They won't. Toph is the most sexist character and the Netflix show runners don't like sexism. They will try to fix that with bending and fighting scenes.
@@AntoineBandeleI don’t think they will water her down now that season 1 is out and the fact that they got it out the way it felt like they were trying to rush to appease the actors growing up aswell as the pressure I truly believe now this will be slowed down I do believe there might be 2 part episodes for the final season I don’t see it happening for season 2 tho I do think if season 2 is pulled off Netflix will give them a bigger budget also since i do feel it is better for there to be shorter episode Netflix is known to pull the plug on the plus unexpectedly and I hope everything concludes in perfect timing I hope legend of Korra gets it time to shine because I did love and hate 😂 I hope Netflix changes for better with what I don’t like for Korra lol 🫶
Here's a theory, i think Guru will be cut entirely as a character and will be replaced with Avatar Yangchen. Eastern Air Temple is where I believe she was born and since Aang can only call upon his past lives while in their shrines, it would make sense that his fellow airbending avatar would be the one to try and guide him to mastering the Avatar State.
As for somebody who has never watched a single Avatar episode - This show checked all the boxes for a really entertaining series. I'm all for more seasons /episodes :)
If the show got 10 episodes each season it would be perfect to fix some of the cramming of the show and flow. Ie, if season 1 got 10 episodes they could have fit Aang being taugh water and introduced to fire bending, while also fixing the episode 5 pacing. Then the show might have been near perfect for what it is if involving more episodes but not too many more, I think a 10 episode count would be perfect without being too much
Yeah, I was disappointed that Aang never tried Firebending and hurt Katara like in the cartoon, or even learnt the basics of waterbending at least. Imagine if the next season starts with Aang already being a master at waterbending, and their excuse is the Aang being possessed by the water spirit at the finale made him very good at waterbending instantly.
@@e-davidi.7354 I agree with you and I believe that's exactly what the series is gonna do or like many believe there will be a time jump a year or two and he'll have experienced learning water bending, but I kinda prefer your suggestion even though it's less earned, which I feel like the audience loses either way unless they show a quick montage of Aang learning water bending
Of course 10 episodes would be perfect because that'd be the exact same amount of time as the animated show. I get the lower episode count causing condensing but it'd really help fix their issues if they kept to each season instead of arbitrarily adding in so much season 2 into 1. Season 1 felt like they were so afraid that they weren't going to have a season 2 that they had to put as much fan service into 1 while also keeping the overall narrative to a single season. But in order to do that they left out a lot, like like Aang's waterbending and Katara's personality.
@@Eric-kv5sz Well said! I greatly agree, I think they did cram too much into this first season, which gives me some hope that the next set of seasons will be better off for it to allow the show to breath and not feel as rushed. I really wish they didn't cram so much stuff especially season 2 content into the first season, but maybe it's for other reasons that'll pay off in future seasons 🤞🏻
If we don’t get an appas lost days episode then we better see a flash back for when Suki got jumped by azula so we would know how they pretended to be the Kyoshi Warriors. Hopefully🤞
I'm hoping they either get at least 10 episodes to work with here or that it's still 8 episodes but the episodes are longer, between 60-75 minutes each. This would make each episode roughly the length of a feature film and allow them to cover more ground. Season 1 for the most part worked for me because so much of the cartoons season 1 was filler material that making cuts was pretty easy and even fitting some stuff from season 2 in here so we don't have to worry about it later. But season 2 is almost all plot and story relevant so any cuts made are going to be substantial to some extent. More episodes would be ideal but longer ones could maybe work too. We gotta deal with the Library, the return to Omashu, Ba Sing Se, brainwashed Jet, the Dai Li, Azula and her crew, Zuko and Iroh on the run, and Aang learning Earth bending. But I'm sure Netflix is aware of both the praise and criticisms this first season has gotten and with how expensive and time consuming it is they definitely want to keep us watching so hopefully they take that criticism to heart and don't just ignore it. But we gotta do our part, be critical but be respectful, being angry and toxic doesn't do anyone any good.
I have a feeling that they're going to skip the whole Underground library episode since Wan Shi Tung (Not sure if i got the name of the giant Owl spirit right) was already shown in Season 1 in that spirit world. They probably already planned to remove that episode, which could be why the Owl was already shown early for... nostalgia at least. If they're really gonna skip the episode like i suspect, then the Gaang finding out bout the comet and Appa getting missing would have to happen another way. Just to clarify, i wish they do NOT remove the library episode completely.
Season 2-3 also have stronger source materials to pull from along with their experience in what worked/didn’t from season 1. Those alone will make these next two season better if no other changes are made.
😢 Noooooo I was hoping to see Imprisoned EP where we get to see Haru and his father reunited, but I doubt the filmmaker and writers will do him justice through storytelling.
I personally loved it, love it, love it. Avatar is my favorite anime. I think we need to give it a little more time because the series was seen on television a few years ago and this generation is getting to know it now.
Can’t wait for both seasons of the live action Avatar the Last Airbender show. I really enjoyed the first season and I really want more seasons of this franchise.
Here’s how I would envision it with 8 eps: EP 1 - The Avatar State + Return to Omashu EP 2 - Avatar Day + The Blind Bandit + the opening of Zuko Alone (maybe) EP 3 - Zuko Alone EP 4 - The Chase + Bitter Work EP 5 - The Library + The Desert EP 6 - The Drill + City of Walls and Secrets EP 7 - Lake Laogai + The Earth King + start of the Guru EP 8 - most of the Guru + Crossroads Appa’s Lost Days and Tales of Ba Sing Se are not determined yet
I wonder when Sang will finally learn of the comet, it's impending doom, and then learn water bending because for me, season one missed so many things that are crucial to the story, Sang is supposed to learn water bending before the finally, it was okay, like a 6/10 for me personally, but, I guess we're just gonna have to hope they do wayyyy better on the storytelling for season's 2 and 3, don't mess up the storyline to much, and just follow the structure already set by the series, because imo, the original show is the best series I've ever seen, perfect beginning to end, 10/10.
i feel like we kind of got it in the Kyoshi Island episode, with her taking over him. the rest of the episode isn't that importnat i feel@@thomasschellenberg3962
Completely agree. Much like a few British shows. 8 - 10 episodes, 42 minutes in length per season for a well executed story build up and character development.
Congrats on the milestone! I think Toph will be an early and necessary addition as well, and Aang's Earthbending should be central. Ba Sing Se might be introduced as Toph and or Bumi, telling everyone they want Aang to visit Ba Sing Se for its Earthbending resources. The library could also be introduced as the University in Ba Sing Se, further expanding Sokka's "engineer" arc. I don't know how Aang and Katara will begin their romance, since so many vital elements have been removed. If much more gets cut, it might as well be dropped IMHO. I was going to say that Appa's lost days was necessary, as it is fundamental to so many Book II points - Appa's separation, the journey to Ba Sing Se, Suki's imprisonment, Aang's anger and bitterness, Azula's infiltration of Ba Sing Se as a Kyoshi Warrior, the leaking of the invasion by the Earth King who gets kidnapped. But that's just me. I can see how having two episodes solely focused on one person (Zuko Alone & Appa's Lost Days) could be problematic, and untenable. If Appa's lost days is cut, Suki should stay in the team indefinitely in her expanded capacity, because the Boiling Rock would likely be cut as well (unless she is subsequently captured alongside Hakoda during the invasion). This would also mean there is no way Azula could pose as a Kyoshi Warrior due to Suki's presence. Perhaps Azula and Long Feng simply make an alliance? I hope Yangchen gets an expanded role, but this would likely be in a mentoring capacity, in which case, it might result in Guru Pathik being cut from the show entirely. Just my thoughts. Awesome vid!
I'm not entirely sure if Aang & Katara will be a thing in the live action. They may leave the romance up to fan interpretation given Cave of Two lovers was an important aspect as well as the Fortune Teller and both episodes were removed.
I got so much love for the animated series that i don't care how much mix reviews the first season got i just want more avatar❤ yh it was not perfect but i appreciate the effort Netflix did 2 make this live action remake of a cartoon i hold so dear🙂🤓
I was hoping Albert Kim would not try to appease everyone but he should listen to his team, his gut feeling and stay on track with the original storyline. He has been directing for a long time, he and his team are the professionals in filmmaking. I’m keeping an open mind in case they mess up Toph. I could simply stop watching. 🧐 🪷 💖
Let's hope they don't try to recreate her hairstyle. We don't need another situation like we had with Bumi and his armpit wigs. Not everything NEEDS to be so faithfully recreated.
Toph is gonne be by far the hardest character to nail in this show it kinda feels to me like no matter what they can't make justice for the character Also for jeong jeong I think they have to include him somewhere in season 2 to give Aang a reason to avoid firebennding like the original I really wish we get to see atleast a little if appa's lost days little moments from the tales of ba sing se like detective momo following the trails of appa's fur, zuko on a date and katara and toph bonding Also seeing as the show is going to expand things I wish they will expand more on iroh past when in ba sing se
I think they might cut the library. They changed where Zhao learned about the ocean and moon spirits in this show to being from the fire sages so there's no reference to the library and at the end of season 1 they show that Ozai has a stars thingy like in the library that tells him when the comet is coming. They've laid the groundwork for the library being cut, they just need a way for the Gaang to learn about the eclipse and the comet. They could still include it since they included the owl in season 1, so they saved a little time introducing him, but I think it might be cut.
I completely agree with you that it's best to cut rather than mix. The few mixes in your S2 predictions actually make perfect sense. I'd be more than happy if they follow your S2 predictions. As most have already said, how they portray Toph is going to make or break the entire future of the show on Netflix. Depending on how much they improve on S2 I may start wishing for a TLOK Netflix series but that's just overhype right now hoping they knock it out of the park with S2.
i hope they listen to what the fans want. i hated that aang never tried bending another element. and the thought he will learn it off screen is just a set up for UTTER FAILURE. and i hope they give katara a personality. because she felt like she blended into the background and i didn’t care for her.
Ooooo! Does makes me wonder who they got as Toph? Cause if they did got her to be the same age, then it may work. But if they found someone who is in her early 20’s, like 20-21 years of age, her appearance have to pass as a 14-15 years of age. Don’t get me wrong, which I have to state this, that they found someone, who played as Claudia for the current Interview with the Vampire that could pass the teenager age. But I’m just being honest that, that if, and I do mean IF they found someone as Toph that is close to Gordon age range, then we may see her by then. If not, and if she is just couple to 5 years older then him, as long she pass everything that we may hope on, then we still have something along the line.
I agree that they need to get Toph right and hopefully they let Aang and Katara get closer to the original personality wise. I'm hoping Tales of Ba Sing Se will make the cut but I am not sure. I at least want to see the Tale of Iroh and him singing Leaves from the Vine. I also hope they show Sokka high on cactus juice, that was too funny.
oh well I cannot wait for season 2 and 3 as there are a lot of heart pounding plots, turns and twists to expect. I hope the series adaptation will be able to pull this through and will meet viewers expectations. I just finish last night watching the animated series and it was really amazing..
This arrangement for episode is similar to what I thought about, zuko alone i bet will be a split episode that jump between zuko and the gang with a lot of similarities between the two, for season three i believe they need to have more episodes the third season is pretty stacked with all the episodes before and after the comet all the zuko missions and the episodes with Hama and Piandao are very important, maybe they will merge the two and sokka and Katara will train at same time in separate places.
I’m just saying that the first season was good with having multiple episodes into one, but there are more important plots in season 2 that can’t be left out. I think at least 2 more episodes would benefit. Plus they should give more budget since they decided to green light all the seasons.
I like the predictions, except removing Appa's Lost Days would be a huge let down for me. It's such a pivotal point for the story in my opinion and the original clearly wanted us to FEEL that loss because they stretched it out for so many episodes, which was an even longer amount of time when we couldn't binge when it originally aired live on Nick.
I love the live action unlike alot of the fanbase who are giving it way too much shit so im excited I have my critisms but I'm looking forward to this and yes that's a star wars reference
I wouldn't say "a lot of the fanbase" doesn't like the live action. It's extremely mixed. There's no clear majority imo. Dissenters just tend to be louder. To me, the most sensible review is a mixed one for the show. It ain't perfect. It's not even great. It's quite uneven in quality overall. But I do think it has solid enough footing to potentially be special in Season 2 and 3.
@@AntoineBandele while I I obviously agree the original show is better and always will be I love how they change things up and how they've adapted what they have from the show into live action and believe it has been done spectacularly The only thing I'm not as fond of is the fighting is fine but they really need to work on the choreography more because in comparison the animated one blows it outta the water I love this and was really hoping to see the rest adapted and maybe even Korra eventually But then again this is also coming from someone who actually didn't hate and liked the original live action movie that is 100% despised by the community and most of the critisms being completely justified xD
@@AntoineBandeleOnly if the Netflix producers aren't deaf to the criticisms. If they somehow still included exposition heavy dialogue and making the main gaang bland AGAIN with Zuko and Iroh being the only developed characters AGAIN, then this show has no hope.
@@BrysonRyenn no it really dosent You disliking the movie does not discredit my opinions on the adaption I can see the goods and bads in most everything I watch I didn't say it was a masterpiece or anything I just said I enjoyed it
I can tell some people will think that she will look this old. She'll probably look even younger than Aang. Prepare for that to be a big complaint from the fans
@@AntoineBandele well the thumbnail doesn't look like a 14 year old to me. This and the unusually common complaint that "the characters look too young" even they're supposed to be children 😂
@AntoineBandele I'm excited either way. I really liked this series. I wasn't a huge fan of the Koh episode and the season finale was missing something I couldn't put my finger on, but kept it from being fantastic, but I overall thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation. I do feel, that Netflix would benefit greatly from giving the next season at least 12 episodes as opposed to 8. Given the shows success, it wouldn't be a big risk for them
As a true fan of ATLA. This adaptation for me is great. If you're hating because you want the exact story from the animation, then rewatch the animation.
I disagree with his assessment that the show will not get more episodes per season, I believe the show was a success, it’s the ☝️ show in the world rn and people watched and loved it. There is an also a large group of people that hate it, but that doesn’t take away from the success. The biggest criticism was that people felt everything happened too quickly, I think they’ll expand season 2 and DEFINITELY season 3 into more episodes. They have to, Aang is gonna be learning 4 elements while dealing with the war, it will have AT LEAST 10 episodes as the seasons were originally planned to have
They mixed it up in season1 because they probably didn't anticipate they may not get to have season 2 and 3. Still i believe everyone will freak out when Aangs and Kitara romantic story. It wont be happening. I wonder what kind of twist will ATLA do this time.
They should make an episode just called “Alone” where they do all the Zuko alone part, but the episode starts (or the previous episode ends on a cliffhanger) with the contents of the chase, with the tension but not the final fight with the gaang united for the first time. Maybe Toph gets lost/runs off and the episode cuts between Zuko and her, developing both their characters. At the end of the episode, they could all come to help Aang against Azula and friends. I feel like that would be a cool way to integrate while adding more depth
I agree with you, the strongest moments of the adaptation were when it fully embraced the darker tones and tried to show something new. The Earth Kingdom soldier confronting Iroh was also a strong moment for me. You have to play to the strengths of the medium, and you just can't do what animation can do for certain aspects like the comedic moments.
Regarding the budget, I think if they had enough faith to greenlight 2 more seasons after less than 2 weeks that there absolutely will be an increase in budget. Stranger things season 4 was $270 Million and that was a few years ago and it has nowhere near the amount of VFX that Airbender needs. It's reasonable to assume that ATLA's budget will increase by at least double what season 1 was for book 2 and maybe even double that for book 3. They can't tell the rest of the story with the same budget. I'm with you on the amount of episodes though, I'd prefer 10 but it's very likely they stick to 8.
So far, the only strong characters are: - Zuko - Ozai - Azula - Iroh So you kind of see a pattern here? The "bad" guys are allowed to show more personality and character. They screwed up so many character traits from other people.
they better choose the actor for Toph WISELY. istg i might lose it if they do Toph dirty the way they did Azula don't play with me when it comes to my queen Toph!!!
They have to add the Appa episode because isn't that where Zuko finds him? That's vital to one of the reasons they let him join in season 3 as he quoted to them.
Thanks Netflix. I really did like it. It's not perfect yes but i do like almost all changes. A few were bad but that's it. At least we're gonna see more. Instead of just canceling another show i did like.
I hope they give us an episode of Ba Sing Se Tales. Or at least add that somehow into an episode. That was one of the best episodes in the entire series. It really got viewers connected to the characters. Iroh’s will probably make a lot people cry in a live version
I don't understand why some people complained? Yeah, the show wasn't perfect (hope they listen and fix the bumps) but, they did a great job with an honest adaptation. I love Netflix now. You too are doing a nice job here Mr. Bandele......twinkle toes. Can't wait to see Toph!
my wish for season 2 is that Aangs journey is a little flipped, in s01 he seemed way too serious and I think it might be a good character growth if in this adaption he has to learn to also have fun whilst not overdoing it
While fire bending is more prevalent in book 3, however in midst of Aang struggles with earth bending they come across Jonjon, and Aang figures he might as well try fire bending first since earth is so hard for him. Just a thought besides it won’t make sense to have a fire bending deserter in the fire nation, especially after what happened to the rebellion in the fire nation.
They have an opportunity to make things right! The “mixed bag” perception of the fans, mostly the core base, is appropriate and most of us are willing and wanted to see the series through. They just have to take into account the criticisms
She's my favorite character in both of the series. The whole Beifong Family is amazing and if they get Toph wrong I will be done watch the live action, because it will be MY third strike on the show for sure.
only natural to reach for the finale as fast as possible because the production of season 1 was 3 years ago. we would at least and unfortunately get some kind of justification on why everybody's so much older at the beginning of season 2.
Sokka’s sailing backstory had his dad disappointed that he needed help and couldn’t do it himself, I’m not sure how doing the same thing(having Aang and Katara help) would make any sense. Unless they change it up and he does do it himself. If they help but this time it’s a good thing, it’ll basically just be a clone of the Bumi resolution
I think your summary is a good one and agree if limited then cut things. I don't see Appa's lost day for the reasons you say and i think most fans of the animated version would be ok with that. Moving the initial azula encounter to Omashu makes total sense too. Let's hope the director agrees with you!
