I have been a Tori Amos fan for over 20 year! As a gay man she has been a large source of strength for me in my own early development. I spent many years of my 20's deconstructing every song, lyric and word she would utter in interviews. I have bought every record, b-side, concert booklets and many bootlegs. I have met her twice and seen her live over 15 times live! She is so gifted and a national treasure and continously giving sage interviews! This interview is great (becasue of her) but WHY WHY OH Why Does EVERY Gay interviewer/Publication have to bring up some gay agenda into their line of questioning (the Advocate taking about the song Flavor and now here). This interviewer trying to relate her new ablum theme/title to Gay marriage and then asking about a lesser known, random, dated, horrible Remix of Professional Widow? This gay anthem ended up on every bad 90's workout/dance cd? That remix was always bad to hear and is not even relevant after it being plucked from the Boys for Pele songbook. Tori is always gracious and classy so don't insult her with this drible...Tori should of sued for that terrible interruptive sonic remix disaster. This interviewer could have asked her ANYTHING yet pulled that card. What a waste of everyone's time! Can someone tell me why he went there?
the professional widow remix is a rare phenomenon: a dance track that achieved great success in both the commercial pop scene AND the underground club scene. To this day it has stood the test of time as a great dance track. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, but as a tori amos fan myself, it fills me with pride that this artist who doesn't create dance music, managed to put out one of the most iconic club tracks of all time.
great interview except he should have known that the remix for "flavor" off of gold dust reached #1 on the billboard dance chart in '12 shortly before the remixer died. i'm surprised tori didn't mention it.
Joan WAS primed to take over for Johnny Carson, but she was offered her own show from another production company and she took that instead, which destroyed her relationship with Carson. Just sayin'...
