Excellent review! Looks like a battle ready knife!

Thanks a bunch! Yeah it's built like a tank. Same blade thickness as the 111A but 4 inches shorter in blade, so it has a way tougher length to thickness ratio. It won't let you down!

I picked this one up about a year ago. It's a little heavy with the factory sheath (loaded down w/ all the extras) so I had some custom kydex done. I've put it through the paces and it has handled the abuse without any problems. It does everything you'll need it to do in regards to both survival and tactical needs. Sharpening it is a little difficult, as replicating the razor sharp factory edge has proven impossible, but getting a good functional edge on it isn't too tough. DO NOT use the Lansky sharpener. Tops offers free factory sharpening at no cost outside of shipping and handling so that's always an option. Excellent blade if you can handle the weight.

Yeah I've tried sharpening some stuff from TOPS before, it's terrible. Mainly because of how obtuse they start their angles out of the factory. I actually enjoy that it comes with extras quite a bit, because they're totally optional to have on the knife, and most of them are very helpful, namely the firesteel and the whistle. Great additions. I suppose you could at least sell the lansky for like $10 or something.

In my opinion this might be the perfect knife. One thing that gets missed is that this knife could be modelled on the roman Gladius the knife that has probably killed more people and things than any other style of knife in human history. I have ordered two of these and they appear to have a good following. Also Ice how do you rate this knife and how is it holding up?

There's certainly the possibility of that design influence, it would be interesting to ask the designer personally (Joseph Teti). This knife is just about as close to indestructible as it gets. The proportionality of it is nearly structurally impermeable and its length is ideal for both survival and tactical. Very few things have faded with time and use; the traction coating does wear down. It gets very smooth before showing any bare steel. The handle scales rarely stay greenish gray as seen in the reviews/pics, it's usually more of a dark grey/black, but you can clean it out. The edge retention is excellent for its intended use, however if you're going solely tactical and no survival use I would recommend a slightly more acute edge angle. Other than that, very good. I'd say 9.6 out of 10.

This looks great! Can I just ask - how is the Victor Kukri holding up? I've been thinking of buying one for a while now and I'd quite like to know how it fares after a long period of usage. Thanks!

The victor held up very well. When it came, the edge was decently sharp, not shaving, but good. It held its edge for about 6 months with consistent use (chopping and splitting large wood - the work of an axe). I resharpened it to a convex zero grind with a belt grinder, and it took a whittling sharp edge. I did notice some blade staining and the beginnings of rust after about 9 months, but note that I wasn't keeping it oiled until then. I bought some blade polish, derusted it, oiled it, and have retired it from hard use for the season. In terms of the handle, there is one very small crack in the wood near the front handle guard, and on one side the wood isn't quite perfectly flush with the tang, but not nothing to write home about. The sheath held up decent. The metal cap fell off almost immediately during use as a pack knife. Also, if you're not careful, the khukuri has started cutting into the leather of the sheath. Other than that, all good, and I'm still very satisfied. I'd highly recommend getting the wooden display stand with the knife, it's an excellent addition while not in use. Thanks for the view/comment/interest in the channel!

Koolkidzao No problem! I hope you enjoy whichever Khukuri you decide to get. Do subscribe if you haven't already - I've got some exciting stuff coming up!

Heavy, unwieldy and clumsy in the hand , it's tip is fragile, and I have never needed to make a knife into a spear. I have never even needed a spear. The saw teeth are only good for making shallow notches. If you want a wall-hanger or just want something 'cool', it's great , after 50 years of camping, I would rather take a Mora Companion.

Only one question. Is it worth it?
@icemanreed
@icemanreed 9 лет назад
That depends on your value system and budget. For me, absolutely, because I use knives like this all the time out in the field and on the mountain, and it really pays off for me. But if you're someone who is in the market for a one-time weekend camp knife or something, then it probably wouldn't be worth it, primarily because you wouldn't be using it to the extremes of its abilities.

icemanreed I'm new at this hole survival Bug Out Bag hobby, but I'm enjoying it so much! I fell in loved with this knife the second I say Joe Tetti promote it. Joe Tetti being my favorite Survivalist. same with Matt Ghram.

Beowolfenstein Nice! Yeah it's a brilliant design. So many of TOPS knives are worth it. Really love this one, and the Steel Eagle series.

ok u just burnt up 20+ minutes on a table top and no one knows what the knife can do. Is it really that hard to take it out and beat the hell out of it that's what it was designed for if u don't have the ability that's a different story
