Excellent video on torquing springs.Makes all the concept clear.Having read everyone's questionnaire and answers I understood that using 17*25 Rect as the archwire and torquing loops can be made with .016 or .018 ss or 18*25 TMA wire.The technique is so helpful. Thanks so much once again

Thanks a lot for sharing this. If I Wanted to apply a lower force to begin with, should I make the spring not so flat to the floor (3:50), but pointing towards the roots (for root lingual torque - lower teeth) at an angle? Also because the force depends on the size of the main AW too

For lower arch with lingual root torque does the posterior archwire moves apically as well?
@baselmidani3084
@baselmidani3084 3 года назад
If the spring is bent to push lingually on the crown, the edgewise wire will twist to produce labial root torque (Figs 1-3b). This is an example of an impossi- ble appliance. Placing the auxiliary on a round wire makes the mechanism possible (Fig 1-3c). The biomechanical foundation of clinical orthodontics

If I am using slot 22 MBT what minimum size of wire should I use 19*25? In other words can the torque spring be applied on AW circular SS wires or it will cause alot of uncontrolled tipping?
@jvaraneta
@jvaraneta 5 лет назад
a 19x25 NiTi is too big. a 17x25 NiTi would be good enough.

I thought about it but i dont think so considering the area is too small and the it would be difficult for the material to stick to the SS@@zenASDF

Hi doc, for all anterior teeth torqueing, is it needed to attach each anterior brackets with torque springs? Or Is it possible to put only two springs while wire ligating the anteriors together? Thanks
@jvaraneta
@jvaraneta 2 года назад
hi! I wouldn't use this for all anterior teeth at the same time. The A.R.T. spring can do that.

What grade of 016 / 018 ss are you using to form the spring? Does the spring "grip" a rectangular wire to provide torque? Thanks
@jvaraneta
@jvaraneta 7 лет назад
hi! i use regular grade SS. the round wire is wrapped around the rectangular tightly to provide the force. in most cases, I have to crimp the springs to better the grip.

Would this help straighten a tooth that was aligned at an incline using braces? To make it sit flush with the rest of the teeth?
@jvaraneta

yes, but you have to be careful that there is no overcorrection by seeing the patient 1-2 weeks after activation.
