Gameplay seems fine, except for the fact that the balls are consistently very short. Professional tennis players usually hit the ball into the back third of the court, close to the baseline. Otherwise, graphics are generally weak as many have stated. Maybe the game will get more sophisticated over time with updates? Would love to see more historic greats like Becker, Edberg, Lendl, Wilander, Ashe and so on.
@marchmadness76 they asked but SW declined voice lines, also Sharapova doesn't look near as attractive as she did in her early 20s, especially compared to others in her age range currently
Looks great to me. But I’m not a die hard tennis fan. Enjoying this game *so far… *will need more content to keep it fresh though. Particularly for offline players
I don't own the game, but for what I understand, this game lack the ATP torunaments TieBreak has, and the number of players as well. I guess career mode is limited. Other than that, gameplay is superior here. Graphics, meh, in my opinion they ported the original Top Spin 4 and without making the game from scratch. It's not a next gen tennis game... maybe next year?
Buddy, it does not matter if you play it in 4k or in 720p and you know why? It's because the game itself has outdated graphics. Looks like a game that came out 2010.
I wouldn’t say 2010. We were way ahead of this in 2010. This could pass for Topspin 1 from 2003. I was astonished at how terrible the graphics are. Very disappointing.
Hate to break it to you as a non-tennis fan, but that is NOT in the slightest how Sharapova looks. Gameplay looks good though (Serena too), but why pay to feature Sharapova in-game if her model looks like crap? So as far as "ultra-realistic" goes... Yeah, this is not it.
I have to agree that the player models do look pretty atrocious. In a way, the models looked better on topspin 4 because they’re not so shiny and don’t look like wax figures like in TS5. Some modes look quite good such as Fritz and Steffi Graff, but others seem as though the devs gave up halfway (especially Murray). As for gameplay though, it feels a lot nicer to play than it looks like and it’s very satisfying and rewarding to hit a perfectly timed shot.
Gameplay is fine. But what about the players? OMG, where to start? Sharapova was beatiful in real life, what is this? Her grunt is nothing like this, her forehand, backhand movement doesnt look like this. This is just sooo wrong.
@@TrevorCaruso91 well to be fair I don't think most want a current accurate legend for some cases .... imagine if they did that if they add Rod Laver 😆
The players could have looked better especially with today’s technology. The crowd and players face doesn’t look real enough. The graphics look like it’s still in 1999. Substituting for realistic gameplay is not enough. More like Virtua tennis 2k25
Not even realistic gameplay. Its exactly the same gameplay from topspin 4, with the same ripped off animations. It was just “fine” back in 2011, but for today standard even an indie tennis game would do a better job
They spent too long making sure Serena has a nice arse. I haven’t got the game, at least for now, but based on this doesn’t look worth it. Top Spin 4 was an amazing game so it’s a shame.
character faces are not even close to being realistic, grunts are all wrong, player animations look so unnatural and dumb-fonded after winning a point, ball kids never retrieve any balls, towel just teleports into player's hand and has no physics to it, player movements are unnatural sometimes super slow sometimes super fast, some ball hitting looks weird too. The only two things realistic about this game is the court and ball physics after being hit
Not a single technical improvement over the previous game. Animations are straight ripoffs from topspin 4, plays and feels exactly the same. Just some added shadows and antialiasing, a bunch of new player models and thats it. Absolute disappointment
The graphics look like they're from 2016. THE gameplay is the best I've seen in a tennis game and yet it has huge flaws like the fact that it NEVER plays deep. I'm starting to think that it is impossible to realistically convey tennis in a video game or perhaps that no one wants to invest.
@@MajorTom1186 I might, but Virtua Tennis 4 has better character models, better animations, and overall better picture. And it was released 13 years ago, when you prob wasn't even born yet :D
