when i first tried this game i didnt have a clue what i was doing. even losing easy battles in the prologue lol. jumped on warhammer total war(total gamble) and love it. now ive learned a ton of stuff. installed atilla again yesterday and its so much easier :) now i can enjoy it.
How is that the developer not seeing this? They keep adding more and more BORING mechanics to these games. How is managing the family fun? I attempted to play 3 kingdoms, it starts well but as the tutorial progresses they keep adding more and more crap to manage - screw that, I have a life.
Thank you so much for explaining everything in details. Tho, it did pass several months from release of this video, I believe not that much has changed.
The "power bar" is balanced between your dominion (over your faction) and control (ditto) as well as various other factors including politics, military prowess and so on.
Ah okay thanks. I have just gotten into a scenario where the other generals have way more influence than my family.but now i will try to adopt a few of then
Adopting is a good option as they can help enlarge your family. Also think about marrying a daughter to them also. IIRC (sorry haven't played this for a while), you can also use you wives skills to reduce the generals influence etc. If you have a crappy general you don't like there is also the assassinate option, though this is a last resort.
it's a long video... but good and detailed... I still find it very confusing... and 1 question wich you didn't mention in this video wich I don't understand and maybe you can explain... is how does loyalty work and how can you raise it... I'm playing as the Western Roman Empire... and I'm loosing one general (and his army) after another because of low Loyalty... I've spend much time building up armies only to fight them because one after another rebels... and I don't have the influence to "secure loyalty"... wich is really frustrating... I'm spending more time fighting my own amries then I am conquering the map... and once I finaly manage to get that rebel armie('s) defeated the next ones rebel... This politics made me really start to hate the game... So what can I do to get better Loyalty???
I came from Total war 2 and attila just feels like great battel but super complexity diplomacy and family tree and te buildings are always going down in happiness. Why do we have to manage to much shit?
i need help about the Governors, how do we take over more territory, when we are limited with governors, im only allowed 6. do i stop taking over, or turn the new territories in to vassal states. or is there another way increase the Governors?
Unfortunately you have to move them about. I tend to specialise my governers a bit. Have one that maximises your income and keep that governor in your highest income region, same for troop production bonuses. Then have a couple that help with public order and move these guys where you need them.
What does it mean when characters are connected by a golden arrow, like on the right in the Geat family tree? sorry if you answered it in the video I didn't catch it xD
+Josh Lamb Iirc its a legitimate child. I know red is an illegitimate child but tbh I dont actually think it makes much difference unless you change your Heir.
Hempknight79 thanks for the answer. I thought normal legitimate children had a white arrow though? Gold could be adopted I think. I just like to put a bit of a story into my politics so I am curious :) Nice video btw
What I want to know is if I can marry the kings daughter to someone in the family that are not entirely realited like an adopted character. How do i get the kings daughter to marry my general to be in my family tree?
When the kings, or family members daughter is old enough to marry she will start accruing influence. When the daughter builds enough influence she will get the marry option. You can then select anyone from the other nobles and attempt a marriage that way. This is a good way of bringing other nobles into your family if you want to save influence on your characters for other things, as adoption can start to get pricey and can also have a negative effect on your loyalty.
Isn't your percentage of power just the average of your dominion and control percentage? Like, in your example, 66% power is the average between 72% dominion and 60% control. (60+72=132, 132/2=66).
+snowieken Yes I would imagine that is how its worked out. I never really looked at the calculation needed to effect it. I always just worked out the easier way to lower or raise it if needed. Its actually quite an easy thing to manage and you can quickly tell at a glance how to lower or raise your overall power.
+Hempknight79 Yeah, didn't really give it much thought either until you posed the question in your (excellent, by the way) guide. I went to check it, and most of the time power seems to be simply the mathematical average of dominion and control. There are a few cases where it doesn't fit, which confused me a little, but it seems to work out correctly after starting a new turn.
Can u make a video on how to deal with Bastards? Like 90% of my family tree is just packed with them. I tried to assassinate kids LOL but for some reason even though it allows you to click on them with the assassination option they don't die untill they reach adult age. (I'm not cersei lannister killing baratheon bastards) :D i also hate the fact that there is no family name! like in Medieval 2 you had atleas't a family name!
Well, bastards could be legitimised or treated like legitimate offspring (children born out of noble births). There's no penalty for bastards that I know of.
+richard witt Not really. You can put whoever you want in any of the offices. However, some of the offices have bonuses that are better for a governor than they would be for a general and vice versa.
Another guide that does not guide. You should try to use an outline. Before you try to teach or explain something. Your video should be called tips and tricks. It is really not a guide about how to manage your family is it? But thanks anyway. I did learn some useful things.
Stupid fucking CA always putting mysteries in their games. It gets worse with every release. Can't even imagine Warhammer. I have to assume they even hide total unit counts in the UI for your armies at this point!
Warhammer is actually dumbed down quite a bit. No family tree and no time mechanic. There is virtually no faction management at all and your Generals stay the same age for the whole campaign.
Arch Deluxxe Yeah, it still hasn't been discounted low enough to convince me to buy it yet either, haha. I hear more bad things than good about that game from vets.
