You're right about the difficulty in battles. Especially if you're on a mobile phone with a small screen. Your fingers can easily block your view of the battlefield and units.
I sunk hours upon hours on RTW when it came out on mobile. Battles are okay once you understand what you need to do but it’s very finicky at first, I agree.
at first i struggled, but after an hour or so I had the controls down fine. I frequently have 20v20 battles with reinforcements with much enjoyment and no issues. How can you have any problems when you can issue orders when paused? even the biggest noob can coordinate even the largest battles.
I bought Medieval 2 for my Android tablet and played a couple unintentional all night campaigns while I was lying in bed trying to sleep (this didn't help at all). Even though it runs perfectly I'd much rather play it with a mouse and keyboard. It's a nice alternative for when my computer isn't available though.
Just to clear up any confusion. The mobile port of medieval II has full keyboard and mouse support. I play the game on a Tab s7+ with the type cover and a Bluetooth mouse and it works smoothly.
Me too, it's a great experience! I love the high def portaits and unit icons and other improvements. I really dislike the med2 PC UI, it's aged poorly on modern resolutions
Could you describe how mouse and keyboard control is like on these? Are you still using thr new user interface, just clicking with mouse instead of pressing fingers?
@@GotHoai Pretty much like on PC. Keyboard commands are the same (for as far as I have tried). The bluetooth mouse, again, functions like you would use it on PC. Except for one thing and that is the mouse selection of units is a bit different as it follows the way you use the touch mechanics to select units. It takes like 5 minutes to get used to. Console commands are fully in the game and can be accessed through touch or standard keyboard commands (for me it is the tilt key).
Completetly disagree with this video. The controls are excellent. Obviously giving orders is going to be slower on a touch screen. All you have to do is use pause.
I must say I disagree on the battles, they can be finicky and when I’m bouncing around in the train to work my lines go a bit wrong 🤣, but overall I don’t have any major problems, I just pause now and it’s manageable. Also I tend to use the deselect all button quite a bit, when swapping units, as sometimes the smart select just doesn’t work! Keep up the good work though Mr T!
I can't agree with you at all on the battle controls. You can easily learn the controls and actually use them very well versus the original games on PC. But what's more important to note is that you can simply use a keyboard and mouse and connect your phone to your TV, effectively making it no different than the originals on PC. I actually prefer the touch controls over this having gotten used to them. Double tapping, pinch zooming, rotating the screen etc and selecting and moving troops etc is all straight forward. On my Xperia 1's 6.5 inch screen I find it more than sufficient to play with great results.
I cannot disagree more about Battles on Mobile phones. Me and my brother both actually prefer the touch screen controls. The camera is not "janky", it's precise af. You have multiple ways of selecting units. You can zoom out far enough to see the entire battle.
I've noticed a few more tricky things that set back battles, is no longer having the option to double click a single unit to select all similar units. Click dragging to select multiple units rather than individually clicking one by one is tedious always. Toggle melee for skirmish units without a keyboard they included melee option after fire at will. Many desert archers lost their lives before I figured that one out. I'm going to try the mouse app next to see what features make the game closer to desktop variation. All in all, I tend to avoid vh/vh for now m/m for my first playthrough as the Moors???? Huh??? So random, so good. Style points for the stylist but sometimes fingers come in handy 😉
I've sunk countless of hours into Rome and Medieval 2 back in the day. These games were simply legendary. Might pick them up on Android to play some campaigns on the go, not sure tho.
Ive been playing both mobile games for years and never played any other mobile games except for minecraft. There are settings in the games that can help with your controls. I play on a Iphone 7 with huge unit settings and I always had good fps and never frustrated with gameplay.
If feral does remaster Medieval II I would be perfectly happy with basic QOL improvements, I still like the remaster of Rome even if it isn't that popular. After all who knows when creative will actually release a new historical TW? maybe by 2024 lol I don't play any games past Rome 2 and recently I've found myself just sticking with Rome/Medieval 2 more than any other.
rome total war mobile is my first total war i ever played. in first gameplay i so enjoy both campain and battle,i spend hour and hour to play this game. but i very agree whit you whit screen problem when come to battle,i must turn on slow speed to see conditions of the battle field, the control is better in pc when i compare whit pc version,is kinda hard and buggy sometime, especially in siege battle,is so frustrated to set up formation of the unit in the chokepoint.but overall is very good game and i hope in the future another total war series can be port to mobile.
I have space Rome and mediaeval on my iPad. I enjoyed them both. But the bottom line for me is mediaeval has nice graphics and more colour variation. But I find Rome better to play even though it’s simpler especially when it comes to battles sometimes I get confused in Medieval what’s happening with the ordinance.
4:20 that is exactly what I thought-the mobile versions are only worth playing if you do not play battles manually. They were not made to work on such a small screen and with your fingers:D
If you're bothered about tapping, then just Bluetooth your wireless mouse to your device, can do the same with xbox/ps controllers through Bluetooth if you wish..
Written December 18, 2022 “The point of mobile games is a quick bit of fun; a little time invested for a a lot of reward and unfortunately both Rome 1 and Medieval 2 often little reward when it comes to battling these signature total war battles” yes, The point of Mobile game is to offer a quick bit of fun BUT These two games in this video are not Mobile games but “PC” games made to replicate the feel of a traditional PC in a mobile device PC games, especially real time strategy games, have a degree of gameplay battles and size that cannot be properly played on a console and Since a mobile device is literally a in pocket PC(I think Android even allows you to customize the internals of the phone too)then these two games are Made and can quite literally be played on mobile. As a quick little side theory: since PC and mobile are interchangeable from one another, doesn’t that mean that most PC games, which are already configured to cope and keep playing under many multitasking options of the PC(accidental web pop up, accidental notification, accidental calls ect) would also work on mobile far better than their console equivalent would simply as mobile can do the same as PC? Heck, You can even hook up a keyboard and mouse to the mobile device and use it As a traditional PC, but that’s more for mobile tablets than mobile phones as tablets are basically the same size as a PC is screen size. I would say the main concern would be battery life on a mobile device but both a mobile device and PC do not need a constant power supply such as an outlet to play either platform as both their batteries are rechargeable and come with an optional power adapter for constant connection to an outlet for unlimited battery charge Your video just spurred this observation in me but the topic was interesting to discuss. Next I hope Feral brings Empire to mobile and if they keep up the 6 year gap from Rome in 2016-Medieval in 2022, then in 2028 they will port it to mobile(fun fact mobile Tablets are generally much more powerful than mobile phones are in all areas so Empire could quite literally be played on any latest Tablet in this 2022 year, but we gotta wait for phones with their cramped sized internals to catch up to current 2022 tablets..and by then better tablets will come out)
Thank you for this review. It clearly outlined things about the game that made me decide not to purchase it. I appreciate a critical review that makes me understand exactly what I'm getting and not getting instead of "selling" me the game.
@@secure5988Doing that right now because the game is not supported on my phone. Still the game works perfectly on my phone, in the future I'll definitely buy one when I have a suitable phone.
Even though this video was made a year ago, there’s things about the game that he says they’re not technically true. And it is well worth the money for medieval2. Nostalgia at the fingertips is the best part. And as far as it goes as mobile strategy games, it is one of the best.. it doesn’t even feel like some 2D wonky pay to win mobile game😂
Written December 2022 @ arkos6433 Empire is vastly graphically superior in visuals and map size compared to medieval 2 or Rome thanks to its new TW 3 engine. It’s also a PC only game so it’ll need to be heavily modified to work on mobile… as Rome and Medieval did Empire will come to mobile as Feral's 3rd Total war game in 2028 if they keep the 6 year gap from Rome 1-Medival 2 (Tablets like the iPad M1 and similar android Tablets can already play Empire natively as of 2021 thanks to their bigger size, voltage and heat dissipations but we gotta wait for the tiny cramped phones to catch up so EVERY mobile device can play..)
I freaking love it and I hope I'm next phone they release shogun one or three kingdoms for order to be the phone needs to be high tech that' supports total war games
I wholeheartedly disagree with the complaints about the battles. I play on mobile with both touch controls and keyboard/mouse and I only had issues when I first started. After an hour or so I had no issues with the controls. Maybe the IOs version is more janky than android?
Uhmm.....What I do everytime I do Something Large is I Always Pause the troops will Follow the Path you designate them you just had to manually press if you want them to run or just walk
Hey Termi, I have an off topic comment/suggestion for you. I'll first share the problem and then ask if you would consider doing videos to bring the solution. The problem is that there are so many good mods out there, but many of them are still in development, so I don't always know when a good time to play the mod is--should I wait a little longer for a big update, etc. I think if you were to make periodic videos where you highlight a mod or several mods to suggest that now is a good time to play this or that particular mod. Just an idea :) Thanks for all the great videos!
In my opinion the campaign works perfectly on mobile and the battles are painful on a phone, I don’t know how they are on an iPad or something. I started playing total war with Rome on mobile(I didn’t had a pc at the time), I came very late to the franchise but at least Rome 1 was my first TW game and made me fall in love with the franchise.
I’ve always wanted to play this but never had a PC that could run it. How would this play on IPhone 14 Pro Max? Also, is it close to PC or is PC that much better?
Dostum merhabalar, bazı yorumlarda Türk olduğun yazıyor, gerçekten öyle mi? Öyleyse gerçekten çok gurur duyarım, öyle değilse bile başarılarının devamını diliyorum. You sir have my respect..
Could you please make video about how to install 1100 ad from stream and give mod launcher links in your discription, I have downloaded mods but it won't work with mod launcher could you please help
Re-order them both to the top of your mod manager so it looks like: Part 1 Part 2 They must be placed at the top and turn them one after another. Should work. DM if you need help
@@jamesrobert4265 we didn't get mod manager brother , i download from Google but it didn't work , if you have please send me link so I can download from it brother
I bought the game a couple of weeks ago, playing it in mobile is an absolute nightmare in battle's lmao. Ps Help ! How do I streach the Units and rotate what they are facing? This is what I'm having trouble with. Good News though ! I don't have to do the Roman factions at the start to unlock every single faction thank God. Ferral is a blessing now I have Company of Heroes and Rome total war on the Go (mobile)
Yeah that’s disappointing… I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max but I still doubt if it worth downloading? Is it not worth it on a phone and will it run smoothly? I’ve never played the series before but I’ve always wanted to
Why even bother playing this dumbed down version when almost every potato pc and laptop out there can run the original more than fine? I guess it appeals to newcomers though.
it's not dumbed down version of the game, in terms of ui and graphics, it's still present and the same for pc. The only difference is that controllers and ui are reformed for mobile
