Toshiba Satellite C870 Laptop Repair Fix - Liquid Damage No Power
Well someone caused some liquid damage to this laptop. Fortunately it wasnt a lot but enough to cause some blown components. Enjoy the little bit different video, since I really never would have thought to fix this laptop!

Some of you asked, what tools I use so here you have a simple list, because I really don't use anything special:
- Soldering Station: YIHUA 982
- Screwdriver: DIAOPROTECT 122 in 1
- Industrial Screwdriver: DC Powered Electric Hand Tools 800
- Hot Tweezers: YIHUA 938D
- Heatgun: Rework Station 858D
- Fume Absorber: COMGROW Fume Laser Absorber
- Flux: AMTECH NC-559-ASM Flux
- Solder Paste: KEK Solder Paste 183
- Solder: Owootecc (Sn99,3 Cu0,7/0,6mm,50g)
- Microscope: YIZHAN 4K 48MP Elektron Digital Mikroskop
- Wuudi engraving tool set

At 3:48 I thought "NOTHING could have prepared you for what you discovered next!" But seriously, congratulations on an unexpected repair! Those must be especially satisfying, even if you don't get video of the whole process.

To be honest I like those kind of situations because they are obvious. If you see a hole in a chip it is definetly blown and dead. Most difficult repairs are if the components are looking fine and you have to find via multimeter or thermal camera whats going on.... Thank you very much! :) It was indeed a very satisfying surprice! :)

I hated disassembling laptops in my old job. So many screws and ribbon cables and every manufacturer puts things together differently 😵‍💫. The short schematic fade-in looked almost like the intro to Airwolf, only the music was missing 😅. Apparently you'll need a bigger place to work soon 😉.

Hah, indeed.... my workspace is getting a littme bit to small for laptops or this generation consoles! But to be fair, this was an 17 inch laptop. Im happy that its working again even tho the keyboard is still a bit broken.

whats mean a hole in the ３V line regulator chip? Mr X? even after translating in to japanese is till couldont make much sense of it so id really like to know what the cause of this failure was!! Mr X!!

It means that the chip was blown (exploded). Something must have caused this hole inside and it are usualy shorts. In this case it was due the liquid damage but sometimes chips like this get faulty be themself. Always feel free to ask if you need to know anything! :)
