The video was memorizing and the music was well chosen, peaceful, and relaxing. Originally from Ontario, I been living in BC Ontario for 30 some years and I find it breathtaking. Such a gorgeous Province. The last time I made a trip like this was with a friend as I don't drive. We took the Sault Ste. Marie into Wisconsin border crossing then followed the main highway to Washington and then into BC and finally Vancouver Island. Our trip took us 3 and a half days. Going through the States is far faster but the point here is tripping through Canada. I never made a trip through Canada. I never been to any other Province other then Ontario and BC. So this virtual tour was welcomed. We sure have a lot of flat empty land in this country haha.
I plan to do this drive next summer and do a vacation in BC (after everything is back to normal from Covid) so looking forward to it. Great time lapse can't wait to do it myself /cheers
best driving across Canada time-lapse video I have seen ... you had great weather from my hometown Toronto all the way across to Vancouver (was there and in Victoria in September but flew across). would like to drive across one day and stay in every provincial capital overnight.
Thanks! Yep got lucky with the good weather, not a single cloudy or rainy day. Definitely do the drive when you get a chance. Both Victoria and Vancouver are gorgeous
Technically, the video ends at Coquitlam BC... Vancouver was still about 10km down the road... ; ) But never mind that, it's a trip that I've never done, so this is the next best thing.
Lol yea you're right, but it's the best I could do with what I had planned. And "Toronto to Coquitlam" just doesn't pack the same punch in the title haha. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed!
@@travelxoverland I also noticed you took 'the long way'... the Fraser Canyon over the Coquihalla Hwy... that's more than one hour more, but it's more scenic.
Yep I wanted to just stick with Trans-Canada the whole way, and the views were incredible. It looks so much better in person, the video doesn't do it justice.
you often hear that Saskatchewan is one of, if not the most boring province in Canada but tbh, there is a kind of beauty in the flatness of it, being able to see such long distances with few obstructions. maybe that's just because I live in a province where you don't get to experience that very often, but still
This was my first time seeing the Prairies and I felt the exact same way. In Ontario you don't see this kind of openness, so I was blown away by the endless fields and nothing obstructing your view for miles. Definitely appreciated the beauty in that landscape
The flattest part of the Canadian Prairies is between Regina and Swift Current. I remember as a kid being on a train going from Thunder Bay to Vancouver, I was 10 years old and had never been across the Prairies before. It's almost like an optical illusion the first time you see it.
Holy! I watched the whole entire video for 4 hours straight and it was so amazing and gorgeous and I can’t believe you drove 5 days + rest stops. I know the highway 17 was my 2nd favorite part of the edge of the river and the mountains from Alberta and British Columbia, Rockies, and Banff section is my 1st favorite part of the video! Hope you enjoy!
Planning to start this trip spring early summer 2022. Your video gave me great perspective, it’s fantastic. I’m the only driver so might take a bit longer. Thank you
you don't realize how big Canada really is until you drive across it, I'm glad I went in a semi truck, I wouldn't want to do it in a gas vehicle, be costly
I can’t believe i watched this entire video from start to finish. It was so cool to see how the scenery changed as you went through all the provinces. My favourite section was definitely the rockies in Banff
This was the very first time I actually watched the entire ( nearly 4 hours ) of a RU-vid clip! I totally enjoyed watching the trip, and came along for the ride! It was like I was with you! Took me the 6 days, as well, to watch the journey! 😊😊😊 Proud to be Canadian, and to see Canada 🇨🇦 at it's greatest! Thank you! ❤
Awesome. I dream of driving from Halifax to Vancouver via Toronto. :) Beautiful sky over Ontario-Manitoba border. The Canadian Rockies part is gorgeous,no doubt. The longest distance I have ever driven is Vancouver-Kamloops-Canmore-Jasper-Kelowna-Vancouver. Took me 9 days.
Thanks for watching! Hope you're able to make that trip happen soon. It's an unforgettable drive, and yea the Rockies are just incredible. I miss those mountains now that I'm back in Ontario.
Excellent video quality and great editing. Canada is so vast and so beautiful. I really enjoyed the scenery. I'm planning on making the exact journey summer of 2022. What was your favourite part of trip? Which camera did you use?
Thanks! Really glad you liked it. I enjoyed the whole drive and seeing the prairies for the first time was nice, but of course the mountains in Alberta/BC were just incredible, easily my favourite part. I used a GoPro 7 Black
Let’s not forget, that you took the ramp, to go into Brooks Alberta (2:37:11). But you immediately went back onto the Trans Canada. Why did you do that?
Don't remember exactly, but I was probably looking for a place to take a break and changed my mind about taking that exit, and continued on for a little longer and took a break at the gas station in Bassano
Driving across Canada from Vancouver ends in Toronto. What foolishness. You are just past the halfway mark. Thankfully you have gotten through the boring parts east of the Rockies. To complete the trip you have to continue north-east down the awesome St. Lawrence River then east passing St. Louis du Ha! Ha! (the community holding the world record for the most exclamation marks in its name) and through the magnificently beautiful Atlantic Provinces, the northern end of the Appalachian Mountains, until you get to St. Johns Newfoundland where you can enjoy watching the sunrise earlier than anywhere else in the Americas. You have done a great job so far but it is only half done. The really good parts are yet to come.
Love it. Driven this trip several times. Terrific to see those places again. One wish: that you would put the (route number and the) town, city or county in the upper corner for reference. Or did I miss something? Okay, I see pale writing with highway numbers and province in the lower right! And some notes along the bottom. Wonderful Canadian Shield.
Hey awesome job here! Your Timelapse is so much more smooth than others found on RU-vid. I also want to try something like this. Could you please share with me what Camera gear you used for the recording? Also maybe software for stabilization?
I'd love to do that, but the video would be 50 hours long, and that means it would be a massive file and would take weeks to process the video and upload it. It would be a huge mission
Glad you enjoyed the scenery The average speed was 100 km/h, and I returned the same way - by driving :D I have a video of the drive from Vancouver to Toronto as well
The tireless work of TransCanada's works is incredible in British Columbia, when everything is duplicated it will be great, it's a pity that ontario doesn't do the duplication on her part.
Hi! I have started to watch your videos recently and all I can talk about is how impressed I am. I live in Toronto and it has always been my dream to drive across Canada. I've been to Quebec and B.C. but none of the prairies, the three provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta are the ones which I want to visit next, and all by car! I'm turning 16 soon which means I can get my G1, and then after 8 months I'll have my G2, allowing me to drive alone for the most part. I one day wish to complete this journey, this looks absolutely incredible and this is easily the number one thing I want to partake in my life. Thank you so much for uploading content like this, I promise I will come back to this video one day and share my experiences.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck on your journey whenever that may be, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The Rockies are absolutely breathtaking and seeing the prairies for the first time is also pretty cool. Thanks for watching.
Hey sorry for the late reply. Here's a list of all the songs: Mindme - I'll Leave It up to You (Instrumental) Sture Zetterberg - Million Years Dreem - Satya Jobii - Flakes Luwaks - Below Horizon Velvet Moon - Live Your Life Ooyy - Serengeti These 2 songs were only played once: Jakob Ahlbom - The Gordian Knot Van Sandano - Sana
great video! would you rather drive the usa route from toronto to regina? i hear the gas is cheaper, better roads, more amenities but i would think the northern ontario route is more scenic.. but not sure about doing it in march with the weather
I haven't driven the US route yet, but you're probably right that the Canadian route is more scenic. The US route is probably more flat and boring in terms of scenery but yea more amenities as you said.
I went through about 10 full gas tank refills, but in reality I probably stopped a bit more for gas because it's just more efficient sometimes (i.e. if I'm stopping for a washroom or a food break, it's best to just get gas too even if it's just half a tank, instead of making a separate stop for only gas later on)
Can the driver for these videos update the total kilometres driven for this vehicle? Would be interesting to know just how much this car has driven. Please and thank you. 🙂
Hey Tanya, glad you asked. So all of the Ontario content (except Toronto to Thunder Bay) was recorded with a different car. The car in this video is used only for big road trips. The Ontario-only car has about 202000 km (125500 mi), and this one funnily enough just hit 202000 km today as well. (Not sure if you were asking for a mileage update to be in each video or just a one time update for now.) This car has been to over 30 US states, including trips from Toronto to LA, Florida and more.
@@travelxoverland Ok, Wow. Good time for me to ask because of the mileage it reached the day you replied. I was just asking for one time update for now. Thank you for letting me know. I really enjoy your videos. With the music and scenery, it’s nice and peaceful to have as background too doing stuff around my place. I’m hitting like to all your videos. Very nice.
Awesome quality time lapse. Doing a similar trip soon so was great to see what the scenery will be like. What were your time lapse settings? 1 frame ever 2 or 5 sec? Cheers T
For sure you had an amazing experience. I've a question for you. How did you record the whole video? Time lapse on Iphone or Dashcam or any other device?
I wanted to take a road trip like this, only all the way across the country, but COVID-19 said "no way, José". I was born and live on Vancouver Island, and I have never been further away from where I was born than Calgary.
Hi, did you use your GoPro as a dashcam for your entire trip? If so, did it get overheated and how do you keep the battery charged along the drive? I would love to use some tips from you for my upcoming trip. Thank you!
Impressive! I made the exact same road trip in may 2022 but in the opposite direction. I'll be going from toronto -vancouver again this may, and will be taking the USA route this time!
it is really awesome to see this, I have traveled from Mississauga to Banff and it is memory refreshing for me. One question, what camera did you use for this.
I've done the stretch between toronto and the top of lake superior. Past sue saint marie is a beautiful drive, especially through the wawa area with agawa lookout and old womans bay. I really want to do the full journey some day. Definitely a bucket list item.
Hey I think I answered this before but here's a list of all the songs: Mindme - I'll Leave It up to You (Instrumental) Sture Zetterberg - Million Years Dreem - Satya Jobii - Flakes Luwaks - Below Horizon Velvet Moon - Live Your Life Ooyy - Serengeti These 2 songs were only played once: Jakob Ahlbom - The Gordian Knot Van Sandano - Sana
You deserve a raise for driving across Canada, like seriously people like me who doesn’t have the opportunity to travel to the west, this is a huge gift. Even the USA doesn’t have a roadtrip video as good as this! Now what about Toronto to Yellowknife/Whitehorse?
Thanks for watching Dwayne, really glad you liked the video I was thinking of going up to Yellowknife from BC but never ended up doing it. Maybe I'll go from Toronto to Alaska in the future though
Why is it that every time someone does one of these cross-country road trip videos and they go through Calgary, no one goes on Stoney Trail? It save you a LOT of time when going through Calgary.
I had to go into Calgary to restock on things, and also just wanted to stick to the TransCanada highway as much as I could. But thanks for mentioning this, good to know for the future
Cool! wish you had a map of Canada or even each province in one of the upper corners of the screen, to show approximitly where you were, like a gps. And what would your speed be if converted from timelapse to mph/kph? Anyways, entertaining video, Thank-you
Glad you enjoyed the video Mike! That's a great suggestion about the GPS map but unfortunately I haven't had any luck figuring out a way to do that yet. I'll be looking into it more now that you've reminded me. I was going 100 kph/62 mph on the highway, and this was recorded at 15x speed, so this video is basically 1500 kph/930 mph. Hope that answers it!
I am very curious when you crossed into Winnipeg, did you have to go though road border checkpoint of some sort? Also when you made your way to Calgary did you have to go through border check point while driving by?
There were no checkpoints at the time that I went - they were all removed by then. So it was all smooth sailing, no barriers of any sort. But, Manitoba did have restrictions in effect. Only essential activity was allowed for travellers (food, gas, etc.) transiting through Manitoba. And if I remember correctly, we only had 24 hours to pass through Manitoba after entering.
Love the video! doing this trip in a couple of weeks but I want to do it in 3 days. which hotel/inn would you recommend to spend the night throughout the journey? And what would you suggest to pack for a trip like this. I've a couple more questions :)
3 days eh, you'll really have to keep your breaks short and cut back on sleep too, but I guess it's doable. For hotels, in general, I never have any issues staying at the popular budget chains like Travelodge, Super 8, etc. On this drive though, I didn't need to stay at any hotels since my SUV is converted into a mini camper. On other trips, I just find cheap hotels with a decent rating. For packing, it's hard to say because it really depends on the person and your specific needs. Maybe just take the things you would normally take for a 3-7 day trip. For more ideas, you could google "road trip checklist" or something. Hope that helps, if you have more questions let me know. And have a fun trip!
I partially agree, because, about how this traveler goes way slower than the speed limit, like, what is this, 10 miles slower, like come on, Unclecoolie isn't like that, I know going slower is safer, but not only it takes longer to get to the next destination, it holds up traffic. However, the only thing that you are missing is, if you play it on 0.25x, other cars passing by is doing the exact speed limit, and I can tell that a long road tripper is not doing the right speed. 1% passing cars, 99% other cars passed us.
I was going exactly at the speed limit. Going 20-30 over the speed limit has become the norm for most drivers since the pandemic, and my old truck with it's big off road tires would get much worse gas mileage going faster
I absolutely love this. makes me realise how massive Canada is. We in the UK can drive from Lands End to Jon O' Groats in a day. Keep up the awesome work. I do have a suggestion. It would be great if the video had timestamp details. to show your progress
Yea haha at some points during this drive it starts to really feel endless. I'd love to do that UK drive in the near future when travelling is easier! Do you mean timestamp details like the ones in the video's description? Or something else altogether?
@@travelxoverland no I mean in the actual video where you can see the time and date. It would show what time of the day you started driving and when you stopped
I'm so glad you like it, and yea this drive itself is such a marathon. This video was recorded at 15x speed, and soon I'll be uploading the drive back from Vancouver to Toronto at 10x speed so it'll be even more enjoyable.
@@travelxoverland oh okay make sence. That was a great video. I have not been across Canada since about 40 years ago. I'm thinking of going soon. Right to Vancouver from Mississauga. Your vid is very helpfull.
Honestly I have no idea about that, but if I had to guess, it won't be happening any time soon due to the remoteness and low traffic in Northern Ontario. The demand for it might not be there yet.
@@travelxoverland You would likely be correct about demand for a double roadway of the Trans-Canada in northern Ontario being low, due to only about 6% of Ontario's population living in Northern Ontario, and with the large portion of that 6% living in Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay, North Bay, and Timmins they likely only double roadway the sections of Highway near those population centers
@@joshe-k3865 I agree, but I observe, it is leaving little by little, but as the highway in the other provinces are double, it is strange that in its passage through ontario, part of it is still not duplicated, it is gradually doubling
