Welcome to another review by Greg’s Mowing.
This video I go through my thoughts on my 3 year old Toro Commercial Proline 21” 4 wheel mower.
Powered by a Kawasaki engine.
Driven by a 3 speed gearbox.
It’s designed firstly as a mulching mower then can be adapted to collect. Does it collect well?

One of the best baggers out there with hi lift blades. The bags do need occasional washing to keep the airflow up

My Toro 21 inch commercial bags wet grass like a charm. You can get bagging blades that are high lift for it. Having the proper blades for the mower make a big difference. I must say mine even bags thick tall grass with the regular mulching blades super well in addition to mulching excellent. Keep those blades sharp. This mower ribs! I have one with a Kawasaki engine and a Honda engine. I like the one with the Kawasaki engine best because it is quite a bit lighter. I keep the one with a Honda engine as a back up and to mow my own lawn, I think that mower will last 20 years! The Honda engine has A tiny bit more power I think. However it is quite a bit louder. I just wished Tora would make a 30 inch walk behind mower that is not so heavy and has plenty of power. That would be a happy day for me! Peace out!

Hi. Thanks for this. I try and do reviews based on the mower from factory. I do use high lift blades on some of my mowers. Yet to find the best one for the proline. Got any links for your favourite blade please? We don’t have the Honda variant in the U.K. normally I’m cutting on the lowest notch in the front wheels and second lowest notch on the rear wheels. The timemaster is a powerful light ish mower. That collects quite well in dry and damp conditions. Thanks for commenting 👍🏻

The Honda 160cc engine definitely has less power then the fj180v kawasaki. On paper and in real world use. If you are experiencing the opposite then your kawasaki is not running well.

Honda has more power than the Kawasaki? Are you sure you have used both because it’s not even an argument. The Kawasaki is definitely more powerful than the Honda.

@@craigrogers3163 i have 2 toro 21 inch walk behind mowers, one of them has a Honda engine, and the other one has a Kawasaki engine.

@@craigrogers3163 yeah. The Kawasaki is best. It cuts better. Probably your right it has more power. I have two mowers.. both of them are Toros Juan has the Kawasaki engine and the other a Honda engine 🙂‍↕️

That mower is one of the best out there. He just needs to change the blade for the conditions he's mowing in smh. Toro 22398 is literally the best push mower I've ever used.

hi greg can I just ask… what mower would you most recommend for soft, tall wet grass? really struggling with what one to buy, I want to get a really good one so don’t mind paying £1000+

Hi Curtis. How tall? If it’s silly tall then use a strimmer then mow it. Soft ground the Toro is ideal thanks to its wide rounded wheels. Other manufacturers have hard rough wheels which cause ruts. I use the Toro with high lift blade and high revs and clean bag and it will go through a lot. Hope that helps.

Depends on your needs. Collection the etesia 51 is best. Then Stihl 756. But both of them are heavy and can cause ruts on soft lawns…

While it's not commercial grade, the Honda HRX217 has proven itself in the field as being a very reliable mower that leaves a stellar cut. To me, its GCV200 engine is superior to the Kawasaki FJ180. However, right now finding a new one is proving to be difficult.

Find a John Deere 14SB/JX75 in great condition and you'll never want something else...lighter than the Toro / Exmark...better cut with Blade Clutch, aluminum deck, self pro...hard to find...I have Exmark 21" Commercial and a Toro Proline...as well as 3 JD's... getting rid of the red units also...I agree with Greg...the cut isn't as good as it should be for the $

U can buy a catering blade. Big difference to the one u get when you buy it.

@@nijasan5630 hi. Yes sorry it's suppose to be a catching blade. A high lift blade is whst you can buy . Its better if you have wet or long grass to bag

Enjoy. Didn’t know there was a high lift blade to be honest. The Stihl is phenomenal esp at bagging.

After that performance today I'm tempted to send the toro back and get the stihl , did you up the revs on your toro?

Well that lasted long , the toro has gone back to the dealers , poor cut , terrible bagging, poor power ... Time to order the stihl 7 series

They’ve always been reasonably priced compared to others in similar sectors. Yes toros as others have had big price increases since covid kicked off and war in Ukraine due to increase costs in steel. Shipping containers. It’s everything not just Toro. Bare that in mind.
