Tory has perfected that auto tune and his engineer is on another level, those punch ins and deleting every line every time on time over and over is crazy. People just know if you a dope engineer you are VALUABLE
people dont understand that, its 50/50 split, imagine you had a slow ass engineer or vice versa, and engineer quicker than the artist. it doesnt work..this is how its supposed to be done. SALUTE to both of them.
@@slay1432 I’m an engineer so I know what you’re saying but that’s not a normal work flow between artist and engineer. It’s usually one is faster than the other. Most artist can’t keep up with my engineering process and most engineers can’t keep up with me when I’m in the booth.
I record similar to this, for years...the fact he has an engineer doing this shit for him is like having a second brain in the process it's unreal. Boy is blessed.
@@fadie670 I mean man tbh it's all in your head...it's hard to teach because it takes time to get good at recording like that but it's worth learning you can make songs in a few hours and ppl will think you spent months on it.
@@fadie670 no problem bro, if you good at writing on the spot all you really gotta do is make your lines as you record....sounds a lot harder than it is, Wayne does the same thing.
I’ve been doing it since 2019. It’s more organic and it helps you sharpen your mind. So when you actually try and freestyle the pattern is easy to ride and the words just flow out. It also make it more organic when you record each of the bars (two bars minimum).
If you make music or appreciate music on a deep level, what we're watching is pure genius. This man is freaking amazing. One of my favorite artists of the last this and last decade
@@2stroketyson79 if it's not written that's usually how it be. But listening to tory music its definitely worth it cause the end result is dope he makes great music love em or hate em he got talent
@@2stroketyson79 u must not know what punching in is…eazy e and dr dre created it..lil wayne and jay z mastered it…its freestyling in the studio my nigga …
The engineer even has the auto tune where it catches every note and synchronized it where it’s custom to his sound. Most times when you’re a little off note on a basic auto tune it’ll sound way off. He barely has to stay on the key and it catches it and he uses the perfect amount of reverb the engineer is dangerous. Basically a basic singer on this auto tune set up can sound just as amazing as Chris brown with a regular engineer.
The art of punch-in recording each line can make you create things you otherwise would not have "written down". I used to do this way back in the day when I was recording myself on an 8track portastudio lol. When you get an engineer (like this one) who knows how to get right back and WHEN... you can't help but create HEAT...especially if an artist (Like Tory) can come up with shit on the fly.
For those of you wondering. The Engineer may have trained with labeled key covers or has learned the shortcut key strokes for what ever DAW that is being used. ie - Pause, Play, Trim, Cut, and most importantly Save! A real engineer knows to never delete anything on ( Sonar X1, Pro Tools, Ableton live, fL Studio etc.) Thus making this process faster and seamless. The true talent is having an eye on the the artist and being able to cue on the artist’s signals. You can tell they both are very close and possibly have years in together. The Compression, Auto Tune, reverb ect. Effects used were more then likely adjusted prior to recording. That’s half the work. Watch T-Pain put together songs like “I like dat” and “Single Lady” live on RU-vid or twitch. That is always step 1. This duo is a rear occurrence.
Yea the auto tune is set perfectly he can’t miss a note if he tried. Most artist if they miss a key it’ll sound bad the engineer has it where every key you can hit. That’s crazy
@@quickstepz9250 you should probably be more concerned with having your boyfriend's dinner ready, with some sexy lingerie on when he comes home from work... 😂🤣😂 dude you know how angry he gets when you still have on your janitor uniform smh😭😭
The creation process of every line hit looks effortless. Big ups to the engineer for being able to rewind, forward, delete etc on command like that WOW . Umbrella Mob going up! ☔️☔️
O.K. thanks! I didn't have the opportunity to catch the stream. Also, I really hope on this project he places older IG session songs on there...such as *"Quarantine"* and *"Time Away"* , and that would be nice! 😎
Yo Tory this is the Dopest thing any artist has ever done live for they fans creatively ✊🏽💯💪🏽 Solute for this big dawg. I’m a huge music fan but I’m more of a fan of the creative process so this right here is waay more entertaining 💯
This style is what makes his songs insane, because just like when rappers go to radio stations and forget what they are going to say and then make a sound or some shit, this allows him to go back and listen to what he said, and come back with a harder verse
Fuck a label.. Keep doin it your way, create a new wave for the next in line. Show them young and upcoming dudes how to do it properly. Because this industry is a bunch of yes men. Show em how to stay true to our culture (we started this shit) THIS IS OUR CULTURE!!!! DONT SELL OUT TORY!!! STAY 💯 Big respect👍🏽👍🏽🍾🍾
@@Liamd when we support independent artist they get all the money in their pockets. If they backed by a label most of them artist either don't have no real money or the labels are raping them. Most artist only get paid from going on tours. (Checkout a youtube video when 21 savage is explaining his contract saying he gets a 70/30 split with the label) he explains in the video that most artist have to go on tour to get their money. Most artist owe the label after the record sales.
Not sure many realize just how HARD it is with that freestyle/punch in shit he’s doing. To be freestyling with that type of flow, that pocket he’s in and have it actually be dope? That shit is not easy at all!! Sheesh
This just NASTY 🔥🧯🚒🧨 on so many levels...the creative process, the punches, the vibe, and the opportunity to be taken along for the ride wit a front row seat! #GrindRespected
You really got something here!!! If you release these songs people will definitely vibe with it, as they will feel like they help create it. Marketing genius
To all rappers and artists, when you come to work (the studio), come dressed for work! How you dress is how you feel. You see how he did that “jacket blood red” bar in the first song and “bottega slippers” bar in the second song? It felt good n it was true when he said them. He couldve never did that if he dressed bummy. Alot of yall be in mix-matched socks n wrinkled shirts talking bout you fly and expect your audience to believe you. When you come to work, PUT. THAT. SHIT. ON.
this one of the coolest things ive watched. super dope. props to the engineer. this video made me maybe realize what id actually like to do and go to school for. seeing this creative process and as much fun as i had watching this made me want to be an engineer. on top of Calling being one of my favorite songs right now and its not even released.
Punching in is time consuming vs having your verses written but if you're good at then that's whats up its like freestyling but recording your freestyle.
This is the best way to record coming from someone who just graduated in media arts and productions and took audio engineering and advanced this is the best. I hope to do something like this someday and also do my own music like this it’s hard tho, you need a lot of good equipment and somewhat of a team but once you achieve that you can make greatness
Producers are under appreciated!! It’s a a real skill to start/stop on que and then edit out the fuck ups so the verse is seamless. Make sure you pay dat man!!
You lucky this shit fire cause if it was ass and you went thru this “process” then I’d have to question reality. Appreciate opening the curtain to authentic inspired recording.
