I have a 2011 tacoma i wanted to put this in. But one company selling your locker said if installing in a 4.0l 05-15 i would have to change my carrier to a 2.7l carrier from a 3rd gen? Shouldnt it work in all carriers for 05-up?

What is a realistic time frame to do the whole job? Two people working and one is a mechanic.
@corajokinen253

3 hours is realistic. Make sure you have the special socket before getting started. A mechanic will probably have the socket.

Thanks for the video! How does this behave with a rear lunchbox locker? I have one in the rear and looking to add this in the front in my 15 Tacoma

In 2WD a front locker is not noticeable at all. in 4WD it's there to add extra traction. With a rear locker you will need 4WD less in snow and ice.

Very helpful! Is this for front only? Can you also get a rear locker for Tacoma/4runner?

We have a rear locker available for older 4Runners, but not newer than 2001. Here's the fitment for the model in the video: Fitment: 2003 - 2022 Toyota 4Runner 2015 - 2022 Toyota Fortuner 2003 - 2009 Toyota Hilux Surf 2005 - 2022 Toyota Tacoma 4wd 2007 - 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser 2005 - 2022 Toyota Hilux Pickup

My Land Cruiser Prado 98 diesel has the H=High speed box (70% power in the rear, 30% in the front) HL= High speed Lock Differential (50% rear, 50% forward) LL= Low speed Lock Differential (for extreme conditions), is it possible to install TORQ Locker??

We would not recommend a front axle locker because you don't have 2wd for on the road driving.

These lockers cause the front drive shaft to spin at all times when moving even in 2wd. Will this damage the transfer case having the drive shaft spin while not engaged in 4wd?
@corajokinen253
@corajokinen253 6 месяцев назад
@Eric-qu2vp No, the locker will not cause any issues with the transfer case.

Before I make the jump, do you need to run a gear pattern? does pinion depth need to be adjusted after installation?
@TorqMastersIndustries
@TorqMastersIndustries 9 месяцев назад
No, you don't have to adjust backlash at all. You don't touch the pinion. That's the beauty of this type of locker, easy to install. We like to say, if you can change the brakes on a car, you have the mechanical ability to install a TORQ Locker.

@@TorqMastersIndustries How does the TORQ locker affect daily drivability? Just Keep it in 2hi? Toyota does recommend putting my Tacoma in 4hi once a month to keep things lubricated. Im just concerned if having the front diff locked while driving will cause any issues. Thanks for the replies

@@joshlopez9913 Normal daily driving in 2WD will feel the same as an open differential, no lock up at all in 2WD. You can use 4WD with a front locker on the road if needed in deep snow. One of your front axle shafts is always turning, that keeps things lubricated. I don't see a need to shift into 4wd once a month, we don't do that with any of our vehicles.

Do you have a rear auto locker with the same fitment for Tacoma?
@corajokinen253

We do not currently have one for the rear axle application

What's the drivability in 4wd for someone who lives in an area where it snows 6 months out of the year?
@1unkn0wn
@1unkn0wn Год назад
I imagine its similar to any other lunch box style mechanical locker. IME I would not put a lunch box in the front of a vehicle that I drive regularly in the snow. I had a lunchbox in the front of a rig years ago and it would pull side to side and power though (understeer) corners in the snow. In the rear lunch box lockers are far less noticeable.

Bought it, installed it and it works but will not disengage for the love of God. Did the clearance test and one tire test and seems to disengage but will not disengage while driving doing figure eights. I'm taking it out for an front arb locker. Stick with selectable if your rig is not a dedicated trail rig.
