Most of these new producers are looking to get placements and that’s all they care about , try to find a producer who really wants to work with you and someone who can understand your thought process. Making music is like painting art it’s just in frequencies.

you should only freestyle to get the cadence not so much the lyrics. that’s why every lyric he’s singing sound generic like it’s been heard before. they provides no substance. take j.i for instance. when he first came out he used similar beats as everyone else but his cadence and mostly lyrics set him apart. his lyrics were creative relatable and tricky, writing matters.

I mostly freestyle all my lyrics, cuz I practiced at my freestyling for hours as a teen and got it down to where it is ALMOST FLAWLESS, despite the little messing up and breath control. Everybody got they own unique way of doing music, I can write for other people but I can't rap my own lyrics off the paper, it sounds like I'm just reading, it doesn't sound right it good,so I have to freestyle all my stuff and just write little bits and pieces of lyrics to memorize and put down thoughts and ideas. I write. On my notebook and iPhone. Sometimes I’ll write the same song on both so I can keep it in memory better. I freestyle the melody and words here and there. I can’t freestyle words but the Melody and the rhythm I can. Both processes help. I think you have to find what works for you.
