of that new direction. As much as thoosies are foaming at the mouth in fury with this, they’ve been spoiled for the past 20 years. Lastly: if any coaster is on the chopping block, it’s Iron Dragon. It has received no love in recent years, apart from the VR attempt. If anything, the biggest change is the line has gotten shorter (like Disaster Transport). What they could do there is take the two remaining trains and give them to Kings Island and Canada’s Wonderland. And, wouldn’t you know it, there’s a extremely popular ride next door that needs their queue rerouted. Saves money on maintenance, staffing, and solves a major safety issue. Just my thoughts, sorry it got long winded. As with anything in predicting things, I am not Cedar Point so I know nothing. Take everything I just said with several grains of salt.
I really hope that CP brings a gigantic 500 ft coaster to their park. They might have to take it up and over or under some other attractions, but could you imagine a gigantic steel coaster that shatters all present day records?!! It would be amazing!! Hope they do not remove Sky Ride. I love that ride. It saves so much walking and provides great views of the park. Nice content. Keep the videos coming.
Brandon I have the perfect coaster for that plot of land you mentioned. Since cedar fair works with zamperla how bout a zamperla thunderbolt in the plot if land you just mentioned....I let this comment sit here for a moment.
So we just got back from Hershey park. Which is one of are favorite parks. I was on great bear in the back and when going up about half way up the lift hill my restraint unlocked and was being head downhill by the seatbelt. I pulled it down and it locked back in place but I do not know why it happened. I do know how a B&M invert restraints work so I am very confused on why it happened. If you know why can you please tell me?
