If I was a judge, I would given them no score for this at all. I just would have declared them the winners and walked away. There aren't enough numbers on a score card to give to this performance. It was more than just perfect. It was divinely inspired. T&D are a treasure without equal. The best ever.
Jane i Chris są jak jedno ciało i jedna dusza. Dla mnie nie było, nie ma i nie będzie pary, która byłaby tak magiczna w swoich występach. Oglądam ich z zapartym tchem i ogromnym wzruszeniem. Pozdrawiam serdecznie 💌.
I remember seeing this routine on television and thinking that it was sheer perfection in every way. I'm so glad that you were able to post this online because I had honestly thought that I would never see such beauty again. Simply breathtaking.
Ballet on ice! Never thought it was possible... until this beautiful rendition. Wouldn't the experience, this revelation of beauty be highlighted if we, the viewers , could see and hear the complete wedding of music and dance portrayal uninterrupted by displays of enthusiasm and rapturous involvement by enamoured ice dance fans.Nice bit of accompanying cinematography. Totally absorbing.
This is so stunningly beautiful! The choreography is incredible and the atmosphere set by the music and the storytelling is spellbinding. T & D don’t just dance on the ice, they create a living breathing moving piece of art!
a truly beautiful routine & performed with such emotion, the most beautiful performance ive ever seen, never will we see the like of these 2 again, truly amazing.
You all have that right... frickin' unbelievable, nobody will ever compare, I have started watching figure skating in 1994 because of Chris and Jayne, then found out they had been champions before, and watched the rest of their videos... and to this day I have not seen anything as amazing as what they had with "Bolero" or this one, or Hatrick etc. They remain the brightest stars in ice dancing!!!
When this routine aired I was mesmerized and it was so intense and so well done that it brought me to tears. You could imagine this situation happening.
When I first saw this routine, I was breathless with awe and, I think, heartbreak. It is the epitome of elegant simplicity and, after the classic Bolero routine, is my favourite Torvill and Dean performance.
Wow!! this is the first time I've seen this. the cheoragraphy, the music, the body expressions so perfectly expresses this feeling of 2 people who fall in love and must part - reluctantly. Just lovely.
I was so fortunate to see them do this live. Everyone in the audience must have been sucking on a Halls or a Ricola because there was not a cough or clearing of a throat to be heard. Only the music and their blades. Five minutes so breathtaking it was like being in another world.
each time I watch this, I fall to pieces... this is one of the unforgettable moments that happened in figure skating. simply unmatched by any other dancing couple... I'm having goosebumps upon goosebumps
Such a great interpretation of this music. You can feel the emotions in their movements. My favorite T and D routine. I watch it often. I find it relaxing. I just love how she touches his face and he always kisses her after every routine. Such a deep and sincere friendship.
Mary Heath; Remember this is 1994 ten years on from first performance of this piece and the year they went to Olympics again and were so marked down because of the prejudice against them returning. It is an outstanding performance again. I went to many of their ice shows and they were always terrific and at that time NO WAY had they lost the magic of what they could do. This was a truly remarkable piece of choreography and interpretation
Как же здорово, без всяких прыжков, подкруток, новомодных вращений, целый спектакль, наверно, сейчас не обойтись без технических нововведений, всё таки это прежде всего спорт, но как же красиво было, сейчас этого нет, ушло.
The incredible choreography and techinal holds make Jayne and Chris the best in the world yesterday and in the future. No one will better their scores....
OMG this is the most beautiful and haunting piece I have ever seen......sent shivers and tears through me.......thank you so much gk891 for posting this......
Die beiden sind der Hammer sie tanzen es mit so einer⛸ Leichtigkeit, als wäre es nichts.ich bin begeistert, denn das ist Kunst.wie zwei Statuen,🧘🏿♀️🧘♂️einfach zu schön
wow! So simple yet emotion displayed is very intense! They have an amazing control when it comes to doing turns in the air... they were not rushing to hurl around very quickly. It seems like nowadays, turns are made rather made harshly in other couples
You posted 3 years ago and I've watched this 3 months ago - but have watched it several times since. Between the 84 performance and this one, I prefer this performance. Perhaps its the maturity in which they express their emotions through their dance. No longer innocent hopefuls in their 20's but in their mid 30's and have seen so much more of life, really understanding that love, attraction, just isn't enough.
Like nothing that came before them and there has been nothing better since. Every move of every program was perfection. Unlike a lot of skaters, they never relied on "stock" moves that you see in every program. Every new piece was NEW and fresh and brilliant!
I watched this duo from a dvd and loved the choreography and music . I checked out the leaflet with the dvd and was pleased to see the music that touched me was of George Winston whom I am a great fan of. Their interpretation was just breathtaking.
My heart is happy to see so many people still appreciate the artistry of these two... The piece is, of course, mindblowing to say the least. *in ruins* I would get their DVD with all the routines in a nanosecond!!! I think they have a few out... but not a comprehensive one yet.
I was watching some of the other couples ice dancing and I agree that the other couples seem to hurl themselves around in the jumps and leaps. Jayne and Chris seem to take their time to execute their moves, making them look graceful and easy, but I guess they aren't because the judges usually score them high on technical.
It is a gorgeous routine - one of my all-time favourites of theirs - but to comply with the ISU's regulations at the Olympics and other senior competitions, they would have had to cut it down by more than two minutes, which they might well have felt would change the character of the dance too much. Also, it is my understanding that they went with "Face the Music" for the 1994 Olympics as they had been led to believe that the judges were looking for a return to a more traditional, ballroom-based style of ice dancing and wouldn't have appreciated the more avant-garde works that they had been producing and performing as professionals.
Actually they changed the ice dancing rules to be reflective of actual DANCING and what is expected of each type of dance. If someone is going to "dance" on ice, and do any of the prescribed dances, they should follow the expectations and rules of that particular competitive dance. So I SEE why they did it. It DID, however, make these fun and modern types of performances redundant and no longer relevant. One cannot simply INTERPRET music, the way Torvill and Dean did, and win competitions. Now they actually have to perform these dances with actual proper dance techniques (think Dancing With The Stars).
@@kugelweg To be fair, Chris and Jayne wouldn't have been able to perform this as a competitive routine when they were skating in the amateur ranks (it's too long for a start). It was actually one of the first of their show routines when they turned professional in 1984. It then seemed to disappear from their show repertoire until they revived it in the mid-1990's. I'd loved it from the first time I saw it on TV in 1984 and was lucky enough to see them perform it live in a show at London's Wembley Area, I think on their Face the Music tour.
@@victoriagill3337 They first performed it at the 1984 World Professional World Championships, along with Song of India, which also featured in their first world tour in 1985. Encounter seemed to disappear from their repertoire for a few years, and I was thrilled to see them perform it in a show in London on one their tours in the mid 1990s.
These two skaters capture the sensual nature of their art. They speak to our souls profoundly and always have. None of the skaters today ever capture the soul. Their skilled for sure but only technically correct. Boring
