Had a similar model for years that died about 4 years back (refuses to power on but I suspect that the HDD has salvageable data) and always wondered how to get into the casing of this guy. Now I know. Thanks!
Very good review, pleasure to watch and listen to someone who is clear and methodical in the review delivery. VERY GOOD Thank you. I looked this up to find out how to open the DVD door, on my Toshiba Satellite L50-B still a mystery now, if anyone knows please enlighten me. Frank in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
+Fussy Lawn Care Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge/advise. This PC can not finf it's own DVD Drive and there is only C drive visable. Although I have a never quit personality, this D dirve seems to be elusive, clearly a Toshiba issue. I will be more careful about my next purchase. I don't need the DVD player.
I have the same laptop - it does not have a dvd drive. The thing you see on the side is a placeholder, a plastic thingy to fill the gap because they used the same chassis as for other laptops which do have a dvd drive.
Yea that's what I ment, sorry :) I have the L50-B-19Q, this one does not have a dvd drive but a plastic placeholder. Other than that the chassis and layout is exacly the same.
Hey, First many thanks for this video! I have an L50-B but without an optical drive, I have a plastique part in there. My question is if I am able to put an SSD-card in to it or do I really have to replace the HDD which I also want to keep? Many thanks for your help and sorry for my English.
Hi ! i'm wondering that whether Toshiba L50-B is compatible with SSD Q300 or not. I've been looking for many SSDs for my laptop, but I don't know which one or which type is suitable. I don't care about whether it is 256GB or 512GB , I just want to know that what kind of SSDs I should pay more attention. Thx
Buenísimo, gracias por compartir tu conocimiento, la pantalla de mi laptop se borra y desaparece la imagen constantemente ... que puedo hacer? No sé si es el flexo o, la caducidad programada, se me a apagado y no quiere encender ! Satellite L50 B 1WP. Espero una ayuda pronta, gracias
one thing i had found out with all the 3 toshibas ive own is they like to shutdown if hot...ive been told its the thermal paste and toshibas are notorious for it
Hello. I bought one of these about 7 months ago in Tesco. Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card at all, or is it best to buy a new computer for that?
Please help me : Question , i have the L55-B Laptop . it's old and on it's death bed . Can i buy the exact same model laptop (newer of course ) and put my HDD inside of the new one and just run like my old one ?
@@BrueComputing so i can just plug and play . thanks for helping me . i have software on it that cant be reloaded because my external HD took a dump . now all i gotta do is find a used L55-B in good shape . if you run across 1 please let me know . thanks Bruce . JJ in Tn
Hello everyone! I'm complete amateur but I'd like to upgrade my laptop's HDD to SSD with windows 11 pre-installed. I have the same model as they have in this video. Will I kill my computer if I upgrade the SSD that will have windows 11 on it, or will it run? Thank you so much for your answers
Great video! I have a question: I own a model toshiba satellite l50-B 1DM, and i want to replace a palmrest/upper cover (A000296070), are all models compatible? for example i buy some other's l50-b palmrest uppercase part.
your l50 comes apart easy ive taken all the back screws out pryed along the sides with a fair amount of force it aint budging its like theres top screws hidden somewhere the only way to get to them is to remove the keyboard some how do you know whats going on its a sattelite l50 looks exactly like yours but its got a huge back plate to expose the hd which is not a problem i need to replace the paste
I have this same model laptop, it has a weird problem. It wont turn on when I press the power button but when I flip the laptop after i press the power button it turn it self on. What could be the reason of this. It's like button wont work unless I flip the thing.
please can you recommend a ssd to upgrade to. also is there anything else worth adding or upgrading while im at it. if so please can you provide links to parts
hi. can i replace the wireless card ? (Intel Wireless Dual Band ac-3160) . bcoz suddenly the wifi weaks when receiving wifi signals . almost 1bar at all . i did nthing wrong in this laptop . so i dont know what actually happen . what do you think ? the wifi antenna or the adapter itself ?
The video cable going from my motherboard to the lcd screen shorted out and now the laptop won't power on. Is there an internal fuse for the L50-B? I can replace the video cable, but that's not much use if the unit will no longer boot up. Thanks
+rcgflatulator I don't know I'm afraid. I'd probably start by just removing the battery and A/C connection and leaving it for a while, but it could be the board has been damaged electrically.
Its my laptop im watching this on the toshiba L50D ...great laptop..it has served me well over the years and the graph card installed in it and runs nearly every game comfortably ... but it has a hinge failure which needs repair on these laptops as they are Fllimsey constructed by Toshiba... I think the heat coming out of it loosened the internal parts resulting in the failure.... your model has a removable battery well aren't you lucky...LoL.. mine dosen't for a L50... Black is the D... I also have a L50A which is white A..I am currently having cooling issues at the moment...I have bought a bucket of arctic cooling paste ...Because i ran out of mint cold fresh toothpaste......any upload how to do the paste sir?.
@Arsenic Pills i use my black one everyday for the last 6 six years and is going great still even with the fucked hinge ...i never took it in for repair am still waiting to get it done myself i dont trust any one with any pc ...being so i wouldnt take my worst enemy's pc in either.... so i will attempt to fix the screw holes which have been stripped but must tear it down to do it...im addicted to using it and hard too find a day to put it down to do it ...i also got the paste to replace as well and as general clean BTW the battery has been dead for 3 years now might as well chuck in a fresh one also ...to do all this in a shop it would cost me more than the thing itself
+Christopher Mohabir If it has a single DIMM currently then you can just add a second stick. If it already has two DIMMs then you can replace them both.
Hi, great video! But I have a question. Is it possible to install a SSD in the CD Drive bay? Because i don't have the CD drive only a plastic cover to hide the empty bay.
+RaptorCandy Yes, if you install a caddy like this you should be able to install an SSD or HDD in to the optical bay: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LIQOOB6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00LIQOOB6&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwbrue0a-21
+Bianca Kim If you remove the heatsink from the CPU then I'd replace the thermal paste, but if you just remove the fan then I wouldn't say it is essential.
DDR3-1600 module like this should do the trick: amzn.to/2a4CtMv I'd probably fit a second 4GB module though, particularly if you play games as balanced memory configurations are a bit quicker typically.
Help?? Hi guys. Original toshiba hd failed on my L50-B-1DZ a while ago and I'm looking to replace it with a new one; my question may sound silly but where is the os stored on this baby? Will I lose my windows 10 by replacing the hd? Thank you
The hard drive has Windows 10 on it, so you'll have to do a clean Windows 10 install on to the replacement drive. The Windows 10 license is stored digitally and linked to the mainboard, so it should activate online after the install if you have a legitimate Windows 10 license from an upgrade.
+Brue Computing Thank you for taking the time to answer me. In fact, I took it to the maintenance. The laptop always shows the error of the cmos battery but it seems the motherboard itself is defective. My little daughter spilled lots of water on it three months ago. Though the computer was miraculously mended by my friend, it has become now defective. It used to turn off without notice. It seems to have been some defective chip that heats up faster because of a short circuit or the like.
+Péter OLáh-Kátai Yep, as you can see at 3:54 onwards the plate is attached with 4 screws around the CPU - undo those and you should be able to lift out the plate, heatpipe and heatsink to clean it.
Where is the COMS in this model. I changed the BIOS setting and Now it does not boot up! I checked RAM and Hard drive are ok. The power botton lights up but black screen. I thought reset the BIOS manually!
could you please provide me the download link of the driver software of this model,I have tried toshiba website but the bluetooth driver is not working
hey guys, after changing my hdd i have lost my sound on the computer. nothing is working. no sound from my laptop!! does anyone know what could be the reason and how to fix it? thank you
+William Morris Its soldered down with about 950 solder balls underneath, so not a chance! The equipment to do it would cost many many times more just buying a better laptop.
just found 10 million screws under the keyboard your upload has failed to show that the base cover does not come off that easy...i would scrutiny anything further you mention after that
Its stupid how these hard drives are plugged into the board..I have a family members no boot device found i guarantee its come loose stupid how its kept in place with rubber.
+Madam Alatiel To force the drive to open just use a paper clip to press the little emergency eject button (the small pinhole on the drive cover). To remove the drive from the laptop just undo the screw in the base of the laptop and then slide the drive out, as per the video.
