The main villain is PAPA MUERTE but in the game finale We did not kill him. This is a solid proof that there was planned to be a sequel. But the developers, i.e. Deadline Games got bankrupted in 2009.

Back in 2009/10 there was a Total Overdose II listed in IGN, named Total Overdose 2: Tequila Gunrise but it never came out or there was no information about the game after that because the developer Deadline Games was closed down because of the bankrupcy. Because of this we also missed a great looking under development game named Faith and a .45

They were gonna make it actually, it was gonna be called "Total Overdose: Tequila Gunrise" but it got cancelled due to bankruptcy I think

Thanks for covering this, just one correction: total overdose is a danish game because it is made by a danish company, not mexican, just the story is set in mexico.
