"The empire long divided must unite; the empire long united, must divide. " Good job to CA for adding that in the trailer as it is literally the first line of the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The lyrics on the beginning is 十五从军征，八十始得归 (I joined the army to fight when I was 15, and finally I returned home at my 80s.). It is the first sentence of the original poem 十五从军征，八十始得归。 道逢乡里人：家中有阿谁？ 遥看是君家，松柏冢累累。 兔从狗窦入，雉从梁上飞。 中庭生旅谷，井上生旅葵。 舂谷持作饭，采葵持作羹。 羹饭一时熟，不知贻阿谁！ 出门东向看，泪落沾我衣。 I joined the army to fight when I was 15, and finally I returned home at my 80s. Asking my neighbour in the past: Is there anyone still in my home? The neighbour says: The tombs there, surrounded by pine trees and cypresses used to be your house. When I take a closer look, I find that hares go in and out through holes left for dogs, and pheasants take off from the roof. In my yard grew the wild millet, and on my well sprouted the wild mallow. I cook some meal with the millet and mallow, a bowl of rice, and soup. The meal is done, but there is nobody I can share it with! I walk outdoors, and my tear drops on my clothes when I'm staring at the east. This is my own work of translation :) maybe there are some minor mistakes but generally I think you can understand what the poem tries to express: the horror of war and the terrible pain that ordinary people suffer. In this poem, the scenes of war are not mentioned, however, the author uses a veteran's story to show us how lasting wars and military service system in ancient China destroys people's happiness.

During the collapse of Han Dynasty, many males were forced to join the local military and it was very common that other warlords burned or captured their hometowns before these peasants returned to their hometowns.

This article describes the tragic scene of an old soldier who was homeless after returning to his hometown, and exposed the suffering caused by the military service system to the working people at that time.

For those of you who wonder what the BGM singer is singing, it was the starting lines of a old poem called “Drafted As A Fifteen-year old”. It was written around Han to Three Kingdoms. His house abandoned for so long that wild grain and vegetable grow around it. The veteran collected the wild grain and vegetable for cooking, but when done, he realized he has no one else to call for a family meal. The veteran crys to the thought and wets his clothes with tear. The only minor critique/nitpick I have for this trailer is the scene with Cao Cao. Since this happened during the time Dong Zhuo had the young emperor, Cao Cao is still only a minor minister/warlord and would most definitely NOT have an actual palace with dragon coiled pillars. It would have been more fitting if he went inside an army camp.

I'm looking forward to all the scenarios, The Yellow Turban Rebellion, Alliance against Dong Zhuo, Battle of Red Cliffs. Cao Cao and Yuan Shao facing off in the north, Sun Ce Conquering the Wu Territory oh in gonna do like 60 playthroughs of this

CA: "Ok, the heroes system of Warhammer Fantasy is nice but the History-nerds demand we return to a historical setting." CA: "What historical setting has overpowered heroes setting alone to challenge other heroes and kill thousands of men in the process I wonder..."

10/10 would have the Yellow Turban Rebellion as a DLC. :D Great historical period anyway.

I'm more excited about China: Total War than any previous title. I didn't think it would be done.

China is a perfect setting for total war and an under appreciated area in history! I personally excited for the three kingdoms!

You can tell Total War: Warhammer has boosted some much needed funds into CA. Total War Britannia, Three Kingdoms, as well as all the support for Warhammer 2. They've really stepped it up a notch!

During my youth, I played almost all the Dynasty Warrior games, it was my life, from those games I learned so much about the war of the three kingdoms and it is an epic tale indeed, now my all time favourite strategy game franchise is teaming up with my favourite game of my childhood, or the story at least. Yes i just came in my pants.

Considering that Ancient China was just endless, brutal wars for centuries with armies in the millions, this is going to be fucking dope!

The lyric in this BGM is awesome! Is an ancient ballad which named《十五从军行》（Join the army when I was 15)，it was written in 1st century. Contents a soldier who serve in army for 65 years, when he was 80 the army finally allowed himself came home.But when he came back, he can’t found his home, and when he finally arrived his “home “(by ask address),he found everything was changed and everyone he knows was dead, the house was empty, no body was there, in the garden, he can only founds wild rice and mallows. He collected all the rice and mallows, cook it. Those food was cooked quite well & fast , but no people will share with him anymore. He walked out, been cried silently... Great game, weakened by buggy dlc's, abandoned by the developer for little to no reason, and as a veteran of video gaming for over 20 years all I can say is this if the first game I can truly say became less in every iteration via dlc compared to it's launch. Such a shame, Such regret, Shame on CA for their fatuous manifestation of the future of such greatness.

Remember when my friend once said "u think the scale of samurai battles were epic? they were just skirmishes of a few thousand compared to the hundreds of thousands during the 3 Kingdoms Era, and this was a good 1500 years before." If this kinda scale is gonna be recreated, I'm gonna need a new computer...

This literally make me cry, as my childhood grew up with Romance of The Three kingdoms from KOEI back in 1992, and makes me read the novel, to learn more about three kingdoms period, and as long time fans of total war series since shogun 1, this one is like dreams come true!!!!

I dont know how theyre going to interpret the heroes. Lu Bu had to be captured while he blacked out drunk, cause in lore he was a one man killing machine. Zhang Fei was killed in his sleep, cause he was held a bridge single handedly against Cao Cao's pursuit forces. Xiahou Dun took an arrow into his eye in the middle of battle, pulled out said arrow with his eye and ate it, before yelling at his men to continue the charge.

Nice, used to love playing the Dynasty Warriors series growing up so this should be great! Also trying to get more attractive to the Chinese market?

as a Rome total war fan and player since 2005 and a dynasty warriors player from ps2 (first game dynasty warriors 3), i gotta say....i LOVE this.

That sequence at the end is straight from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. When Lu Bu (who serves the fat guy), appears for the first time to the Three brothers (the spear, glaive and sword), Zhang Fei the spear guy charges first but gets stomped. The glaive, Guan Yu, then runs to gank Lu Bu and also gets stomped. Even when the sword, Liu Bei, joined in it was a stalemate. Love that nod to the lore CA!

Wow this new Dynasty Warriors game seems to have really taken a different turn, hasn't it? Ooh wait, sorry, misunderstood, this is the newest Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and it looks awesome too. (Jokes aside, this trailer is amazing and the hype is real.)

I have stated since Shogun 2 (2011) that Total War needs to do a game on Ancient China. I argued the Official Forums, Commented on Videos and told all my friends the merrits of such a game for years. I can't help but this is in a small part a fruit of my labors. It's an exciting period. And not a well understood one by the masses. How many Total War games have quoted Sun Tzu all the while never being represented by one of the great Grand Strategy Franchises in PC Gaming.

Will be interesting to see how CA intends to diversify the units of different lords/factions. Some factions have well-known expertise like Sun family will be better at naval and the Ma family will be better at calvary (not just because their surname is Ma). But its not enough just to add bonuses, else it will end up as another Shogun II. Unique units will be good. Like the Nanman tribes might have access to elephant units and the Sun family have unique naval units and Liu can have access to repeating crossbow units (although that will be high up in the tech tree since its invented by Kong Min)
