Just had to change the drive belt on my Toro sw5000 and so I watched a bunch of these video's. One tip I never saw mentioned is when you're finished with the drive belt, and you reattach the spring for the tensioner on the mower deck, ALWAYS check that deck belt afterwards!! The reason is sometimes when you remove tension from the mower deck belt, the belt can drop off of the first pulley (on the deck) that is closest to the motor. If the belt drops off and you engage the blades, it can destroy the deck belt very quickly. Otherwise, great video!
Thanks very much, great job describing what happens with this. Getting ready to do mine. Oh, you may want to buy yourself a brake spring puller. Cheap, about $5-6, and very easy to pull most springs on. And great video and audio as well.
I think I may have a broken drive belt on my ss5000 so this is rxactly what I eas looking for. Thanks so much for posting! FYI The pan head threaded bolt with the square shank right under the head is commonly known as a "Carriage bolt" if you ever need to find one.
My Toro 4225 Drive belt ate up about 50% of the hydraulic fan on the left side as you're sitting on the mower. Have I got to pull the hydraulic unit off to put another fan on? Wondering if I can just replace the belt and schlep through the rest of this season, even if it runs a little hot.
Hmmmm just got brand new toro this year . But the drive belt it broke. So I'm not sure if it was my fault or what, and I'm happened but I'm so mad. . What brand is the best on zero turn? Can u answer that to me?
If you get a Toro I recommend at least a Toro Max or Titan. As far as which is the best zero turn, the simple answer is Scag. However they are a little on the high end price wise so I like to compare them based on price. Areins/ Gravely are also really good. Low end prices Bad Boy and the new Cub Cadet are pretty good
