Skull Clamp is also used as a deterrent. Place it on one of your incremental damage creatures that won't die from it, to deter your opponent from destroying it, lest you draw more burn.
That’s another fair point. I also suggested to joe things like Tibalt to stop life gain, make a 3/1 that hits for 3 when it dies, and have a good body to chuck away for cards. Might be a different version of the deck though 🤔
I realize he isn't perfectly, "on theme" for what you are doing with this deck, but I'm at least a little surprised not to see Inferno Titan in your decklist, given how high you have been on him in the past, and how favorably he interacts with Tobran. If you have have 3 targets, he does 9 damage per swing, not even counting actual combat damage! (Combat damage also benefits from Tobran.)
I got a lot of cards for my Syr Carah the Bold deck. Mana Clash is a funny draw spell in that deck. Burning Prophet is card cool card that give you scrying. When the commander out, Risk Factor and Browbeat lets you draw one card or more. I am happy you cover a red commander. Have a nice day guys. Tribe scout out.
I love that Torbran breaks the symmetry of efficient red spells to make classic burn a viable strategy in EDH. How do you guys feel about Urza's Armor to reduce damage from cards like Pyrohemia and Zo-Zu
yea seem not good, also i think tarbran doesnt affect you right? so you are suppose to be ahead on damage vs the opponent. Urzas armor slot might be used for something a lot better.
Imho I wouldn't play Purphoros if you don't expect to have many creatures entering the battlefield. And without token generators or graveyard recursion, it just doesn't cut it. Now, Drakuseth on the other hand ...
With 24 creatures and 2 or 3 token generators? Ok then. I myself would rather put in some stax like Stranglehold, Blood Moon or Citadel of Pain. Or some protection for the easily removed commander like Darksteel Plate. But maybe your meta just doesn't use that much targeted removal, who knows.
I have a pinger torbran deck too, I play humble defector for deecent card draw, good in a pinch/if you have homeward path/are about to wipe the board/if you have skullclamp. goblin chainwhirler nukes opponents and their creatures for 3 when torbran is in play and set ups well with fanatic of mogis, 9 to each opponent at least, fanatic can also be a closer. Finally, solemn simulacrum and burnished hart are great ramp for mono red while mirage mirror is amazing utility for if someone plays some a card.
That card is just nasty. But since most cards in this deck aim to deal damae to players directly and not their creatures, it is less impactful. Still worth considering.
@@godofwar10510 I am aware of that. Dealing upwards of 50 damage takes minimal setup. Also very fun with Furnace of Rath because first it doubles the damage to the creature and then doubles the damage again to the player. So if you blasphemous act, each creature a player controlls equals 52 damage to the face.
I wonder if it's possible to build a Torbran deck with Painter's Servant, and turn artifact damage (like Triskelion) into bolts, and opponents' Ancient Tomb/Pain Land into more bolts on themselves.
Two cards you should consider running are Jaya, Venerated Firemage and Embermaw Hellion. Both of these cards basically do what Torbran does just on less. (they are more Enchantments for this deck really more than creatures tbh.)
I am in the process of building this deck. Is 14 instants and sorceries really enough to power Guttersnipe and Electrostatic field? Goblin Assault is really good
