Yeah, I have the exact same leaf blower as part of my inventory. Its a great little machine but it does bog down quite a bit. It seems to take a while to get it going when you first start it up, but then smooths out. I thought maybe it needed a good carburetor cleaning. Changing the plug also helped. Great video, bro.
Dude should read the starting directions....Toro's always do that if you don't follow the exact starting sequence....it's printed right on there ...try reading it....
Have one of these left behind by a prior homeowner presumably inoperable. Changed fuel with fresh non-ethanol and 40:1 mix which I had just made up for some other equipment. This product specs 50:1, and it does seem to run quite lean. Like many others it seriously bogs on throttle when the choke is off, so I have to find the sweet spot with the choke lever to get it to run half decent. Has the orig Chumpian plug, so for shitz n' giggles I'll change that out and adjust the fuel ratio. Good to know this is a common issue with the carb. I know you can remove the plastic plugs to adjust it, but that sounds like a P.I.T.A . I'll try the easy stuff first
I found your review most informative particularly the carb section. I have the same 51984 and experience the bog but it seems a bit more than yours. I considered taking off the carb and blowing out the lines, I thought there may be a clogged line or? I usually have to run it almost full choke. My unit has only about 20 hours, I use it only for the vac/mulch feature. You mentioned that you changed to an NGK plug, maybe I’ll try that first and go from there. Tim
In my experience Bosch spark plugs give the most power in small engines. They tend to start a bit harder with the Bosch, for me the uptick in power is well worth the price of admission. In my experience NGK tends to make for easy starting with a little more power then champion. NGK is my 2nd choice, they tend to be easier to get.
How do you rate this leaf blower compared to the handheld echo blowers? I'm looking to get a handheld as a backup and for small yards. BTW your technical expertise is spot on, you should do more in detailed videos/reviews.
+Ousama Abdu I now own an echo leaf blower and I gotta say, it is so much better. they use a different carburetor on the echo and it makes all the difference.
I have an older model, and it has the key chuck feature, to start it without pulling the cord. I want to sell it, but I don't remember how much it was new. its very heavy, and I couldn't carry it, (im a 72 yr old grandma), so I gave it to my son, he gave it back. Now I want to sell it. Any suggestion? Barely used, been in our warehouse for a long time.
the durability period is how long the machine has to stay with in the epa emission standards professional equipment is used alot more therefore has to stay efficient to 300 hours instead of a home owners equipment wich is only 50 and is not used much
cool yay it has a trusty engine in it crazyjdkid thought a toro trimmer had a ryobi engine in it but no it has an echo related engine but how did you learn that the toro had an echo related engine in it or whatever? btw great video
