Even my upgraded from Carbotech AX6 pads feel like they're not enough for the car now. Yeah the single exit titanium sounds so much better than any quad exhaust I have listened to. I always hear a deep exhaust drone from the quad set ups compared to the single exit. I don't like the look of the single exit, but it makes the in cabin driving experience so much better for me on the daily.

And here's the thing that many people just don't understand with the FA24'd WRX. When you're comparing things like Civic's/Corolla's etc, and putting the WRX behind, they are completely missing that the WRX can very cheaply be made a lot faster with USEABLE power compared to the GR/Type R. The Type R is a phenomenal machine, but it's on it's limit of traction capabilities IMO, and the GRC already has temp issues with the rear diff. The WRX can surpass them both, BUT will need more investment in braking and suspension parts to make it a real contender. Again, the WRX has USEABLE power after tuning. Headline figures mean nothing, if you can't put the power down.
@JDMRightHandDrive
@JDMRightHandDrive Год назад
Well said Matt. Yes brakes need to be improved. Even with my Carbotech AX6 front pads the extra power makes them feel like they are no longer enough. The 2024 WRX has pictures of the 6 piston STI brake kit on it. When that car comes out and the new OEM VB WRX brake rotors come out that fit the STI brake kit. I will find myself a set of used STI 6 piston Brembos. Thanks for watching my channel, I appreciate your support. 👍

Yeah lots of people want to see this engine in the Crosstrek. That off road overland community would definitely benefit from that as an option. Lot's of good stuff in this vid Josh. Cool, Julia knows the diff between a tire and a wheel! 4:15 Not everybody knows that. Believe it or not I had an insurance claims adjuster once who didn't know that! I'd guess from the shape of the torque curve and boost falling from 19psi to 15psi that you won't get very much more without going to a bigger turbo, fuel pump, and injectors. But the way it is right now should be really good on a road course! Maybe finishing the exhaust system would be a good next step if there's much to be gained there? Or leave it the way it is so it's "reliable" for the next quite a few years LOL. #totheend

Dynojet’s are as much as 14% higher, but Mustangs are a bit more realistic. But whatever, it’s just a tool. That torque hit is a bit harsh, I would have laid the timing a bit flatter in there to control the spike, it just makes the car feel a bit more linear and balanced. It’s also easier on the driveline. No problem and glad to hear your found my WRX videos to be helpful. I did consider a top mount for a while, but in the end I know that front mount offers better overall cooling efficiency. A bigger top mount would be better compared to stock, but will still suffer from heat soak above the engine inside the engine bay. Plus back in 2002 when I built by 1st WRX I installed a Blitz FMIC on that. I want to have a front mount because I want to try and build my new WRX to be just like my old one. @716Flat4
@716Flat4 Год назад
The 2015-2021 WRX had a redline of 6700...or at least my 2016 did. The FA24 is basically a bored out FA20 to my limited understanding. I have seen videos of tuners pushing 7k on these already so I think the 6500 mark is the sort of "go-to" safe stopping point and from the graphs and reviews that extra 500 really opens the car up on top. I honestly think most drivers would be happier if Subaru just extended redline to 6500 stock just to be able to shift a little less frequently and maybe hit 60 in 2nd...frankly surprised Subaru didnt do that but it was probably so they could meet some emissions specification.

These engines man...they have so much to give. It is the clutch, transmission, diffs and xfer cases that will go before the engine hits its limit and we already have a few reference cases to prove that. I will tell you that from a standpoint of reliability, it does seem that anyone who flirts past the 400s on torque seems to be blowing gears on hard pulls, ive seen 3rd go a couple times...that being said, the expected part to wear first on mods will be your clutch if you are just a spirited daily. Be ready to get an upgraded clutch and consider saving for an sti transmission...if you ever want more power or the safety of abusing the power you already have, those are the 2 key ingredients from this point imo. I owned a 2016 and kept it stock...regretted it ever since. I am buying a new one inside of 90 days so it will be a 23 or maybe a 24 if they hit lots soon enough. I have a day 1 shopping list for wheels and rubber, but 2 different price lists for performance or aesthetics. So torn on what to do. I appreciate people like you helping to lead the way on information gathering...you are our test cases and without you having the courage to take the leap of faith, a lot of us wouldn't be able to. The one thing I am curious about is your thoughts on the potential RTV issues? Did you have your pan dropped to check for issues at any point? There is a lot of debate over warranty on that specific issue with modding right now as Subaru has refused to acknowledge it officially in any way despite there being reported failures in both performance and non-performance models...its like a dirty secret thats being swept under the rug because there are numerous reports of people dropping the pan and finding it as well as people finding next to nothing. I am just curious if you weighed that at all into your decision to mod and if you took any steps to investigate it as dropping the pan 100% will void warranty on the rtv issues but modding is up in the air if an rtv issue hits.
@JDMRightHandDrive
@JDMRightHandDrive Год назад
Thanks for all the feedback in your comment. I enjoy hearing viewers constructive feedback and concerns. Yeah that 400 tq is that point you will start to have issues with things like the clutch. That is the reason I kept the stock j-pipe on my car. I know that the stock clutch would have failed with more horsepower and that is not in my budget right now with my 20k RB28 build I am doing. I also like the heat shielding with the stock J-pipe and feel it better suits me with the quieter exhaust sound. I sure hope my transmission, diffs and transfer case all hold together for a few years. I very rarely drive aggressively, so I hope that helps me. Even after the pro tune, I am still averaging 28 MPG. As far as the RTV, I have never seen any particles come out of the oil pan during oil changes. I guess I could drop the oil pan for piece of mind just to see the condition of what's going on in there. Appreciate you leaving a good detailed comment. Glad to hear you enjoy my WRX videos. Happy to hear you are getting yourself a new VB WRX, have fun with your mods. Thanks for watching, stay tuned.

Not only the RTV, but maybe oil sloshing away from the pickup too, when you brake and then throw it into a hard right-hand corner. This has been shown for the FA24 BRZ but I don't know if the WRX would have the same problem. Do you know if it has been shown for the WRX? The really good vid showing this for the BRZ is: BRZ/GR86 FA24 Oil Pressure Loss Demonstration. RU-vid channel is 900BRZ. Posted June 26, 2023.
@716Flat4
@716Flat4 Год назад
@@BioCosmic--Dust I think there are 2 primary reasons we do not see this on the WRX yet. First is the sad fact that the new VB has only been selling about 30-40% of the expected units whereas the BRZ has been moving as expected or better. The second reason is that a lot of WRX people do not track their cars. It is reportedly much more common to see a brz/86 on track. I was reading something about their being a lack of baffles contributing to this but I am unsure how true that is as it would seem to be common sense to baffle anything that could be gravitationally forced into a problem.

@JDMRightHandDrive
@JDMRightHandDrive Год назад
I figure this is a good starting point for me. I want to learn the car and test the chassis limits before pushing next level power. Also not the most data available on this car. I want to start at a power level that most people would probably feel comfortable with their builds. My car was the 1st VB WRX PIA has had on the dyno as well. This was a good opportunity to conservativly tune a FA24 and build upon from there. Right now with building my RB28 for my Skyline GTR, I don't want to take a chance of smoking the clutch or destroying the transmission in my WRX. Later on, I would like to get a flex fuel kit when it comes out and push the VB a little harder, but that wont be until next year I think. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching. 👍

Finally somebody on the channel with some common sense. The new FA24 was a huge upgrade from the EJ25. Thanks for watching.

Those look pretty conservative, so props to you. How much did they charge?

Yeah, I am perfectly happy with how fast the car feels. Even with my lower power levels it really makes me feel like I need some Brembo brakes. Luckily I have a set of 2019 STI 6 pistons brakes coming tomorrow. More content to come, stay tuned. Oh yeah, pro tune cost was $700. They said they can do a touch up tune when I add more parts for $350ish

I hope I didnt hear what I thought I herd, but it sounded like he did pulls with all your added parts on the factory tune. Your incredibly lucky your engine is still intact. Subarus are a absolute no no when it comes to changing any airflow parts then driving or sending it with out a compensated tune. I see this time and time again. People blow their engine then blame the car or blame cobb. There is more support and knowledge out there on safely building a subaru then any other vehicle by far. Please use the resources people, and follow the map notes on the OTS tunes.

They need a 6S program in the shop, a little messy.

It could use a good clean, they look like they almost have to much business to have the time to clean. Thanks for watching my channel.

How come you never installed your trunk spoiler?
@JDMRightHandDrive
@JDMRightHandDrive Год назад
Personally, I didn't like the fact that it was made out of plastic. Plus my friend talked me into selling it to him. I am waiting to see what else come out for this platform. I will add a spoiler and some upgraded aero at some point.

Do you have a blow off valve installed?
@JDMRightHandDrive
@JDMRightHandDrive Год назад
No I removed it and went back to the stock bov per PIA recommendation. I think the stock bov makes the car sound better. Turbo flutter and noises are louder now.

@@JDMRightHandDrive you'll be fine. If Aeroflowdynamics is having a good time with their VB while still making 500 horspower, 350 wheel in yours is easily doable. Additionally, if a Crosstrek is easily running 570 whp as a daily back from 2019 to now with no rod bearing issues (yes, it had a Ascent FA24 swapped in), then it only goes to show you how well Subaru updated the engine and transmission. Obviously, we'll see in the future how durable they truly are, but it's looking like good news for us

Subaru should of never put the 2.0 in the wrx. Basicaly have the same mods and ur making alot more hp than my fa20

That is why I never bought a VA WRX. The FA20 was good but not refined by Subaru like the FA24dit is. Subaru learned a lot from building their 1st FA series engines and made the new FA24 so much more robust. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. More to come, stay tuned.

Only time will tell. Lots of others with these power levels for a while now. I will be the test dummy for the VB WRX community. I am going to change the oil every 3k miles and not drive the car like it's stolen, with only occasional pulls. Thanks for watching.
