Thank you for your interest in the channel. I'm glad to hear you find the videos to be entertaining and informative. I like producing and editing videos, just want to do less of a vlog format
There is that, but there are some amazing staycation spots, and places like Shangri-la, or the grand Hyatt that are a cut above the rest. Something to be said for luxury and the attention to all of the small details.
If you stay in Manila for more then a month isn’t better to rent a condo for 300€ per month rather then paying 20€per night every night for a month. Just common sense
I kind of like the Leez inn, for best price and comfortable low key accommodation. But St. Giles, Or Makati palace have amenities, room service, restaurants, pool and gym. Not a great gym, but depends on what you want. I rarely eat in hotels, but some people like the convenience.
Great info! This is what I need. MPT look great, and expensive. Makati Palace looks old but very nice depending on surroundings. A gym is super important. Gym with AC! Great info.
The nicer, newer spots are Coro, I'M hotel, and City Garden Grand. The Palace is older but decent, I've heard the gym isn't great. It's right on P. Burgos which some would say is a great location. And others maybe not so much.
Great video, Eric. I am sure this is helpful content to all of us. I always wondered what the Makati Palace hotel looked like inside, and how much it charged. I always saw a streetview of it on RU-vid.
Glad it was helpful, this is an example of a video I make for RU-vid subscribers. Most of the content I produce because It's fun. And I like the idea of a video memoir.
Coro is one of the new ones, I could see the pool, roofdeck from another building, it looked nice, I hear good things about it, good location, but I've never been there.
Fantastic airiel shot and finger pointing to where Neon Nights on Burgos, and the side street where The Social and Wicked Dogs are located! I never knew before.
It helps to get an idea how close everything actually is. Sometimes I walk around, like thr top 20 bars video. All those bars are within like 3 or 4 blocks, but you don't really get sense how it's all walking distance.
@@johnclark7973 Eric will elaborate I’m sure but when I stayed at Red planet, my guest had to show ID and register. This was also for my safety to ensure nothing was stolen, money, passport etc. It seemed totally harmless and without judgment. Hope that helped.
Thanks for this and all you do! You’re videos are so informative. Was just there last week from Cali! Pobla was lit! I think I saw you at Buccaneers too, but wasn’t quite sure
You are welcome, thanks for watching and letting me know. Pobla was pretty jumping last week. And It's very likely I was in buccaneers, we usually stop in, and occasionally hang there.
Well. I would have to say I saw some insects at the bel-air, maybe not infested, but disappointing. The other spots were all pest free. But even nice, high end BGC and Makati condos have insect problems here. It can be hit, or miss.
Depends on your length of stay. And what type of experience do you want. For long stays, I prefer a condo, a bigger refrigerator, kitchen, nicer gym, and pool, but no maid service . Some people want maid service every day. At this point, I would say after lockdown, some condos are still stupid with policies. The hotel will be less of a hassle.
I stayed at the Oxford Suites in February this year and your right, huge rooms. The location is excellent for nearby things of interest. If I ever decide to return, I'll probably stay there again.
How safe, do you feel, are the hotel and condo room safes? Have you ever heard of money or valuables that ever came up missing while the occupant was gone from the property?
Great video as usual Eric I have always been interested in the Makati palace especially sense I found out you can own a condo there ! I think that is so cool.
Thank you, glad you appreciated the video. It's a good location and not bad for an older building. That is a cool option, there are many opportunities for newer, nicer condos in that same area.
Hi thanks for making this video. Very informative indeed! I learned a lot! I’m looking for a hotel to stay a night in Makati, my flight is the next morning back to Japan for another week of vacation before going back home to the USA. I heard Makati is not too far away from the airport. We’d like to get some Manila exposure even just for a day. Although we’re not going to Philippines till April 2024, I’m a planner and always plan in advance. Would you recommend that I book now from the States or wait till I’m actually in Philippines? We would be in Cebu before heading to Manila. I will also need a hotel with a washer and dryer. Is there any you could recommend? Any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated!
I'm glad to hear you found the video helpful. It is always good to have accommodations booked before you arrive. But it will be cheaper if you book from Cebu vs. the US. A dryer is going to be a tall order to fill. Maybe a suite in the I'M hotel?? It won't be cheap. But laundry service is insanely cheap here. There are many same day wash, dry, and fold services within walking distance of all these hotels in the video. It's like $6 for 8 kilos. My advice is to skip the washer/dryer. Dryers are terrible here. Most of them just spin.. no heating coils.
@@itsManilaBaybeeThanks a million for your advice!! Truly appreciate it. Will do just that! Now my next challenge is where to book in Cebu near the airport and a nice beach. Since we’re only going to be there for 3 nights we don’t have the luxury of time to spare on long commute. Wish me luck. And a million thanks again for your speedy response and great suggestions!!
I'm not really a Cebu guy, I only backpacked it for a few weeks. But I don't think there are many beaches "near" Cebu city. Near is relative in the Philippines, most beaches are at least a 2 to 4 hour bus ride from the city. You could cut that time down with a private car/grab/taxi. I'm trying to find my friends other YT channel - He lives in Cebu. I have only taken boats to Cebu, not sure about the airport. One of his channels: www.youtube.com/@Breavis
Ritz Astor used to b ok great staff just as with most hotels rooms not huge and no balcony, but did really like city gardens hotel 😊nice pool and restaurant on the roof with good views ☺️
Certainly some very reasonable places to stay at good prices----even some great deals to be had on condos around Century City at the Knightsbridge, Milano & Gramercy----always my jump off area when I fly into Manila
MPT suites is the place I’ve always stayed. Although they’ve done it up significantly since I was there in 2018. Thanks for showing. Bel air looks good for price.
Glad you found it helpful. I like both of those hotels. Just remember to book a double occupancy room so you are free to have a guest over. St. Giles is more of a proper hotel eith a pool, restaurant, rood deck and gym. Leez has no amenities, but it's super close to Kanto freestyle, which is the best deal for breakfast or lunch in Makati.
@flight_madness No, could be twin beds, queen, or king size. It's the room rate that is single or double occupancy. Guests will often have to show ID to get in... but I've had multiple guests in both of those hotels without showing ID. Just walk in like you belong there, and they usually don't say anything. Especially when it's early, and the hotel amenities/restaurants are still open.
Thanks for all the videos, how is the City Garden Grand Hotel Makati? Does it allow guests? I just want to make sure that my GF can visit without me needing to get her from the lobby.
It's nice. Clean, modern, nice roofdexk and amenities. And you can have guests, no problem. But the elevator needs a key card. So, register her. And Get an extra key card.
Is that scouse accent I recognise from your buddy from MPT suites?! Lol, some good recommendations there. I’ll be over from Liverpool myself next year … once I get South America out of my system , been hitting medellin and Rio recently
Red Planet was always the first place I checked. Good price, near the restaurant/bar scene without being in it.. and a decent sports bar ground floor open all day with wifi for some coffice time. Like that Soho kitch setup and Auckland looks great for a budget BGC pick.
That's right, the shooters sports bar is open 24/7. Forgot to mention that. Auckland was super cheap for BGC, but technically it's in Makati. There is a My Town BGC in uptown though.
@@itsManilaBaybee yeah it's a shame. I started staying there about 5 yrs ago and the first couple of times it was awesome and in a great position but since it's been hit and miss. Last time the room they gave me hasn't been cleaned yet, walked into the room with junk and the sheets on the floor
If you don't like roaches in your room, stay away from Bel Aire and Makati Palace. Makati Palace also has terrible customer service. I usually stay at Oxford Suites which is an older hotel but clean, not expensive and the staff is very professional.
Oxford is pretty good. For the call center capital of the world, customer service is in short demand almost everywhere, I'm sorry to say. People are often kind here, but they have almost no power to affect anything. They can't operate outside the constrictions they are forced to conform to. Hotels have no valet service and somehow get rated 5 stars. Thanks for sharing your perspective
Yes, but most rooms are only 2 person capacity. So that's one guest. You could have multiple guests, just not at the same time. Guests will need to show ID to get in.
If you look a bit more closely, you will see I Titled each room with the price range you will find on agoda. And at a few points, I recall did mention it.
It's Worse than that, read the whole bill. Go to congress.gov and contact your rep and tell them f*ck that noise. Also support the H.R.1122 - CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act
If I was with a group of guys and we decided to stay there, well you go with the flo. Alone I'd be concerned with security of possible electronics ie tablets or laptops left there. Possibly my own security. LOL!
I should have noted which hotels have safes and which don't. It's a very safe area. The only thing you might have to worry about is being too drunk with the wrong girl. I'm amazed at how many guys "lose" their wallet, cash or phone when they have a visitor.
Good question, and offhand I don't know. There probably are some, but I don't think any of these are (except maybe bel-air soho) because they also do leasing there.
