Best review out there about this knife. I bought it recently because I found It by accident at 74€ on Amazon, typically It costs about 150 here in EU so it was a must buy, even just for resale sake. Great knife, mediocre sheath IMHO. Too snug, no pushoff, and the loops came with the screws locked up so hard that they were basically soldered. I wanted to carry it with a ulticlip for IWB so I had to drill out the screws thus slightly damaging one of the eyelets. It's covered by the ulticlip now so no biggie, but still the retention is way too strong, so much so that you better pinch the tip of the sheath through the pants if you don't want to tear everything off during deployments throwing a poweful uppercut to whoever is beside you. I can see a custom sheath for this one in my future, but I want to see wether the stock one kinda relaxes a bit with use first. Apart from this it's a great little knife, plus the coating seems to work very very well keeping oxidation at bay yet not slowing down your cuts. I even take it with me on 1-2 hours trail runs and yet no oxidation yet, it really turns it into a semi stainless like Cruwear from what I've seen so far. It's also surprisingly good at food prep for such small blade.
@@OGBladeReviews thank you for the content, you definitely eased me up on my purchase. Does the sheath loosen up through time by any mean? I do fancy the idea of having one made with nice push off and maybe even more minimal for a possible pocket carry, but I don't mind wearing out the stock one a little bit before that.
The sheath isn't too bad and since they're using a thicker kydex it might take a little longer for it to free up. One trick I Do is take a ceramic surface finish like that one offered by Flitz and rub a little on the inside neck of the sheath then wipe it off dry and it makes a very slick surface easing the tension on the knife
@@OGBladeReviewsthanks excellent tip, I do have some flitz handy and will definitely try that one out. For the thumb push off I might take a lighter to the opening and curl up the edge but I don't wanna risk screwing it up more for now.
Tops has lots of great designs. I need to be reminded of that now and then. The fact that they are American made means a lot to me. Thanks for the vid. Subbed👍🏻
I got the Poker not too long ago and it's a very unassuming blade ! Shaped like the Peninsula of Italy 🇮🇹 without the high heels 👠 it looks like some sort of carpenters or artists craft knife! 1) The ring can be used as a persuasive device to knock some sense into a stubborn subject in ( hammer grip pinkie through the ring ) whom your advising to take a different cause of action 2) In hammer grip you can also use your thumb to pinch someone's finger on top of the blade when your teaching them to sing a high note melodiously according to your liking 🤣🤣 preferably behind or on the ground of your subject! Kubatons are used on fingers in the same manner too! 3) This should have been called The Unzipper (Tops New Knife) because the point is angled downwards unzipping whatever parts of the body your applying pressure on easily !
Commentary and humor always appreciated! Yes, the Poker can be a very good "persuasion" tool, as well as cutter. Well adapted to many defensive tactics. I like the Unzipper, but wish they had done it in 154CM like the Rapid Strike. Also double-edge would give it point up or down use.... 😁🗡️👍
Looked at the thumbnail & thought it said "porker". Musta been thinking of your recent "Pair of Tusks" video. Know it wasn't the focus of your presentation but really liked that Street Beat & liked seeing your current edc. This is a unique little knife by a great company but it's not for me. I know some of my knife brothers will take up my slack. Merry Christmas 🎄to you & your family !
Thanks! Yeah, you scared me and I thought I misspelled "poker!" Well you can just think of the card game and maybe a riverboat gambler - Kenny Rogers? LOL Merry Christmas! 🎄👍🗡️
