Driving the all-electric VinFast VF8 Plus SUV from the VinFast showroom at Yorkdale Mall to Montréal, Quebec.

I think the Chevy Bolt has become the litmus for all EVs. If you can't beat a Chevy Bolt in range then forget about it. For a car that weighs more than a Tesla Model X Plaid, Im expecting way more range. That trip in the summer should be one shot, with 5% battery on arrival. Big fan of Vinfast, their VF Wild truck to be specific. So Im rooting for them.

so....this video shows that the infrastructure is not properly set up to accommodate an increase in EV vehicles for long range travel....it'll be years if not a decade for this to happen

Did you have to make two stops to get to Montreal? One at about an hour and the other 30 minutes? The range indicated when you started was 430 km. At your first stop 255km later it showed 118 km range left. So it burns more along way because I you used air conditioner plus seat vents along the way. This was also during a nice warm summer day, perfect for battery performance. When the calculations are being made when you start the trip the computer assumes least battery drain along the way. It should perhaps assume that if it's hot day or very cold that you will need to use those features and take into account when planning. Maybe it should have those options to choose upfront as well? Good video.

Thanks for posting. People, in other reviews, were saying that the infotainment system was laggy, it seems pretty responsive to me, I think there was a firmware update as well since then. -I would have liked to know how was the quality ride (espacially for a long ride)? -In no reviews people talk about the audio system, how is it? -People were also talking about the below average epa, but some said since the OTA, it's been better than announced, what's your thoughts on it, were you close to the 430 km predicted at the beginning of the trip?

I've owned my gorgeous Deep Ocean Green VF8 Eco for just over 2 weeks now. The infotainment screen performs about the same as you might expect from (say) an android tablet - when you first open an app, there MAY be a second or so of splash-screen whilst it loads, but never anything to worry about. The only screen that does noticeably lag is the silly "3D" 360-cam view... But that's a bit of a gimmick anyway. The normal cam views, Fore/Aft/Left/Right are absolutely fine, responsive, crisp, clear, even in dim light. Even the pseudo "top / drone view", no problem at all (and super useful for parking perfectly in spaces). Ride has been find on every Canadian road I've tried mine on. Smoooooooth. See vids elsewhere, where an aerospace engineering prof tests one with a bunch of accelerometers and confirms it's no worse than any tesla or premium ICE vehicle. As afar as I can tell, only donuts get sick in VF8s 😀 I'm no audiophile, but it certainly sounds "fine" to me? Range... If a petrolhead seems to be challenging me by revving, I'll floor it when the lights go green, take off like a (very quiet) rocket and leave them in that lovely V tail-light, but probably burn far too many electrons doing so. 😆 Generally if I'm driving nice and smooth with plenty of cruise and ADAS, I'm getting better-than-official range. Will be interesting to see how that changes as Canadian cold weather starts to set in!

@@NoseyNick thanks for taking the time to answer, it is appreciated 🙏. I'm glad you enjoy the ride and the car. More people should say their positive feedback about the car. Since the battery overexpects what was written, maybe it can surprise for the range in winter 🤷🏽‍♂️, we can only wish.

@@chaudcola They are offering an *unmatched* battery guarantee. 10 years *unlimited* km, or as their new advert says "I can drive a million miles? Let me check, yup, covered!". One theory is that they are over-delivering early, so if it has fallen to "only" quoted capacity in N years, you still can't very well complain. They have given themselves "more space to fall" safely. ... which is still fine with me! I get what I was promised *and more?* Great! 😀
