Despite him being a good fighter, he was really bad at political strategy and was known for being Ill tempered.

Also for a small bit of context about the Yellow Turban Rebellion. If you want to learn a little bit more about the story and characters I recommend Cody Bonds's videos about them, he explains in short videos, who the characters were in real life and how they are presented in-game and it is genuinely fascinating. This period of Chinese "history" is just very interesting overall with all the drama and great characters. Honestly, I think a lot of people would enjoy watching your reaction to them as well if you were up for it.

The Three Kingdoms is my absolute favorite piece of historical setting as a history buff. It has the scale of WW2 (Not in size, but the time scale compensates for that) combined with the intrigue and politics of the height of the old Roman Empire covering all of Europe. The story typically starts from anywhere between around 140 and lasts until around the year of 270 AD. I'm throwing very vague years because there are SO MANY tellings of this story that start from different points of time, just like the story of WW2 starts from different points depending on the point of view and who's telling the story. Typically all tellings have a tendency to lean heavily on the partially fictional romanticized version, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which was written as a propaganda piece in the 14th century, over 1 000 years AFTER the events took place. The more accurate Documents of the Three Kingdoms however makes for rather dull reading as it's literally just court documents and other personal recordings that have survived the through time collected into one book. Naturally it is still vulnerable to falsifications made at the time to cook the books for tax fraud, and other such things, but it is still the most accurate version we can have, together with physical evidence we can find and dig up of course. To break the main timeline into easily digestable form, I'd present it as such: - 2nd century unified China falls into economical trouble due to corruption, bad harvests and eroding sense of unity. - As a result, the Yellow Turban rebellion breaks out among the peasantry, forcing the weak government to shift more power to local warlords, thus further weakening the central government. - After the rebellion these local warlords refuse to give back the power and control they gained in the process and thus 2 factions form. Those that support the current Emperor and those that want to overthrow him for various reasons. One specific warlord, Dong Zhuo takes advantage of this and takes the Emperor into custody for "protection". - This practically makes the Emperor into a puppet figure to be used in the warlord's favor on all sides. - Conflict, alliances, backstabbing, betrayal, co-operation and other things happen between various factions until Dong Zhuo is eventually killed and 3 major factions stand as hegemons over different parts of China. These are the kingdoms of Wei, Shu and Wu. In the Romance versions of this story, the Shu kingdom is typically seen as the most legitimate one to inherit the Imperial throne, however it is Wei that holds the Emperor and Wu wants to form a new Dynasty altogether. Wei and especially its leader Cao family are typically the main villains taking the place of Napole-Itler in the Romance version. Cao Cao is generally shown to be a practical person, striving for a efficient meritocracy without corruption Shu and its leader Liu family claims to be related to the Emperor and thus having a legitimate claim to the Imperial throne. He and Shu is typically portrayed as the "good guys", rooting its values in traditionalism and nobility. Wu is the second largest kingdom after Wei and lead by the Sun family. The Wu kingdom typically roots its values in the land, family, prosperity and strong navy. These guys are more often neutral, allying with both Shu and Wei to keep themselves safe and to further their goal. One could argue that they are the reason why these Three Kingdoms had such a long, relatively stable "romance" with one another without one being able to gain the ultimate advantage over the other 2. Nothing however lasts forever and as a result we have an over 100 year long historical epic that technically covers multitude of wars bound together into one bigger whole and that's how you get the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. There is a great John Woo movie "Red Cliff", which focuses on just 1 arguably most important battle for the formation of this balance. While it is a great movie, I cannot recommend it for you unless you are at least vaguely familiar with the events and characters from other media as it only has so many hours to set everything up. Since I know you are Game of Thrones fans, I 100% recommend the 2010 Three Kingdoms series. While it doesn't have the budget GoT has, it does have its heart and unlike with GoT, it doesn't lose it towards the end. Best of all, it's been uploaded on RU-vid for free. Here's a playlist to the full series: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tmxJCPxmL7k.html I've personally watched through the entire series at least 5 times by now. Even after this wall of text, I only scratched the surface of all I want to share regarding the Three Kingdoms. It's a topic I could rant for hours upon hours on, but unfortunately very few people know it, or know it well enough to really get that deep into with.

Loved the 2010 version Three Kingdoms as well! The actor portraying Cao Cao did such an amazing performance, he would go on to win an award for it. The story remains very loyal to source materal as well, which was a pleasure to watch. One thing though, "Those that support the current Emperor and those that want to overthrow him for various reasons." The Han Emperors were weak and the courts riddled with corrpution at this time, but no one actually dared to overthrow the Han at this point. In fact, Imperial authority was always strong, even in the decades to come, with warlords as Dong Zhou and later Cao Cao always doing as they did "on orders of the Emperor." The end only came 2 generations later, when Emperor Xian was forced to abdicate by Cao Pi, in 220.

I would add that the Liu clan didn't just claim to be related to the Emperor, they literally were, the ruling clan of the Han Dyansty were the Liu, established by Liu Bang and ending with Liu Xie. Liu Bei was a distant relative of the Emperor, hence why his Kingdom was seen as a continuation of the Han, and considered itself as such, the naming of it as the Shu or Shu-Han is largely a convention to prevent confusion with the collapsed Han Empire
@Caldera01
@Caldera01 11 месяцев назад
@@GamingPenguin4545 Well, that statement predicates on the fact of Liu Bei being Liu Sheng's direct grand-grand-grand son. However, Pei Songzhi's fifth-century commentary, based on the Dianlue (典略), said that Liu Bei was a descendant of the Marquis of Linyi (臨邑侯). That would still make Liu Bei a Liu, but not through Liu Sheng directly. And if that bit wasn't true, what if even Dianlue is propaganda as well and the entire heritage is a hoax? That's the thing with the Three Kingdoms. There is so very little we know for certain. Liu Bei's heritage is not one of those certain things.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms; better translated as Romance of the Three Dynasties; is a romanticized tale of this age where the Han Dynasty ended. There's a lot of back and forth as to the historical value of what could be called a work of historical fiction written a few centuries after the time period it's talking about, but still it's interesting. There's a lot of Confucian ideals, text and subtext to the writing, so people who embody non-confucian ideals (submitting to a patriarchal will/father figure, in this case the imperial line) and the mandate of heaven (heavens will that the ruler rule) are cast as greedy, self-servingly ambitious and heartless like Dong Zhuo (the dude you commented on being massive) and Cao Cao; then you have Liu Bei who was concerned with the well being of the people, humble, smiling, that whole schtick. There's one point where his sworn brother Zhang Fei got drunk when he'd promised Liu Bei he'd look after his castle and stay sober. He lost the castle and offered to end his own life as recompense. Liu Bei stopped him and said something to the effect of "wives and daughters are like clothes, brothers are like arms. I can replace my clothes, but I can't replace my arm." To stop Zhang Fei. It's a fascinating story, lots of games about the story. But as for accuracy? My own personal take is that some of this is probably true, but some things are wildly embellished with the Confucian slant in mind. Cao Cao being fast as a negative force when he was trying to crush the warlords and reconsolidated power at a time when the court culture of Han era China was deeply corrupt and ineffectual probably isn't the wrong call.

In the (educated) discussions on the factual/historical aspects of the history, you pair the RTK (SGYY) with Records of the Three States (SGZ) (ideally including Pei Songzhi's annotations), which is the historical documents drafted at the tail end of the TK period (with the annotations being added about a century or so later from additional records). Granted, there is debate about which parts of the SGZ might be exaggerated, and if Chen Shou was being generous to his original kingdom (Shu(-Han)) or trying to make the progenitor state (Wei) of his current kingdom (Jin) look better or worse, etc... But generally, the SGYY is a fanciful but reasonably historical retelling of the historical TK events as recorded in the SGZ. (Sure, it gets spiced up, and Cao Cao, as the conquering northern guy, gets a little more mustache to twirl (SURELY not to denigrate the glorious Mongol invaders cum Yuan Dynasty, no...) - but the broad and medium strokes essentially much line up.)

6:15 "Fun" story about the guy with the eye patch. His name is Xiahou Dun. In a battle an arrow hit him in the eye. He took the arrow out, with the eye ball and proclaimed that this eye would be some present of his ancestors and swallowed the eye off from the arrow. 7:00 I feel like the trailer kind of does not give the significance to the quote. In the novelisation Cao Cao was fleeing from the capital after failing to assasinate the current protector of the emperor. They (Cao Cao was accompanied by a friend or cousin - I should reread the books) met a friend of Caos father (Lü Boshe) who offered them shelter. In the night Cao Cao heard some noises, of the servants preparing the evening meal. He mistook it however for the servants betraying him, so he went and killed the servants as well as the family being witness on the estate. After realising his mistake, he and his friend flee the premise but meet the friend of Caos father on their way out. There Cao tricks him and kills him as well. When confronted by his companion how the estate was a genuine mistake and this was plain murder, Cao reasoned that when Lü Boshe returns home, he will call Cao Cao out for murdering his family. Here Cao said "I'd rather do wrong to others than allow them to do wrong to me!", which is typically rephrased to "I rather betray the world than have the world betray me". 22:40 Lu Bu is an interesting story how power does not equal power. His greatest weakness was probably naivity? Lu Bu was easily swayed by Dong Zhuo to betray his foster father with the promise of Red Hare - a rather famous horse (there was the saying "Among men, Lu Bu. Among horses, Red Hare"). Then, during Dong Zhuos reign one retainer used his daughter, to wich Lu Bu found a liking, to sow distrust between the two. He gave his daughter to Lu Bu in marriage in secret while making Dong Zhuo think he should take the daughter. Enraged by this Lu Bu kills Dong Zhuo and frees his wife. But Lu Bu was a warrior. He was quite sheit in regards of management. Fast forward a bit and about 3 dozen alliances and betrayals later, Lu Bu himself was betrayed by a retainer and he was brought in chains in front of Cao Cao. Here he offered his services to Cao Cao, who considered. But Liu Bei, then ally to Cao, advised against this due to Lus history of betrayals - no less than two foster fathers did he kill. And as such, Lu Bu, the supposedly strongest man of the Kingdom was killed. Note that the novel versions of the story are of course quite embelished, but key parts like "Xiahou Dun gets hit in the eye" "Cao Cao killing a family in supposed self defence" or "Lu Bu betraying everyone there is to betray" have a supposedly true core. I would recomend the novel if I knew a neat way to consume it. The novel I have are 4 smallish books with even smaller print on paper that feels like it would break apart at any moment and are somewhat difficult to read since they throw alot of names around for the same person (since apparently people have different names towards family, friends and strangers) without any annotation. The Dynasty Warriors games are a neat appetizer, but obviously strike out a lot of things and add their own embellishments instead. There is the 2010 chinese TV series "Three Kingdoms" with 95 episodes à 45 minutes. I thought that was an enjoyable watch. And it is even available subbed on RU-vid.
@Sephiroth144
@Sephiroth144 Год назад
寧我負人,毋人負我! Cao Cao's companion (in the RTK (SGYY)) was Chen Gong, who met him while he was imprisoned, (he got caught fleeing from his attempt on Dong Zhuo); Gong was impressed by his loyalty to the Han, freed him and traveled with him to Lü Boshe's home (a friend of his father). (This would be the same Chen Gong who joined Lu Bu as an advisor later; if you remember the guy who refused to surrender when Zhang Liao did? That guy.) Now, it should be noted this account is fictionalized. According to the SGZ (specifically the Wei Shu, i.e., Wei Dynasty Histories): Cao Cao foresaw that Dong Zhuo was doomed to failure so he refused to accept Dong's appointment and escaped back to his hometown. He was accompanied by a few horsemen and they passed by Chenggao (near present-day Xingyang, Henan) on the journey. There lived Lü Boshe, an acquaintance of Cao Cao; but Lü Boshe was not at home at that time. His sons and other guests attempted to rob Cao Cao of his horse and personal belongings. Cao Cao killed several of them. Now, whether Chen Shou made the incident with Boshe's family sound better towards Cao Cao, or Luo Guanzhong made it sound worse, as two of SGZ's annotations lean much closer to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms account. (The Zaji (which sourced one of these annotations), stated: Cao Cao heard the sounds of cooking utensils (likely knives) and suspected that Lü Boshe's family was plotting to harm him, so he killed them first and fled that night. Afterwards, he cold-hearted remarked, "I'd rather do wrong to others than allow them to do wrong to me!" He then continued on his journey.)

Zheng Jiang, the Bandit Queen, is actually my favorite faction leader in Three Kingdoms. She's got a fairly challenging start, due to her being an Outlaw,. On an interesting Side-Note, the history of china is filled with fascinating characters, while Zheng Jiang is purely fictional, I really say people should look up Ching Shih, a literal pirate Queen who at one point in time had a fleet at her disposal of around 1800 ships. And yes, that pirate is an actual historical person. Chinese, or East-Asian / Indian history is sadly still widely neglected by our western school systems. Even though it is fascinating and full of important historical events.

DLC names stuff, I guess. "Mandate of Heaven" basically means approval of the gods for the rulers to well, rule. That's why the kings/emperors of China dynasties are also called Child of the Gods. "A World Betrayed" references Cao Cao's quote, aka 3:53 guy, "I'd rather betray the world than let the world betray me." "Yellow Turban Rebellion" is basically one of the major factions of the game, also appeared historically, the angry civilians who have taken up arms to fight against the oppressing Han Dynasty. "The Furious Wild" is basically the Nanman Tribes which are often described to be...barbaric and savage "does not eat grain, but lives on serpents and venomous beasts", "rides upon an elephant and is attended by tigers, leopards, wolves, venomous snakes, and scorpions", y'know crazy tribal stuff that people invent.

And the thing is what unlike Warhammer this is actually based on real events (well sort I think they're mostly using Romance of the Three Kingdoms as a source and that's a later fictionalized retelling of the events), this game is based on period in ancient china from 220 to 280 (roughly) though also refers to earlier events (by 220 the Yellow Turbans were pretty much defeated with only few pockets remaining), but also later as War of the Eight Princes was from 291 to 306. The three Kingdoms period was the period of civil war that ended Han dynasty in Ancient china, though the Eight Princes DLC depicts a later rebellion during the Jin Dynasty that followed the Han (not really a spoiler as this is literally ancient history). The lady with the twin axes is mostly a fictional character though, IIRC her name is mentioned in the source material but that's it, with CA making up her personality and role in the events. Also while associated with certain animals none of the Chinese characters commanded animals in battle, that being what the Nanman the people in the first trailer did, oh and just to note "nanman" is what the Chinese called them and it translates roughly as "southern barbarians" so obviously these people didn't call themselves that and are believed to be the ancestors of several minority people in modern southern china. If you want to know more the articles on Wikipedia seem fairly accurate, just search "three kingdoms" or "eight princes" and it should lead to the right ones.

I haven't played this, but I know the 3 kingdoms really well. In short. It was the Han dynasty and the Yellow Turbans, which were mainly peasants rebelled. Rebellion quelled. Dong Zhou (fat guy) takes control, burns down the capital protected by Lu Bu (2 feathers on his head). One does not simply pursue Lu Bu. A coalition forms involving the 3 people would later form the 3 Kingdoms takes him down. Cao Cao forms Wei dominating the North. Sun Jian the tiger finds the Imperial seal in well and is already a prefect of Jiangdong. When he dies his son Sun Ce know as the little conqueror takes over the mid-south east within months officially forming the kingdom of Wu. He also dies early. Wu is mainly led by his younge brother Sun Quan. Liu Bei with his sworn brothers Guan Yu (who is now the Chinese patron Saint of war) and Zhange Fei are practically nomads, but the people LOVE Liu Bei. He is eventually persuaded to take up land and conquers the mid-south west as the kingdom of Shu. I'm ASSUMING the tigers and elephants were Shu's southern campaign against the tribes led by Meng Huo who's a total daddy. The tribes swear allegiance to Shu. The guy with the eye patch in the one trailer is Xiahou Dun, cousin of Cao Cao. He ate his own eye. An internal power struggle takes place in Wei after Cao Cao and his son Cao Pi's deaths with the Sima clan taking rule over the Cao. Wei wins.

I love the Three Kingdoms era. These games are based a lot more the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" novels, which are basically historical fiction, rather than a true rendition of the historical events (in particular, it lionized the warriors of the Kingdom of Shu, whole demonizing Cao Cao and turning him into the villain of the story, when he wasn't necessarily any worse than any of the other warlords of the era). But the major events of the novels (and thus the various games based on them) did at least echo history for the most part. Some of the characters, however, are wholly fictional. And/or they're an amalgamation of several historical individuals. Zheng Jiang, the girl with the axes, is sadly fictional. Although there was a woman named Wang Yi who did fight in battle and waged an extensive campaign against a warlord named Ma Chao after he murdered her husband and son. In an era where gender roles were very strict and women were not expected to be on the battlefield, she basically said: "Screw you, imma kill this guy." The second trailer that you liked featured Cao Cao (the guy in red with the hooded helmet that you see a lot - one of the most important men of the era, who would eventually become the most powerful man in China) and Yuan Shao. Yuan Shao created a coalition to overthrow Dhong Zhao (the fat guy in armour that you also see several times) who had taken over the capital, named himself Chancelor, and held the Emperor as a puppet. The coalition was meant to overthrow Dhong Zhao and reinstate the Emperor, but the moment Dhong Zhao fled the capital, the coalition collapsed and all the various Warlords started to plot to fill the power vacum. Cao Cao - as hinted at in the trailer - led a solo charge to try and capture Dhong Zhao and rescue the Emperor. His attempt probably would have been successful, but the coalition didn't support him and he suffered heavy losses. This event effectively ended the friendship between Cao Cao and Yuan Shou and, a few years later, they would battle for control of Northern China. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Cao Cao would win a heroic victory and become the most powerful man in the country. The 'Emperor' and his general are Dhong Zhou and Lu Bu. Lu Bu was Dhong Zhao's adopted son (Lu Bu murdered his previous adopted father to show his loyalty to Dhong Zhao). Lu Bu would later murder Dhong Zhao as well. In the books, he murdered him over a woman. In the real history it's a little more ambiguous; fractures had appeared in their relationship for several years, and Lu Bu was likely convinced by court officials to murder Dhong Zhao and restore the Emperor for the promise of reward. Lu Bu would go on to try and form his own kingdom, but was ultimately defeated and executed by Cao Cao.

The best thing about this game is that the world is really alive. A leader is also a father who protects his family and responds should anything happen to them. In one battle, my faction leader was overcome with grief when his son was killed, he immediately stopped the current fight just to ride after his son's killers to kill them all. But also politically, the family is the most important thing if you have 8 children, they want to be well married and the succession is regulated, otherwise civil wars can break out.

Three kingdoms was one of those games that was so different from their previous releases that it had a lot of potential with it. You weren't just playing an RTS but a whole rpg. Your main character can die in battle and you have to make a successor ready in that case. But you also had dueling during big battles and had loads of cool characters to play. There was also espionage and sabotage and loads more that isn't in any of their other games.

So, a few notes about Chinese history (far from being that cult about it, but anyway): - In general, the Three Kingdoms period in China has many myths around it, and even some historical and accurate reports sounds mythical. But, in general, war is ramping around because some imperial bureaucrat thought it was a good idea to create fake news about a warlord (Dong Zhuo, bearded fat dude) wanting to make a coup. Dong Zhuo comes to the capital for a visit, then imperial people panic, put a fire to everything and the imperial heirs (two boys at the time) flee in panic. Dong Zhuo then takes the boys as hostages and takes the power to himself since capital is a fiery mess right now. A HUGE series of battles follows, and that is what is about "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms". All these warlords are top tier strategists that grew up reading The Art of War and have it engraved in their bones. So, being considered a top strategist at this time is serious business. - Cao Cao, the guy in red and black that plays go against Yuen Chao at first, is generally painted in a bad light, for his personal motto is the final phrase of his trailer: "I'll betray the world before allowing the world to betray me". But he is incredibly cunning and smart. Even when fighting against many generals of (supposedly) equal talent (such as the trinity Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei), he makes them sweat. The guy that shows up to play against him in the final scene is Liu Bei. Former ally and then enemy of Cao Cao. The guy has some knack for fighting against former allies. -One of his generals, Xihao Dun, also shows in this trailer, wearing a patch-eye. Once, he fought against Cao Cao, but was hit by an arrow to the eye. He then pulls the arrow with his eye on it out and says something in the lines of: "This is my flesh. I can not let it go". And then eats his own eye. Yes. He is that bad ass. - Lu Bu is a man said that no other man could defeat by himself, so good he was in combat. He appears firstly in the first trailer, serving Dong Zhuo and fighting against Guan Yu (green guy with a halberd) and Zhang Fei (red guy with a snake-like spear). After a smart plot of a politician, that sends his daughter to serve as Dong Zhuo's concubine. Lu Bu had a previous fame of betraying their commanders, and Lu Bu actually fell in love by the young lady. Then, he kills his lord for that. I think he served Cao Cao after some time too. There are many many cool histories (some of them in RU-vid) about this time period. Many of them are brutal and violent, but amazing anyway.

There were only three actual most important characters to know, Cao Cao (曹操), Liu Bei (劉備) and Sun Quan (孫權), because these three are the ones to declare Emperor this forming the three kingdoms, I know that Cao Cao did not declare to the Emperor himself but... He declared his son the Emperor, nothing changes, and every person that each of them met are all either unforgettable or just trash.

They don't seem to be well-versed in the 3 Kingdoms story. It is evident as they seem to not realise who the characters are and what they represent. Like they didn't seem to have much of a reaction when they saw the iconic 3 Sworn Brothers in the Peach Garden scene, along with them fighting Lu Bu. Lu Bu was the strongest warrior and general in the 3 Kingdom Era, and possibly throughout Ancient China history, period. The 3 Sworn Brothers were mighty warriors in their own right, Guan Yu the God of War had been undefeated throughout his life as a warrior and general and Zhang Fei was a man who can hold off 1000 men by himself on a bridge to buy time for his fellow comrades to escape and still survive the whole ordeal. Not even 2 of these badasses working together with synergy as sworn brothers can defeat Lu Bu. They were only able to get a draw when Liu Bei also joined the fight and Lu Bu retreated from being outnumbered. Lu Bu also fought and killed various generals and warriors before facing the 3 Brothers so he was also starting to get tired. 3 vs 1 who was tired and it was only a draw. It is unfortunate that Lu Bu was a traitorous person without any loyalty and had only his own self-interest at heart. If he had only not backstabbed Liu Bei and remained grateful and loyal to Liu Bei for agreeing to take him in when no one else would, the Shu country would have probably conquered the entire 3 Kingdoms before Sima Yi could even make an entrance. With Zhuge Liang's genius + Lu Bu, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhang Liao and Zhao Yun's might + Liu Bei's right of claim to the throne and virtuous charisma, Cao Cao and Sun Quan wouldn't have stood a chance.

Total War games are odd...you can actually tell what CA think about them by the quality of the videos.... Three Kingdoms are decent but somehow a little empty and one dimensional... same as the game. Whereas if you take Medievil or Shogun, they put TONS of effort into the depth and playability of them. These videos are good looking but if you changed the faces, the characters are interchangable... Middling game for middling effort of story.
@ethanl868
@ethanl868 Год назад
If you think the characters are "interchangeable," then it's clear you are not a fan of the Three Kingdoms period history or the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. As a game, TW:3K can be hard to get into without having lots of background knowledge of the history and figures involved, but if you have that background, it really is an amazing portrayal of one of the most fascinating moments in history (IMO). CA actually did a great job of capturing the essence and spirit of the times with their game, and that translated into small details in their trailer that really elevated them. For example, all the BG music was song versions of famous classical Chinese poems that are related to the theme of the "story" in each trailer. Another even smaller but thus more impressive detail was the chess board between Cao Cao and Yuan Shao - it's a recreation of a recorded chess match from hundreds of years ago that reflects the strategy that Cao Cao used to defeat Yuan Shao. CA put a ton of care and attention to the trailers and TW:3K as a whole. It's also why so many people actually really loved the trailers and thought they were some of the best CA has ever done. I will admit, in this case I have an advantage (and also a bias) in that I am Chinese and these figures and tales are quintessential to Chinese culture and broader East Asian culture as a whole (notably Korea, Japan, and Vietnam). But I am pleased with how many Westerners or people who are not culturally linked to the Three Kingdoms have come to study and enjoy the history and legends around it, thanks to games and films.
@grantpaterson1016
@grantpaterson1016 Год назад
@@ethanl868 You mistake your own bias for my intent. The characters ARE interchangable as they made the GAMEPLAY that way. You seem triggered by the history, while I am talking about the game and the gameplay. Please don't infer cultural bias/indifference on me when I am talking about a childrens video game.... Almost every video was exactly the same and, in fact, were themselves a little insensitive. I am also not unread regarding the real Three Kingdoms period but real history was not my review... It seems you are seeking validation for something you want to talk about and have tried to find a link in my words to direct that frustration....even in the wrong direction as you have done this time. You may wish to re-read my post and you will see I do not talk about culture/history/China and it is a little offensive that you have tried to cast me as some 'insensitive bigot' when in fact it is you, by your lashing out, that is that very thing. Stop looking for someone to attack by INVENTING avenues that don't exist. Three Kingdoms was okay, it was not great...hence why it is now another Thrones left by the wayside.
@grantpaterson1016
@grantpaterson1016 Год назад
@@ethanl868 Oh and as 'a game', history does not matter...the gameplay does. It seems you might be enjoying this game ONLY because of the boost from your historical interest and not the game itself. A game is good or bad based on the gameplay, not some bias of validation. I never lived in the Medievil period but loved Medievil 2...I never lived in the Shogun period but loved Shogun and Shogun 2 because of the GAMEPLAY, not some ethereal need to live in a fantasy vicariously through a video game. I also never lived in the Warhammer world but oddly, I don't need to to enjoy a well made GAME...with great GAMEPLAY.
