Which algorithm of topology optimisation is used in the backend side like SIMP, BESO, ESO, level set etc. Actually, i want to do topology optimisation of a structure in a coding environment especially in python for research purpose. Also, can we know the backend algorithm of Ansys which is used for topology optimisation here? Also, can you suggest how to move forward to perform topology optimisation in python? Hope to hear from you soon.

We have not tried with Python. If you are looking in depth optimization, then you can use Altair Optistruct

Hello, Every time I try to do the topological analysis, I always get the same error, that says : "The files required from the linked analysis are missing for topology optimization solution. Please resolve the analysis selected in the Solution Selection prior to continuing" I have tried many different things, like removing the study files and trying again, remeshing, removing all constraints and forces, redoing the studies, nothing solves the problem. I even tried to uninstall the Ansys and reinstall and that did not help. Right now I use student version of Ansys 2021 R1. I have also tried interchanging the directories, changing the files in directories, copying files over one location to another and so on... How could I solve this problem? Looking forward to hearing from anyone!

Hello Idris, The optimization performed is based on modal analysis results and hence it is required to have modal analysis result file in respective directory before solving optimization analysis. Try to save the file after modal analysis run and then connect with optimization and then further it will ask for update, just update and do optimization analysis. We did not face any difficulties. We recorded this video while performing simulation only, it is just like live video. So you should also does not face any difficulties. Let us know if still your problem is not solved.

Hello! I'm facing the below error, can you help me with this? This error occurs while I try to validate the model (after min 23:12) Update failed for the Model component in Static Structural. Cannot refresh component Model in system Static Structural. The upstream component Results in system Structural Optimization has not generated a smoothed model file to consume.

Altair Optistruct is better for optimization analysis. You can perform all kind of optimization like size, shape, topology optimization with that, while ANSYS is well suited for faster response on topology optimization only.

I don't see any topology optimization in my Ansys workbench 16 . is this an extension package that needs to download separately?

After optimization, i am getting a rather difficult geometry by the software, which makes it more difficult to simplify the geometry? Any reason for this? Does the 2021 version work different than the one provided in this video?

You should get same results if you are following same methodology. Check the mesh size, which affects the optimized shape. Also check the retain geometry percentage (0.3 to 0.5).

Hi ! You might be solving prestress optimization problem or static coupled with optimization problem. It is asking to solve the first simulation deck and then connect that to optimization deck. Check your output directory, might be results file of first deck are not available. Once all the result files are available for optimization (as input) then this error will not come.

At present, shape optimizationis not available for ANSYS. You can do that in Altair Optistruct.

sir, i am considering an optimization on a wing profile. and as it a dynamical structure how to plan the optimization on such a structure.

You need consider all the dynamic loads for optimization. If you dont have dynamic loads only static then proceed with ANSYS. Ansys have some limitations for dynamic laods, if you have more dynamic loads then go with Altair Optistruct for optimization

@@graspengineering9249 i will try. i have acess to ansys and comsol for now, i am working on wind turbine transient 3D, its 1 D coupling case. fluid fluid interaction, i am trying to calculate force on the blade. the same blade shape i am planning to optimize.

I have a doubt regarding software whether it is student version or cracked version or license version. why I am asking is in the cracked version I am not getting the option "proximity and curvature" in mesh settings. And i am getting a different answer.

Hello. What ANSYS version are you using? There are changes in mesh setting as per ANSYS versions. You will not find combine curvature and proximity in latest version.

Sir Can you help me out. I am doing the topology optimization part but always getting error that "MAPDL solver terminated unexpectedly with error code 15. For more information check solver output." and in solver output I am getting this--- "The memory (-m) size requested [2112 mb] is not currently available. Reenter ANSYS command line with less memory requested. ************************************************************************ The above error is non-recoverable by ANSYS ANSYS run terminated by the indicated error Current database saved if possible."

This error is due to your system configuration. Try with Corse mesh first then proceed step by step for finer mesh.
