Redbreast aren’t invasive in TN. They aren’t on the invasive or banned/prohibited list by twra and I find it hard to believe that they out compete other sunfish, maybe greenies but they disappear in colder months and redear take their place.

So my buddy Ian (the dude I'm fishing with) is a a biologist for the state government (federal technically) and yeah your right about them not being officially classified as INVASIVE..but they are not native to the TN River drainage. This was just a clip from longer discussion we had about it. So I guess the state hasn't made a issue about them cause they haven't deemed damaging other populations like the spots have, but they are a non-native fish. Thanks for the interaction. These are the type of comments I like to see 👍

@@theeverydayangler like several other species, they are possibly considered naturalized. If they were as big of a deal as the banned/prohibited list species, then twra would talk about them as much as Alabama bass or Asian carp.

@@FishingWithChris_Tv I know we both probably know a couple of spots where it seems like that's all you can catch is redbreast, but I also know spots where seems like the rock bass could be cut down a bit just cause there so many. But nature is gonna do it's thing. Like I love spotted bass, and I honestly wouldn't want them gone unless there was some program to re-introduce smallies into all these areas. I'm also fine with just putting musky everywhere lol
