Thank you for making this video. I'm shopping for a portable jump starter and I'm liking TopDon. I'd go into less detail with your examples and antecdotal details, but I'm glad I watched it.

You may want to take a look at the capacitor based jump packs I have one and have used it on my old 5.7 toyota engine with no issues. No issues with it being dead because it always is and can charge from even a "dead" battery. I carry some M12 tools and batteries and can theoretically charge from that (the M18 is to high of voltage on its own unfortunately though). Mine is from the overland community and from a companny called OZCharge. I think I have the 750 amp one.

The idea with the light is probably to connect the leads to the car battery first than plug it into the booster pack

Interesting features on this Topdon jump pack, very forward thinking in informing/warning the user about the status of the battery or improper clamping. Seems priced well for what it offers.

If you stick some rubber bands around the pack, it will stop it slipping off the engine and getting stuck down the bay.

Those little li-ion packs will never replace my JNC 660. You can't sit and crank on these little things, they won't work on completely flat batteries, and they can't be used to clamp up to other things to power them. Sure the AGM packs are a lot heavier, but their additional uses reach far more than the little packs.

thank you for this Doc. I have been meaning to get a good jumping system for my 91 f250 when I take it up the west coast again. The light does seem like an after thought. A hook attached to it would be decent for holding on most hoods I think. Cheers!

Thought that we had a few TOPDON ballasts at work. Apparently, they're TOPHORT. Exciting, I know.

I purchased the Schumacher SL1452. Great jump starter and the light is on the correct end too

I have the amazon taclife jump pack and it's never let me down, your right tho I make an effort to take it out of the car at night in winter out here in Colorado to make shure it works when I need it

My experience with batteries out in the Backcountry backpacking Ive learn to stuff them in my sleeping bag when temperatures are bellow freezing. It's possible when the jump starter goes dead from the cold, to put it against your body. I think I'm the old days they used to light a small fire under a car to warm it up, not advocating that, but you gotta do what you have to do.

I use the JNC 345 jump pack.

Have you tried any of the supercap jump starters

I mean lets be honest, you really ought to have a good headlamp in your "kit" or "vehicle" for that matter. I have a couple versions of these and need another for a separate V-8 rig, this may do the trick. The 15% off seems to be gone and I am only seeing the 10% off currently. What am I missing. BTW, great work again, lol... Besides coffee and "The Word" I seem to start my day with your latest video... :-)

The cables look to only be maybe 8 gage? I can't see that handling many amps. Certainly not for any length of time and without a lot of energy lost as heat. I think the concept is solid but I've never seen one of these lithium jump packs that looked like a well thought out quality item. Thanks for the look.

Doc, did you delete a video you put up the other day? Same day as the Gedore hammer video. Had something to do with axes and price jumps. Did you remove it or was it the RU-vid overlords?

You almost certainly could just connect some jump leads to a Milwaukee M18 battery.
