Yeah, it's honestly one of the few moments he shows remorse for his actions. He knows he screwed up, specially since Johnny doesn't fight back, proving himself the bigger man.
@@TrAiNZiLLA Chozen looked up Flights to Okinawa in episode 3 which explains his abscence in episodes 4 and 5. Mike Barnes was there to select the 6 fighters for the Sekai Taikai. I’m pretty sure they’ll both be back especially for the finale.
I feel bad for Tory, man. She needs a proper W. I kind of wish Devon said something in that moment considering both her and Johnny understand Tory's pain. Maybe she would've been the one to calm her down enough to fight.
I feel like Johnny and Tory should have connected way more deeper than they should have in the show because they basically have the same story and childhood
Yet some Daniel meatrider or ppl who just hate Johnny forget that.. “her mother just died” understandable..but bro once she said she wanted to fight, no other objection should’ve been made..and the fact that everybody ignores the one fucking thing that Daniel always does to get back in bad graces with Johnny is by subliminally dissing him by saying “that’s not the miyagi way” saying he’s not balanced..knowing miyagi’s past now and once someone else besides him or chozen or anyone in his family disses him, he feels Johnny doesn’t have no room to talk because of kreese..which is understandable..but then again despite in the fucked up ways kreese ruined Johnny he also loved him..same with miyagi..the fact that Daniel always feels like he’s right all the time is mind boggling🤦🏾♂️Johnny Literally related to her the most and Daniel for once should’ve just listened..considering he still has his mom while Johnny basically had nobody after his mom
I think that Daniel is sometimes too stubborn, trying to mould every student to fit into the Miyagi Do's way. Johnny had crossed the line by telling Daniel that Mr Miyagi was a liar and a thief, but he make some valid points here.
No he can’t just let Tory get her rage out you saw how Tory broke that piece of solid stone in season 5 out of anger that could’ve been Sam’s face she almost killed Sam in season 2 after just kissing Miguel
Yeah, I agree. Daniel doesn’t quite understand that there are more ways to resolve a situation than the “Miyagi way”, despite the fact that Miyagi says that one must find their own way
@@patrickrichard5948 it was a poor plot device. Showrunners tried to make this an argument draw by having Daniel to bring that poor argument, so Johhny's anger angle wouldn't look necessarily wrong, but deep down Daniel was right: You cannot fight with anger because you will become a destructive person
I understand why Daniel had to stop the fight, though. Logically, a sensei would not want their students to fight in a disturbed state of mind. It's not Tory's fault, but Daniel knows how hard it is losing a parent at a young age. I say "young age" because technically, Tory is almost an adult, whereas Daniel lost his father at a younger age. Since karate involves the brain, the heart and the other relevant muscles, it is generally best to have all of these functioning in perfect or near optimal condition when you're sparring (except when its an emergency situation, such as life or death). An event such as the death of a relative will at least cause the brain to become confused, confounding the person's thought process in ways that can be unpredictable. Just to be clear, however, I am not a psychologist, I just know this from experience.
I think if Miyagi were still alive, he’d tell Daniel to stop glazing him. Johnny is so right about Daniel building Miyagi up to be this God. Yes he was essentially Daniel’s father, but I’ll be honest, I don’t even think Miyagi would want a dojo named after him.
Daniel has always been a goody two shoes from when he tried to play hero and intervene between Johnny and Ali and then in the beginning of part 2 when Miyagi was about to chop Kreese Daniel was like no don't do it.
I remember when Mr Miyagi did tell some part of his past to Daniel when they first started training how when he was younger he did fight and yes he probably omitted some parts bv like anyone when their younger sometimes to see the mistakes of their past when they could have made different choices were not always right bc when u get older that's why parents work hard to tell their kids right from wrong bc they have seen the cause of wrong choices even of their minor ones how they affect others and as Miyagi said he used to fight which probably when he did the boxing part of his life as we saw in kk1 he was sad and kinda messed up from losing his child and his love so it makes sense till Daniel came into his life
Johnny shouldn't have said what he said about Miyagi, but Daniel is so closed minded that he insists on ramming Miyagi down everyone's throat and that his dojo is the only one. Can't blame Johnny as much on this one.
@@dragonfire4527 that too and it just proves how much Tory has changed because old Tory wouldn’t have cared 😂but this version of Tory would have I feel for her especially since she is the only child…
@@janderson947 Well Tory does have a younger brother so she's not completely alone (yes he's too young to care for her but still it's the thought that counts). And yes if it was s2-3 Tory she would relish the opportunity to hurt Sam but s5-6 Tory would absolutely regret hurting her and even blame herself for ruining Sam's chances at winning the Sekai Taikai.
I see people complaining that Johnny and Daniel's characters are going completely backwards, but imo, that's not true. In S4, Daniel and Johnny would never agree with each other, and they chose to let their past rivalry get the better of them, fighting over arguments and splitting up. If you pay close attention, this scene shows their character development well. On Daniel's side, he immediately regretted sucker-punching Johnny and tried to apologize for doing so, like punching his friend. Also, after Johnny yells "QUIET," Daniel looks hurt and regretful when he hears Johnny's next words. Speaking of whom, even after that, Johnny chooses not to fight Daniel and sticks with him for the Sekai Taikai. They're not arguing as past rivals anymore, but as partners who struggle to find balance. The writers are showing us that they're learning from their mistakes, but not very swiftly, which makes them more human and realistic.
40 years ago, Johnny pushed Daniel to the ground and kicked him in the stomach, so of course Daniel would sucker punch him. This is a case of Johnny being in the right.
@@chloeeng6811 Yeah but, he should've done a better job at consulting Tory, she was hurting and with the right help, could've stayed with the team instead of breaking off to Cobra Kai 😭
Johnny's emotions for the girl students are amplified this season because he's going to be a father to a girl soon. Also a reason why he's being protective of Devon securing her spot in the Sekai Taikai as she's basically the girl version of Miguel to Johnny.
@@BORRZZ yea but he should also know that fighting when you’re not in the right headspace is dangerous. That’s why Myagi always said that fighting when angry was not the right way. Devon understood Tory s pain after She lost her own like Tory s mother died. Johnny kind of understand Tory s mother died when he lost his mother. If Tory is still with Robby she still has her future father in law Johnny and her future mother in law Shannon.
Daniel was right to stop the fight but it should've been postponed rather than outright cancelled. Fact is that her only issue was that she was dangerous in her state of mind. What she needed was a safe way to work through her grief and then they could have another fight when she was more mentally balanced.

The tragic irony is that this happens just barely after Sam and Tory squashed their beef and start to become friendly and Robby and Tory as a dating couple make the promise to stick together. Then this shit happens.
Johnny was right in wanting to let Tory fight it out but it was a dumb move to say "are you sure about that" when Daniel denied wanting Sam to win because it only reinforced the nonsense that Kreese poured into Tory.
@@NoahChipman-uo7re Hardly. Tory was beginning to take her mom's death out on Sam, and the fact that she kept striking Sam even after scoring a point is proof.
@@NoahChipman-uo7re She probably wouldn't have stopped at just one since she has shown multiple times to be unable to control her emotions. If she pulled stunts like this at the Sekai Taikai, she'll end up doing more harm than good for the team.
Amanda and the Senseis should've properly talked to Tory about the situation first to release Tory from the peak of her emotions privately then give her a chance to fight with Sam again to realign her focus to becoming a captain instead of fighting her life with rage. It felt like Tory didn't have a chance to express her emotions properly which made her walk out of Miyagi-do.
I understand both Daniel and Johnny reason but I had to agree on Daniel and Amanda making the right move to stop the fight because if Tory and Sam keeps fighting. Tory will drag herself building up her own anger violently towards to Sam during the fight. Sam fully agrees anyway when the match was over. I respect Johnny and Daniel ethics of karate but the issue is their methods of teaching karate. Johnny is more of an offense coordinator and Daniel is more of a Defense coordinator. But the mixed emotions they have for Tory symbolizes that this can’t work out that much
Hell no although it stopped and Tory left Miyagi-Do why does Sam deserve the headband? Devon is a runner up let Devon and Sam fight? I’m pissed of that Sam didn’t earn the spot and they didn’t even let Devon get a chance for captain because at the end of the day Sam is the golden child at miyagi-do

I can definitely understand Daniel and Amanda interfering. After everything that happened between Sam and Tory, for Tory to fight her while she was grieving for her mother was making her fight aggressively. That would have potentially harmed Sam the same way as Tory hurt her before in the past.
Sam brought all the pain she got from Tory on herself. Sam started that whole beef with Tory the 1st time they ever met. Johnny saw right through that bullshit stunt. The LaRussos just used someone's death as a golden opportunity for some bullshit "excuse" to fix the outcome of a match for female team captain a position they were never gonna let Tory have. MiYagi being the wanted murder, thief, and liar he was would be so proud. Johnny's smart for planning to be done with the LaRussos after the seikai takai.
@@JT-gl5ou There was no right or wrong answer at this point. As you saw, stopping the fight didn’t help Tory. It only prevented her from possibly hurting Sam, or losing the fight due to her anger. Tory wouldn’t have been happy hurting Sam. She wouldn’t have been happy losing the fight. She wouldn’t have been happy not fighting. Sometimes in life there’s just nothing you can do.
Poor Tory wtf 😭 Daniel worded it wrong but he and Amanda are right. Working through your anger is one thing but it puts Sam in a potentially dangerous situation, and it's not fair to her to be Tory's punching bag without at least knowing what she's getting into. We saw in the match that Tory was having trouble controlling herself, what if she breaks Sam's leg or gives her a concussion? They can fight to determine captain but not today, not like this. And Johnny forgets, Daniel knows what it's like to lose a parent to disease. He got through it because he had someone he could lean on for support in his mom. Tory AND Johnny still need to learn that they have people around them they can trust to look out for them and support them if they would just open up. Fighting isn't always the answer.
everything Johnny said is right. People handle grief differently and Miyagi was no saint. If Tory wanted to fight, they should have respected her choice, instead of making her choice for her.
@metsrus and what about Sam's choice? She didn't sign up to fight Tory in this state. If he wanted to give Tory the chance to fight, Johnny should have offered to fight her himself. Tory can't control herself right now, you SAW her keep going after the point was called. This is NOT an okay arena for that kind of anger release. It doesn't just affect her.

@metsrus and I get what you're saying too. But what if she hurts Sam before Johnny can step in? To me it's not worth the risk. I'm not saying don't let her fight, I'm not even saying don't let her fight Sam for Captaincy, I just think they were right to call a halt until they reevaluated the situation. Daniel was in the wrong just as much as Johnny, he should have told Tory they just needed a minute to talk before continuing the fight, and gotten Sam's okay to keep going. It's a nightmare scenario with no perfect solution, but in my opinion, the best option would have been to discuss the matter in private first, do the fight later once Tory has had a chance to breathe, and let her continue once Sam has a chance to agree to the new emotions in play. Tory is one of the strongest, most powerful fighters in the entire ensemble, she could do something very drastic very quickly if people aren't ready for it.

William Zabka was so good! And this scene is my favorite of part 1! Johnny knew how Tory was feeling... And finally someone said what I was thinking about Mr Miyagi! That was a really good scene and an emotional one! ❤🙌🏻🦅
In fact, no. Quite the opposite. The conflict is far-fetched by itself, they did it simply because they needed it for the dramatic arc, but it' not realistic they antagonized like that after everything they had gone through before
Johnny's kind of holding all the cards this time. Daniel knows Mr. Miyagi had a violent history and that his teachings were not all they were cracked up to be. So knowing this, he should have let Tory continue fighting instead of protecting Miyagi's now-fractured honor.
@@BenJPics9925 Sure... let Tory beat on Daniel's daughter all day long. Do you HEAR what crap you are spewing here? Johnny, as always, is putting the kids in harms way and some of you just applaude him for it.

Everyone's thinking was not flawed, they just want to support Tory. I've been through this exact scenario. Training for a major sports tournament just after multiple deaths in quick succession. My coaches didn't stop me training. And when it came to my national competition, I went and won the whole bloody thing without a single loss. Through my own real world experience, Johnny and Tory had the right frame of mind. The quicker that you can accept what has happened, the better of you shall be as there is nothing you can do about it and ultimately you have to move on.
I do agree that they had the right idea but unfortunately the situation meant that continuing the fight would be putting Sam in danger as tory already proved that she wasn't in control on her last point. There was no easy solution here as they didn't know about tory's mother until it was too late to postpone it
Was your sport a full contract sport as Karate is? The issue here is the damage Tori could do to others, not just herself. Also, Daniel stopped the fight, be he didn't disqualify Tori altogether. He said 'they would find another way to choose Captain.
@fredaf3700 Daniel's wording should've been that they'd reschedule the fight. Tory was made to feel like she was being denied her chance to fight which is what she believed her mother wanted for her

Johnny's "You and I are done" really took me back to Season 1 when Daniel stepped foot in the Cobra Kai dojo and said "You and I... this...we aren't done.." 😭
i REALLY want Johnny to take back Cobra Kai. His influence transformed these kid's lives unlike any sensei in this series so far. He really deserves to be in the spotlight with his own dojo and follow his own path.
For everyone asking why did Amanda get a call…back at the end of season 4 Amanda found a nurse for Tory’s mother so it was most likely the office calling Amanda to let her know what happened. My guess.
The scene was truly intense, Daniel knew about Tory’s mom and refused the fight to go on, afraid that Tory might put her anger on Sam and take things too far.
Johnny was wrong here. He was right when he said that he wanted to go three rounds after his mother died, but that's precisely why he was wrong here. We've seen what Johnny was like with that angry mindset. It's self-destructive. Tory could've hurt Sam or herself. If Johnny really wanted Tory to let off some steam, then he should've just had her wail on a punching bag or fought her himself.
Exactly my point. Aside from that, any normal person like Sam would agree to not fight someone who is grieving. It’s insulting to the person you fighting, and the loved one you lost too.
Fr like don't take ur shit out on me. I get ur grieving but don't fight me while u got that much emotional shit on u that u might see red. i aint ur punching bag to release that shit
I'm sorry for Tory losing her mother, but she was not in the right mindset to take this fight, and she could've hurt Sam, or herself, and for Johnny to not see that, both shocks and appals me. I mean, how can she "work through it", if she puts herself, or Sam in a position, where they could end up missing the Sekai Taikai altogether? How can anyone be blind to that? As for Daniel, he was right to stop the fight, but as a father, not a sensei, and yes he probably does talk too much about Miyagi, but some of what Miyagi teaches is correct, about fighting with an angry heart, and whatnot. And Johnny's favouritism towards Devon is annoying, personally. I think that both Johnny and Daniel need to get their heads out of their own asses, and quick, because if they don't, it's gonna be over before it even begins....
If Daniel thinks Tory is not in the right headspace to fight after losing her mother than he needs to take sometime off from being a sensei until he is down moping around because he found out miyagi in his 20s wasn’t the perfect role mode he was In his 60s
This break up is so sad, but Johnny was wrong. By looking up to hurt her opponent, Tory was not working her pain through as he thought. When you fight with anger you end up doing things you will regret of later, as she would have for sure for hurting Sam. Then, Johnny brings up Miragi, that was low. Daniel was a bit dumb by appealing to Miyagi do, but Johnny was the antagonist from the beginning of the scene
You know... as much as I would have liked for Daniel and Johnny to find some common ground and get along that more than likely will never happen. They are just way too different in far too many ways. But, then again that is life.
yeah shit's gonna hit the fan when Daniel finds out Devon is a cheater. my guess is Johnny's gonna go back to Eagle Fang and take Miguel and Devon with him as his captains (setting up a Robbie/Miguel rematch). Daniel will probably replace devon with anthony... and Kenny will either join Cobra Kai or Eagle Fang... paving the way for a Kenny vs Anthony showdown. also don't be surprised if Hawk or Dimitri switch sides given their feuding.
I can kind of see both sides to the aisle in this situation... Tory's Mom just died & Tory wanted to fight to honor her Mom's memory, which Johnny supported, seeing as how he said he wanted to do just that after he lost his own Mom. The Larussos didn't want Tory to fight as they probably feared her emotions & dealing with all this confusion could get in the way (which can often be seen as more of a bad thing than a good thing) & she could break down or something in the middle of a match, but that's just a theory/guess (whatever term you prefer). But at the same time, Daniel's too keen (I hope I'm using the right term here) on the whole not fighting with anger & other Miyagi-Do stuff that he knows & doesn't understand that not everyone grieves & copes with the loss of a loved 1 in the same manner. Some people isolate themselves, some cry & get emotional, some get angry, sometimes lash out & just need to blow off some steam. The point is there are many different ways that people grieve & cope with the loss of a loved 1. Also, how different would this be if Chozen and/or Mike were here to witness this? Whose side would they be on in this situation?
Rage aside, whether you agree with Daniel’s approach or not, this is a contest to see who becomes Captain for the team. Tory winning/losing before the World Championships would done nothing good for her mental state and ultimately would have affected the team.
Johnny hasnt learned anything yet. He still is a cobra kai in the inside and trying to pass those teachings onto his students unwillingly. He is also jealous of Mr. Miyagi because he is constantly reminded him of his greatness compared to his own misery. He can’t stand someone being so righteous so he tries to find the most minimal flaw in them in order to justify his own plethora of flaws.

@@TheProtagonist37 nobody is perfect, but it doesnt mean there arent better people than other. Miyagi in general was an outstanding role model and that’s undeniable.
I have nothing but deep rooted respect for Mr. Miyagi and everything that he stood for and how he lived his life. Nonetheless, Daniel's biggest downfall during the entire series is his unwillingness to recognize that he needs to be his own man. And he can do that still being able to retain what Miyagi taught him as a younger man. Even Mr. Miyagi told Daniel (Part 3) "one day you do your way." There was a moment (Season 4) when Daniel recognized that, but the whole scenario that spilled out after he discovered the box reinforces the fact that Daniel still hasn't come full circle. And as far as what's in the box...so what. Mr. Miyagi was one of the greats, an outstanding human being. But what he wasn't was perfect. No one is.
Seems this theme is that everyone is off-balance. Johnny unsure of how to provide for his family, Daniel seemingly learning a dark secret to Miyagi’s past & not sure what to make of it, Chozen having unfinished business in Okinawa, Robby tired of being in second, Hawk, Demitri & Miguel uncertain about their futures, Tory losing her mother & being unable to cope, & Devon Lee using underhand tactics to win causing distrust in the Dojo. Making matters worse, Kreese has seemingly shed all his humanity & is now 100% focused. Seems we didn’t get the closure at the end of Season 5 that we thought was finally at hand.
This is all the LaRusso Family’s fault. It they all respected Tory’s decision to keep fighting despite the fact that her mother just died, none of this would have happened in the first place.
