An on track tutorial of one of the most popular and accessible tracks in the region with my track notes for reference. Toronto Motorsports Park Cayuga. TMP.
Excellent tutorial - I studied it all winter and it helped tremendously. Yesterday, I signed up for my first Cayuga lapping day and got lucky with a 1:19:58. I also got lucky in that I was the only car there for the first 5 hours.
I've put the TMP tutorial back up because I've gotten a lot of requests for it. I have thought of some improvements I can make to this that I haven't included. But maybe after this year I will make a version 2.
Awesome video, thanks. More like this please. With focus on helping navigate tracks in ontario. Also, techniques and tips would be great. Lot of us would benefit from this kind of information from experienced drivers.
I'd rather bring my best and my competitors bring their best! Besides. There is a difference between knowing what to do, and executing it on your only optimum time attack lap. The people that can beat us either already know this, or have much faster cars, or both. I think at our level, this attitude will make me a better driver/ competitor.
Just ran this track yesterday for the first time. I know I coulda done better but definitely noticed the limitations of the street tires I’m using for the s3.
Great tutorial and great video! I noticed a few spots where I've got my line all wrong. Turn 11 is my achilles heel. I take it too wide. Gonna try your line. The Z is looking good with the APR aero btw. See you at CSCS next year. You are gonna hard to beat.
Hey, the guy in another video (1m20s, search for: CSCS Round 3 2014 at TMP Lap Record) seems to be taking the last turn in a completely different way. Any reason as to why he would choose such a line?
Just curious, I’m planning moving there and I have a hardtop NC Miata, bone stock. Do I still need to install a roll bar in order to be able to drive on this track. Can’t find any materials on any websites as reference about this so far.
ONE THIRD MAYO I think it’s recommended but not required for open lapping days. I’m not an authority though. But I’ve definitely seen NC miatas driving around with no roll bar in the past?
OH I don't know. My car is still going to be "straight line" slow. But I'll put up the best fight I can. People keep saying I need to delete this video. haha.
I'm trying to arrange a group of friends, and some fellow Kia Stinger guys to get out there. What are the rules with our own cars ? No helmets required from what I see ? everyone runs separate ? I assume, otherwise we'd all crash each other, as amatuers or do folks run together like a real race ? 1/4 and track can be done in one day ? or different events ? What's the pricing for these ? Is there a course you must take first ? etc.. I'm on their site to get info, but I suspect someone with experience like you, can easily give us better insight here ?
RPM Auto Reviews zero rules. It’s the Wild West of car lapping there. No helmets required as of my last visit. But why wouldn’t you want one? You find your own space on track and signal faster cars by. You can do both tracks but have to pay for both. Pricing depends on the popularity of the time you go. There aren’t any preparatory classes there. Honestly, if you go as a first timer consider learning as much as possible in advance. Consider hiring a coach for the group. Don’t wreck your cars. People destroy their street cars on the track there a few times every year because they are over zealous beyond their actual skills.
@@2THPWR interesting.. That scares the shit out of me... wild west.. so some moron can crash into you ? I'd think they'd start everyone 30 seconds to 1 min. apart so everyone is safe on their own to test their skills with no one else to bump into... This is kinda of, well not well advised. as you said, cause it's our every day car (many of us)... even if only go with friends, accident can happen... maybe it's better to organize it with bunch of friends to keep cost down, and have our own rules to let everyong take turns and time the runs for who's get best run, etc.. I assume most people will be careful, cause they don't want to crash their car either, but just too risky.. I assume our insurance wouldn't cover any damage.
Danny Li It depends on your car. The sweeping left T10 is the fastest corner on the track by a long shot. Even faster than T1 and T2. Heavy braking is required for the short entry into the final corner. The average casual driver throws away a TON of time here.
