Hello and welcome to my channel. Just a gardener from south east England. Showing my work and review of stuff that might be of interest. Also some odd videos. Enjoy!
I've got one Used it for 7 days then bang Ruined pulley belts everywhere Took over a month to get back from warranty work Used it this morning due first time after repair Smoke and smell of shredding belts Going back for refund DON'T BOTHER DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I have a Pro51X, I've had it over 10 years, and I bought it new. Mine has a Kawasaki engine. It's never broken down, never failed to start. It's an animal. It collects in hideous rain. And it outperforms my twin blade Honda Pro. It is heavy and expensive, but will I buy another? Yes, without question.
I have been told that the battery needs changing every 4 years and it costs £10-15k. I live in London. I work in London. I do 2020 - 250 miles a week. Because of where I live, I can't charge it at home, so I have to rely on public fast charging points. The cheapest van I have found today is £12k including vat. MOT due Nov 2024. Considering all of the above issues, is it worth buying a second-hand one?
@@GregsMowing I’m a gardener down in Dorset my mower day in day out is a 2022 hayter harrier 48 pro which is a great mower but the engine is definitely underpowered If I had to upgrade to a 22 inch mower would you recommend the toro pro stripe is the one to get over the hayter 56 pro and the honder hrh 536 pro roller?
Whoever designed this machine needs to go back to school. A lack of attention to detail with small faults occurring regularly and weak components failing after less than a year. Expensive machine been back to be fixed three times, at cost.
Interesting comment. The fact you had to pay for any repair within its first year would suggest damage caused by your use and not wear and tear. What was changed? These are designed to be maintained. Not left alone and destroy everything slowly. These are the easiest pro mowers to work on with most cost effective parts too. I will agree they are expensive considering the engine choices.
Hi , would you recommend for weekly cuts on well maintained lawns ? I have two weibangs but very heavy . I was also thinking of the 41 pro ? Drew in south Belfast .
Greg, I really need your advice. My old 48cm wide mower is falling apart; I'd prefer one size larger (53cm) for my home lawn; ready to spend for a professional high quality machine. The problem is that my lawn is based on fescue grass with very fine leaves which my current mower has problem collecting. What mower would you recommend (I don't want stripping); Toro Proline is probably made for coarser lawns, Stihl 655VS is not worth its price, Stiga with a Honda engine or Honda HRD536 ?
Hi. Not sure on various grass types. Honda hrh is a solid unit. As is Weibang virtue 53. How they perform on fine leaves I don’t know. Where are you based?
@@GregsMowing , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karst_Plateau ; and I've made a typo: fescue with fine leaves - ornamental :D ; I need a machine with a fine cut and very good collecting. Honda HRH is maybe too massive for home use; I've been looking at Honda HRD536HXE; Stiga twinclip 955B with Honda engine, Toro HD Proline 22285. But maybe there is a better option. 😁
Great Video..👍🏼 This challenge was 4yrs ago..? STHL is available for sale in 🇺🇸 spring 2024..🤔 Honda bowed out of gas lawn mowers in 🇺🇸 EPA / Gov regulations..😢 Curious how is STHL holding up after 3yrs of use..?
Thanks. I don’t use it now. Prefer the Toro proline. However I did service the Stihl the other month. Got the Kawasaki engine. I think USA using kohler? Don’t know how good they are. They are built well and the Stihl and Toro 3 speed drives are same gearbox.
Hi Greg know anywhere I can buy one of these had nothing but problems with drive this season on another brand 😂 think it's time for a change I'm just outside Surrey area cheers
Hi Tom, what brand you had issues with? The rollers are same as Hayter and are designed to be maintained. Not left for a year after ruse in the rain etc. Will need rebuild. Ask your Hayter dealer if they can get one in. Or else a Toro dealer. Bit complicated for some reason. If you’re not far from Surrey give MPS Garden Machinery a call. In effingham near J9 on m25. I do bits for them so always gonna give them sales.
I'm having problems with Honda mowers just rollers and gear boxes second year they are on bit disappointing can the dealer you have contact with get them cheers
@@GregsMowing doesn't hurt to do something different especially as age creeps in. I'd love to do the job till the day I die but my bodies saying no to that already.
Thanks for that Greg I think my mind's made up now Toro it is. Are there any issues with the pro stripe I should be aware of. Great videos by the way take care
I've just been to look at one of these that's just arrived at my local dealer. Looks a lot of mower for the money. Lots heavier than my Toro Timemaster. 4L fuel tank and a powerful engine. To buy or not to buy? Brand new to the market. Trouble is the Toro just isn't up to the commercial work I'm giving it (and not powerful enough)
Well the Timemaster is a domestic spec mower. The turfmaster is built for commercial work. That said the Timemaster as of now has a lot more power than the turfmaster. Baffling I know. All Weibang stuff is designed for pro use. Lot bigger engine as you say. And they don’t seem to give up on development so if there is an issue you can bet they’ll sort it out asap. Yes it’s new so maybe wait a few months. And let any issues be ironed out. From the brief videos on the machine it does look very good. Time will tell.
Hi Jeff. Can’t remember to be honest. But normally I don’t. Sometimes fuel can dribble out of the cap. If so you just need a container to catch it. Wouldn’t worry about the oil. I’ve seen mowers tilted up like this for a day and night. No issues. Hope that helps.
Hi Greg 4 years on do you still recommend Toro over the hayter I am thinking of changing my stock of 5 hayter 56 getting fed up of changing belts now they are 5 years old are you having problems with Toro prostripe cheers
Hi. I haven’t used mine in a while due to work situation. If I could I’d use it more. I still don’t rate the 56 pro as highly. The Briggs is cheap and drive is slow to move. And red paint is just better! Don’t know if I ever changed drive belt or not to be honest. I know I’ve done drive cable and the drive internals once or twice. Two year warranty though. Also the gearboxes on the toros are lot better. Last lot longer. 3 speed. But do cost a fair bit more. Also the blade isn’t as high lift as the Hayter due to the Kawasaki being noisy. Allegedly. However you can change the blade yourself to one that works for you. But keep it quiet. 🥳
Sort of is. Toro have owned Hayter since 2005 and this variant is aimed at sports clubs with the Kawasaki engine. Match cut technology and 3 speed gearbox, but obviously can be used by anyone
hi greg can I just ask… what mower would you most recommend for soft, tall wet grass? really struggling with what one to buy, I want to get a really good one so don’t mind paying £1000+
Hi Curtis. How tall? If it’s silly tall then use a strimmer then mow it. Soft ground the Toro is ideal thanks to its wide rounded wheels. Other manufacturers have hard rough wheels which cause ruts. I use the Toro with high lift blade and high revs and clean bag and it will go through a lot. Hope that helps.
@@GregsMowingthanks greg, think i’m going to take the plunge & get a toro 💪🏼 do I have to get them features you mentioned altered once it arrives? especially with the high blade lift as I always see that mentioned on posts
@@GregsMowing I have the transit custom . Looking to get this size one in a couple of years . Don’t suppose you know what spec it is ? I.e H1 L1 etc ??
Was h3 l2. Was under 500 a month. In a few years time who knows what the pricing might be. Probably higher due to pointless tech that’s not needed in a van
What’s going to happen to these vans when the battery can only do 10 miles? Can you add additional battery’s or upgrade the battery? Looking for a new van, but this has put me off electric big time ☹️
Best thing is to get one. Remove the battery rubbish and put diesel engine in it and gearbox 😂. They are still early days and basically fancy prototypes. The next battery transporter will be a badged transit custom so maybe better range etc from there. But how it lasts long term is very unknown and I wouldn’t invest personally.
It just looks very cheap and flimsy but if you haven’t had issues that’s the main thing. I can see water sitting in the top attachment too which over time will probably rust it out.
Hi Greg great video s,would you say this is best mower just for cut and drop for wet thick grass, have a couple of large area s and the hrx struggles and fails, unless really dry ,would you say better than the stihl 7 series. Many thanks Ian.
Ian yes the etesia is great esp at cut and collect and cut and drop. It’s a serious pro machine. Flawed in the handles and wheels for me though. The hrx only good thing is its weight. Nice and light. Rest of it I’m not too keen on after running two of them and they seem to get cheaper build quality.
