Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your TOSHIBA L305 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.

I know this video is old and this lappy is from the Cretaceous era, but thanks for this cool instructional vid. I'm trying to resurrect an old L305 (dodgy power jack, I believe), and this really helped. The screws under the top trim piece (north of the keyboard) were the pieces I couldn't find in order to crack this thing open. Thanks!!

yep, CMOS battery is located on the other side of the motherboard. You may need to have some re-soldering to put it back.

I currently own the L305-S5919 model and i plan on upgrading from the celeron585(2.1g) it came with, install a core2duo T7500(2.2g) in its place, add more memory(2gb to 4gb), replace the HDD with an SSD and finally upgrade the OS to WIN7 Ultimate so i can run virtualXP for older programs... this video helps quite a bit, thanks!

It is probably overheating. If cleaning it with compressed air will not help - you may take it apart and clean it more closely, but just make sure you know what you are doing.

Hi, if you removed all screws holding it, anything else isn't important. Ok, case bottom is plastic, so you will need to make sure not to brake it, but if someone use epoxy on it - that will be bad, but you still should be able to remove this hinge.

I think the best what you can do is to ask relatives or friends, maybe someone knows a trusted technician who can take a look. It can be either not working fan or some motherboard problem. Different type of issues...

Hello, there is no way you can access fan from the back, unfortunately. You may still keep monitor in place if you will be able to remove a motherboard - you will see it.

Got one of those laptops for free which has a bad battery and thinking about taking it for basic maintenance but I didn't think they would make this time consuming just for thermal paste replacing.

@@regazzz It's funny I have a Lenovo 1450 that was made around the same time as this laptop but luckily the Lenovo isn't constructed the same way so taking that thing apart is easier. Funny when we got both laptops everyone just wanted to throw them away without putting any effort to see if they still work which after spending $20 for a universal power cord for laptops to find out they just need new batteries but the real reason why I'm fixing them is to have backup laptops because everyone I'm living with aren't the best when it comes to caring for their electric devices where I had my HP laptop since 2013 that still works where their laptops barely last 5 years if lucky.🤣

I know you probably get asked alot of questions, but recently my laptop fan has stopped functioning properly and as a result I frequently have over heating issues. But the peculiar thing is that the fan at times runs as it should, just not all the time, is it something you've seen? Perhaps there is just too much dust I cannot get to?

There is only one screw holding DVD in this Toshiba and it pretty much same on all Toshiba's. So, on 0.41 on the video I am unscrewing this screw and pushing DVD from inside out from a laptop with a tip of my drill. Please tell me what I missed. Thank you very much!

there is no trouble, comments on approval only, so, they will not be visible until approved. this part is not important, it is not for vibration absorbent. I don't remember where it is coming from, but as soon I will check it, I will let you know.

I accidentally broke a ribbon cable (the one with the black tab you have to pull to remove it) I found a replacement for the piece with the track pad so i should be able to fix that. But I can't get the PC to boot up now and it was working great but I just wanted to upgrade the CPU.

Hi I have this lap top and it works fine if its using the battery only but as soon as I plug the power cord to it the screen changes to a dark color that is blank . I tried different power cords and it does the same with all of them . Its like something is shorting out the computer and causes it ti stop and shut down completely when the power cord is connected . I tried connecting the laptop to a external screen but it does the same thing . The power cord charges the battery . What part do you think I need to replace ?

There can be different damages, since it is anyway not working, you can open it up and look that all cables are connected, but if you do not know how they should be, better at least find a friend who knows how to. Have a good luck!

Hi, Thanks for this video. I found it very helpful. One question, if I may. When replacing the motherboard, I took it out to clean the heat sink fins. I found a small rubber piece that looks like it should mount to the chassis, maybe for vibration dampening. Do you know where this fell out from? I've gone over the whole computer closely for over an hour and have watched several videos of folks taking a L305 apart but can't identify the part. Thanks again. Cal

Hi, removing a dust sounds like a plan. And if it isn't help and problem will reoccur - change fan. (at the same point you can also replace a thermal paste) How it will get better!

Probably mouse button is bad. You will need to remove a palmrest and you can find a working mouse button board on ebay or Google it :)

All I want to do is take out the cooling fan because it's no longer working. Do I need to take off the LCD display as well? Btw, I'm having issues finding a replacement fan. Does anyone know where I can get one reasonably priced? My laptop is the L305-S5947. Any help or guidance I can get is greatly appreciated.

+christian david hello, sorry for late response, there is pretty much only one way to get to a fan. I do recommend remember where the screws coming from and remove battery, power supply. Be careful. Have a nice weekend!

Hello Ray lowe , first of all I would connect an external monitor and see what will happen. If you will get a picture on external monitor and nothing flashes, than problem is either in LCD or in inverter (not sure if inverter) If external is good - you will need to choose what to test first. Inverter will be cheaper. If inverter will not help - screen will be next. To test it - don't worry about putting everything back together. Just plug in everything what is need it to power up and see if everything changed or not. Something like that.

Hey, sorry about that, speakers are under the palmrest, they are bolted to it, so I didn't flipped it and speakers were invisible in this case.

Rough in what sense? If he was working with nitroglycerin, yes he would be rough, but considering the fact that laptops are designed to be dropped, kicked, bounced, and sat on multiple times though out it life, he probably could have striped it down with a pry bar and used duct tape to put it back together and it still would work. Analog hard drives are pretty much the only thing that is shock sensitive, but replaced with a solid-state one and you wouldn't believe the abuse laptops can take.
