Ive lived in canada my whole life and it makes me happy seeing someone immigrate to the country and appreciate it more than most domestic people. Thanks for the video.

It's hard for the "domestics" to appreciate it when the average apartment in Canada is two grand per month, and everything else you need in life is so expensive.. and you have to pay for all of it with a paycheque that has confiscatory rates of taxes that drastically reduce your earnings every pay cycle. Obviously, not everybody is affected to the same degree, and this applies to both domestics and to newcomers to Canada. But to those who are affected, many are struggling to get by in Canada and don't see how they will ever get a chance to get ahead in life. Home ownership for example.. So please take that into consideration before you portray "most domestic people" as being ungrateful or unappreciative for the benefits of living in Canada. Many people are hurting right now because of how broken our country has become compared to before.

As a french I love a lot of things in Toronto but the public transportation are so bad to french standards. This is the only issue I have with Toronto

Excellent video. I wish the various transit systems would put together a similar video explaining how to use them and how to connect with other transit systems. Although she did mention that from Markham to downtown by GO Transit takes about 45 minutes, it’s worth emphasizing that it is not practical to take the GO downtown if you live in Markham due to the lack of parking spaces at the GO stations.

I really like the TTC. There are tons of bike lanes in Toronto too!😊 The Go Train system really needs to be expanded to hundred of stops throughout Ontario.

This is a really well assembled video. Great content. So helpful. I was born and raised in the GTA and this was a helpful update on all of the options and connectivity.

Bike share is $99 a year, unlimited 30 minute rides. Good "last mile" solution. TTC bus routes within their "10 minute" network generally are every 10-15 minutes. Ontario Northland has buses depart from Union/Yorkdale to North Bay and beyond.

As a baby boomer, I suggest you read up on the history of the TTC. It was one of North America’s best transit systems and except for one tragic incident in 1975, it was one of the safest till around the 1990s.

@LivinginCanada I'm so happy that you are doing videos about public transit and the TTC again. I even love Metrolinx's one fare program which finally at long last after 30 years we now have true fare integration in the Greater Toronto Area which means saving a lot of money and much faster boarding times too. I do prefer the Go Transit buses and their 40 and 94 Routes. 🙂👍

Just one information about putting your bike at front of the bus, if your bike has fat tires it will not going to fit on the bus rack. I tried :)

I feel as if the comparison between pre 2017 (before the pilot project) and 2021 could be due to the retirement of the older, faster streetcars in 2019. on average, they would be around 5 minutes faster than the modern ones.

Toronto's Transit System is much better than the public transportation in Cairo, Egypt. Yes, it is affordable and connected.However; it isn't punctual.Additionally, it has become less safe.

I wonder if Toronto quality of life/Expenses are worth and not as expensive as the big american cities? I wonder how worth is to live in the GTA area since everytime I google it CANADIANS ARE PISSED they all hate the area and say its worse than NY or LA. I wonder if thats true or canadians/gta are just silly? Edit: for a single person specifically

Overall, it is actually pretty expensive and so much more heavily driven by the high cost of housing (renting or buying). The higher cost of daily consumable (like food) is also higher than before, far outpacing inflation... But that's across the country. For Toronto/GTA specifically housing cost is the biggest issue on affordability. There's some relatively cheaper rentals in old buildings, but you've got to wait in really really long wait lists to get in. Unless you have a referral from someone already living there, you are unlikely to get into those cheaper rentals.

A question about the TTC modes (buses, subway, streetcar) - I'm not sure what the transfer window of 2 hours signifies. Does it mean that I can get a $3.5 ticket and use any combination of bus, street and subway for the next two hours?
@lininrabbit
@lininrabbit 5 месяцев назад
Yes you can.
@zeighy
@zeighy 3 месяца назад
Correct. as long as it's the TTC, you can use any of them in any combination within the 2 hour window, and in any direction.

Is there another option than using the Presto card? Do they have an app or something similar? I'll stay in Toronto for just a couple of days. Don't know how simple it is to get such a card?

Hi, I have a question about the tap in and out for go train. I tapped in and out normally to my destination, on my return home I forget to tap in but tapped out at the end of my destination but it charged me double than when I had first tapped in, does that mean by missing “ tap in” got recalculated for? What do I do in this case, I don’t want to be in trouble or have to pay extra if possible.
@zeighy
@zeighy 3 месяца назад
You must always tap in, and tap out. If you forgot to Tap In, you might as well not tap out. GO Train charges by "distance" of travel, so they need to know where you started and ended your train ride. If you forget to tap out, they charge you the whole line from end to end regardless of where you started or got off. You got charged "double" because it did not detect a tap out. It assumed your tap out was a tap in since it was your first tap for that period... So, after a few hours and it did not detect a tap another tap to tap out, they charge you the cost of running the whole line from end to end.
