Great tool. Especially for Florida DOC. Last time I was in we had tobacco and weights. Now they dont have that, so that tablet really helps keep inmates occupied, intouch, and connected to the outside.
@@bloodykisses80 sorry for the late response. RU-vid is terrible at notifications. I know in Florence the have the Securus tablets There’s an app for Android … so “stamps “ for regular texting are $5 for 20 stamps - 90 stamps is $20 You can do video visits ( i video chat with my guy 3x a week ) thur Securus those sessions are $5 for 30 mins. Sending video clips cost 4 stamps …pictures 1 stamp per picture.
I think this is a great idea. If you have never been incarcerated, you won't understand how extreme boredom with no outlet quickly leads to extreme stress and tension between people. There's a reason why psych wards have games, books, coloring pages, etc. You need an outlet otherwise people who are already on edge get pushed over the edge.
A multiple reinforcer, just as money is. And one full of meaning and opportunity. No dubt a powerfull tool in shaping good inmate behavior. It sounds like Europe, every general population inmate having accces to a tablet regularly. This is good stuff. Hopefully we´ll have something like this in my country one day.
Gema Melendez I think it is avalible at brunswick work center/prison... You have to buy it for $50 and I don't know that it has the ability to call, but you can pay to send emails to them on the tablet... I would recommend googling "jpay" and seeing if the specific VADOC location has them avalible...
If I had a tablet I am not being punished anymore I am just not in the real world all I miss is real women which stands for 40% of a man's mind with free will

Search here for Norway and Sweden prisons. They do prisoner rehabilitation right . Less than 7% return to prison. Seriously. The USA is dead wrong on how they deal with prisoners. The 78% return rate says that loudly.
I'll be honest, I really don't like the idea of giving inmates more privileges and greater comforts. It's pretty hard to break the thinking that jail or prison needs to be a place of punishment and reflection. However I can't ignore that the system is completely broken in it's current form. Recidivism is so high, and prisons are so overpopulated experiencing constant crime that I have to admit that maybe it's not a bad idea to at least try and give inmates more privileges and comforts and just see what happens. If the saying goes "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" then what do you say if it is broken.
Look up vids here on prisons in Norway and Sweden. They have roughly a 7% return to prison because they treat all prisoners (even murderers etc) like humans and rehabilitate them. USA just locks them away til they grow more hate then get out and are denied jobs, food, shelter. Then they return because that's the only shelter, job, food they can get. The USA sucks for rehabilitation of prisoners. With an over 78% return rate, it's definitely beyond broken. The tablets have brought attempted suicide to a near complete stop. Fights between inmates are 75-80% stopped. Inmates get school now via tablet, etc. It's a start down the proper rehabilitation path. I hope we will become like Norway and Sweden. They're doing it right.
Bringing back the chain gangs and corporal punishment would definitely be an improvement! In addition to making conditions as harsh on the inmates as humanely possible. A prison term should NOT be a vacation! It should be time to be PUNISHED!
As both a Norwegian and a former inmate, I don't agree with you. First of all, your numbers aren't correct. Measuring those numbers are very difficult and the results will vary vastly. In theory you can make what ever number you like. But claiming there is only 7% retun rate overall is way off, no matter how you measure it. I've been in both low security prisons and in maximum prisons. The big difference is that you can interact more with other inmates in low security prisons. But you get way more service and support in max prisons. I had my own bathroom with tiles, my own TV, my computer (no internet, though), books, newspaper and literally all I want. In some prisons you can even have your spouse or gilrfriend visiting in your cell. You can even get free education like a bachelior degree. Free dental care. Free healthcare, medicine and what ever you needed. I even had the guards go shopping for me once every week. I got about $6 a week (25 years ago). Pleace, just search norwegian prisons. They're real and is just a vacation. There was literally no punishment for me. I even ask the guards to lock my cell 24/7 as I wouldn't interact with murderers and other low life criminals. To me prison was nothing. But I never went back. It was not the "rehabilitation" that kept me from returning to jail. It was me being a father twenty years ago.
