Tori's "You're not ruining my life" is so powerful. It hit me like a punch. The few times I dared admit to anyone that i felt like I was ruining everybody's lives, they always just said "I'm sure you're wrong" (which is well meaning but really just focuses on telling you you're doing another wrong thing - it aims to invalidate). Tori's line is positive and affirming. Really made me think about what to say when a friend or loved one is having a hard time.
Jenny’s (Tori’s actor) acting in that scene is immaculate. You can see a really brief, really subtle change in her facial expressions after Charlie said it would’ve been better if he hadn’t existed. Though a minor detail it makes the story so… alive and real.
@@cupcakepj4333 Yes! Her expression ever so slightly changes just before the hug, as if she's hurting seeing Charlie say something that reveals so much pain of his own
I know it’s really hard to know exactly what to say. Most people don’t understand appropriate social responses. I do also wish I could feel how much others try for me. I’m really glad we have a show that can be an exemplar.
@@timefliesaway999 thats obviously lighthearted though and nothing is hurtful so id say nah:) even if you counted that its the most healthy bond ive seen
I absolutely love Tori and her oversized shirts and little drinks. Absolutely adorable, but also amazing screen presence. She says one line and makes you think about it forever. I hope she gets more screen time when they do season 2. Her presence is calming and reassuring and we need some of that in our life.
Will they even do a Season 2? I bloody hope so. I’ve been wanting a MacBook laptop for a while and I’m hoping to get one for my birthday, but I’d rather get season 2 of Heartstopper’s because I bloody love this show!
@@GeGeAiNi I hope you enjoy it! I don’t really celebrate my birthday (I choose not to for reasons), but I’m always appreciate of gifts so that’s why I’ve said that : ) But thank you!
i wished they filmed that " i fell for a straight boy scene" from the book. I'll probably bawl my eyes if they did :(. but i really really love this show. can't wait for season 2
@@juliusalvinbalba3470 Thank you so much for the info. I was finished reading it (even the new chapter update of today too) but couldn't find it back so I really appreciate it
The Tori character is AMAZING!!!! I’m not convinced she dose not hold some extreme super natural ability. And the drinks? What’s up with the drinks? LOL!
alice oseman wrote a book where she's the main character (solitaire) and she's constantly drinking diet lemonade and it's the only thing she drinks lmao
@@kitmae6187 yeah like one third of the book is just Tori getting out of her room to go get more diet lemonade and complaining when there's none at the parties
Su*cide two Lol as a sibling who has trouble with self hatred and is made of styrofoam, I'm pretty sure my siblings wouldn't give a single fuck if I killed myself lmao (tbh nobody would :/)
Tori is a kind of sister who doesn’t bother you while your doing your own things but she’ll keep her eyes on you in case you need her help. Best sister ever 😎
how quickly Tori goes "called it" after Charlie tells her about nick is so cute like she's so happy her brother found someone he really likes who likes him back and treats him well
the scene between charlie and tori where tori tells him that hes not ruining HER life means so much to me, especially as an older sister myself. we all know how much charlie means to tori, so to have a scene like that show how close they are and how much tori loves her brother is wonderful!
as a younger brother, Tori is right about the older sister magic. I be playing secretively (i was grounded from playing video games) and somehow she just appears out of nowhere and interrogated me if i was playing games 😭 it’s scary. but yea, I love their relationship so much! it’s so healthy and non toxic like most tv shows
I love charlie and toris brother and sister realationship, and the fact that she stands up for charlie and cares for him so much, its so sweet and i find it funny that shes always drinking some sort of beverage with a straw and has that ghost like appreance and personality, like she looks like someone from the ring but not in a scary way in a way that makes her look just badass.
I would have been totally okay if we never saw her walking around. Like she just materializes out of thin air and then she just disappears lol Love how caring and supportive she is despite looking so apathetic. She is so great, I would love to see her interacting with Nick if we get more seasons.
@3:00 pretty sure this is an anxiety thing (or *book spoilers* an OCD compulsion), since he continues quietly tapping throughout the scene… the little details they put in this scene in particular are really heartbreaking if you know what’s coming. Alice, the directors, and Joe really put in the work when it came to the subtleties of Charlie’s mental health this season 🥺
I just realized this 2:42 this is a double whammy. Clearly stating that she doubts he is a friend, and asserting that he is nice after episode 1 where Charlie said he wanted a nice guy.
after reading solitare 3:15 brokes my heart even more. slight spoiler: tori feels like its her fault because she noticed charlie was changing yet she never spoke up about it, she never told her parents and she just sat there and let it happen so she states. and its so heart breaking.
does anyone know any other tv show/movie character that is similar to Tori cuz I've never read the Heartstopper graphic novels but when Tori showed up she felt really familiar
*enters with older sister magic* “ morning” “JESUS TORI” “why is your face like that?” “I broke up with my boyfriend” “Was he a KnOb” “…yes” “Well done then”
Tori is one of the only characters I can really relate to, I’m one of the older siblings in my family, even though my sisters can get on my nerves they are the only two people that have unconditionally loved me just the way I am, and even though we do fight sometimes, I’d risk my life so that they could be happy, because they are worth every tear and they are worth every hardship. So seeing the relationship that Tori has with Charlie makes me really happy, because usually in most shows and movies older siblings are represented as the Evil stereotypical Bullies and they ruin the younger siblings lives and Blah Blah Blah. So I’m kinda glad that Tori isn’t represented like that in the books or in this series :)).
1:52 there is pink, purple, and blue light reflection on the doorframe, could it be because Nick is coming over and Nick is bi? Coincidence, I THINK NOT 🏳️🌈🩷💜💙
ALL I WANTED IS FOR HER TO HAVE MORE SCREEN TIME BECAUSE SHE’S AMAZING! (Sorry if the capitals intimidated you, I just wanted to emphasise the awesomeness of this person)
She is awesome.. yea..I wish she had more screen time too. But all the ones we have are unforgettable ones. She just makes her presence known, just like that.
@@GeGeAiNi So I’m guessing she has more than one super power then? Not only being able to tell what’s wrong with Charlie, but also being unforgettable : )
I relate to Tori so much!!!! It's actually scary, im almost exactly like her. Older sister magic, depressed gay younger brother who's angry a lot and always has a crush and apparently always needs advice 😭
Can we just... have a Solitaire Netflix adaptation? No trailers, no release date, just... have it appear in my recommended out of nowhere, please thank you???
I really hope we get more Tori scenes in season 2, because Tori does some really stanable things in the novels that deserve to be immortalised in television history I also hope for an Olly appearance at somepoint , though I understand why that may not be possible
Haha that worked out well... *cut to charlie ending up in a mental hospital diagnosed with depression, anorexia, and ocd* jk jk i know what you mean tho
I love their relationship but I feel like if oliver is missing, they're not the same. And of course, it is not. Here Tori only has to deal with one chaotic little brother but the dynamic of the three spring sibling feels better to me. I still love the live action thought :) (I mean no harm and I do not want to be mean to the productor or the actors. They made just great)
