I sail-paddle-pedal my Hobie i12s in the cold salt waters of the Pacific Northwest. I bought a rechargeable battery pump that inflates and sucks the air out of the hull. I take the wheel set with me, tied to the back of the chair, in case I want to land on a wild beach and pull the boat up away from the tide. I wear a wet suit and a multi-pocketed PFD. I have a self-rescue sling and a paddle float in case I end up overboard. This hasn't happened yet. I will turn 78 next month, and I find I'm just not strong enough any more to easily launch the boat over our rough wild beaches. If it weren't for that, I would keep kayaking I'm not going to sell my Hobie. I have cleaned it, put a preservative coating on it, and packed it and its accessories up. I will keep it until someone I know will love it as much as I do asks for it. Then I will give it away.

I have a hobie i14t, and use a Santa Fe car to transport. So mine would take a little more room up in the car then yours . I have no trouble fitting the hobie cart in my car, and don't take the wheels off it. ( and my cart has the balloon pump up tyres for sand), so bigger then the basic cart. One thing the sand tires make the kayak harder to pull along, then standard wheels, but better to give the kayak a little suspension to protect the scupper mounting holes.

Yo, spend the $15 to get one of those small electric pumps that plug into your cigarette lighter. It will do 80% of the inflation for you and can deflate the kayak down to nothing. Open the valve, inflate, close off the valve and finish off with the Hobie hand pump. I have the i12s and it works great for me. I also have the right set of wheels and they work great, too, even in deep sand. Hang in there, education is expensive.

I tried the Hobie inflatable kayak at a demo day. The sail and cart are different sizes. I bought a inflatable Sea Eagle Sport and a Hobie Revolution. Love both of them! I take the cassette out and leave it in my car, as I know that I'll lose it. I have the Hobie sand cart and a $24 strap on cart from Academy.

Enjoyed your video. You seemed very comfortable on this boat. How did you end up liking this kayak after having it for a while. I am looking at this one and the i11s as something easily transported, but they are pricey.

they do. if you look when he has got the kayak upside down. there are small holes either side of the pedal mount. the cart goes in there. the one he bought was for one of the hard shell kayaks. much bigger tubes and wider spacing.

I have the larger 14t. I can get 2 people. a fish cooler. a storage box. 2 folding camp seats, a folding table . a tent. 2 sleeping bags. a water carrier. stove fishing rods sail. electric motor fish finder and can travel on public transport. what more could you want.
