Here in the UK, never seen such a modern PAL Beta machine from Toshiba. They did older models but by 1984, Toshiba weren't selling many Beta (or perhaps any) video recorders in the UK. Sanyo had the lower end Beta market sewn up with models like the VTC-NX10, which has a similar specification to this Toshiba.
I made many recordings on that deck when I was a kid, up until we got our first Hi-Fi Stereo VHS deck. I don’t have this Toshiba anymore, but I do have a couple Sony Betamax Hi-Fi decks now. For a basic model, this was a pretty solid VCR. Only problem ours ever had, was that the loading belt broke.
So far i've binged watched every video :) , I managed to pick up my first Beta machine , Toshiba V-M40 on the weekend .. the power LED and clock display are nice and bright , however i haven't been able to locate any tapes in southern NB will have to order one to see if it works!
Well, I managed to get one which has the working microswitch and which actually threads the tapes, however it won't play. A day after I received it, a thrift store in my area decided to just HAPPEN to get a v-600C as well, but I didn't bother. Now I'm probably gonna post my current model on Reddit, hope you can help!
@@probnotstech Actually just one button. TV/VCR. From my understanding it's to choose the source of the recording signal. From internal TV tuner or from linear AV input. But red light means TV or VCR? Anyway I always like to have an user manual. It's a good read and interesting. Thanks!
Ahh, I see. That switch (TV/VCR) controls the RF output of the VCR. If the LED is off, it's on TV mode. This means the VCR just passes the VHF input directly to the VHF output (antenna goes directly to the TV). It's basically acting as if the VCR isn't there. If the LED is on, it's on VCR mode. This means the VCR is not passing through the antenna signal, and is instead outputting onto channel 3 or 4. Regarding the line in on the back, it automatically switches over when you plug something in.
@@probnotstech Thanks. And it took 10 mins for me to realize how OTR (One touch recording?) button works. Pushing this button you move End of program time for 30 mins every time you push. And then you HAVE to push Timer button. After that recording starts. ))
The only (so far) problem I have is the idler. The rubber surface is pretty worn and rewind is jerky with knocking noise and b/w image even. FF is ok though.
