Koffy PR I think they usually have to form during the late day in order to survive for only a few minutes. I think they cant form at night due to dropping of the air because of the sun not being apparent and giving off heat
You're very brave. Those things are scary enough in the daytime when you can see them. It must be terrifying to only get a glimpse of it when lightning strikes.
Wouldn't be surprised if every storm chaser in these storms were terrified of it. One moment you could be at a safe distance. Next thing you know it's only 1/2 a mile Infront of you
The thrill of night chasing! I saw something similar in the late 90's SW of fort worth texas! We didn't realize we were so close until it was lit up by lightning. Holy crap that was a freaky night! Great video Hank!
I would hate to have been in that mess! I know sometimes when we get freak storms out here I'm up listening to them. Sometimes I'm surprised we don't hide in our basement because the wind sounds awful, but never like a freight train. I've only ever heard that sound once and a tornado wasn't even nearby or said to be touching down. Gorgeous video! This was one cool looking tornado!

Wow! It scared me a little when you said it was time to back up, because I thought this tornado had somehow moved on top of you! This is the bad thing about tornadoes at night---You can only see them when lightening illuminates them!! Great capture of the monster wedge! It looked like there were no houses or structures close by; so, hopefully, no one was impacted by it. I didn't even notice what state this was in; but, if I lived in Oklahoma, and lived in a home, that didn't have a basement, I'd have to have a storm shelter put in, or else, I'd never get a minute's peace lol! Very good video, Hank, as usual; but, too short!!!! LOL Just went back through some of your older video's, and watched "SparkleNado" again. Killed myself laughing😂! Lolita Grant Hey Lolita. I was backing up because the tornado had rain-wrapped and another possible tornado or satellite could have formed... and I brought some precious cargo with me this time. I didnt see any structures get hit... but it was dark, and rainy, and foggy.
I went down to chase that very tornado, but one thing confuses me about the 2015 season, they say that less than 3% of tornado warnings are PDS, how come there have been over 15 PDS tornado warnings and one tornado emergency already this year? And most of them occurred in April and May.

Any tornado is scary.but one at night.omg.scary.we just had our anniversary on the 16th.of this month.here in tennessee where i live.3of them nasty boogers came thru nashville.all at once.by the time the last one came thru madison.a small suburb of nashville.it was still rotating.scary.i hate tornados.
|The story of when i literally shit my pants| It was a good decent temperature day when the tornado sirens went off me and my dad went outside just to see if the skys where looking like a tornado storm, nothing we waited for the sirens to go off again and listening to the radio alerts all the way until night, they went off and the radio went crazy so we decided to go into the storm shelter, as we where walking though the yard i was looking around when i saw a faint shadow, i was thinking its just my imagination, and then lighting stuck and it reveled and HUGE ass tornado (probably was like a ef3 but still when its that close it looks big) i literally shit my pants while i was carrying my dog and i had to hobble into the storm shelter xDD everybody made it out fine
erverety you should've seen that tornado that hit Dallas, Texas the day after Christmas! It was an EF4 and it happened at nighttime and the only way everyone could see it was by lightning or power flashes
honestly your an amazing storm chaser!You deserve alot!but do you realize how dangerous tornado's are!one of these days your seriously gonna have an injury or maybe even the angel if death will come to you and touch you...Ouch
