For those of you who wonder what the BGM singer is singing, it was the starting lines of a old poem called “Drafted As A Fifteen-year old”. 十五從軍征，八十始得歸。 道逢鄉里人：家中有阿誰？ 遙望是君家，松柏冢累累。 兔從狗竇入，雉從梁上飛。 中庭生旅穀，井上生旅葵。 舂穀持作飯，采葵持作羹。 羹飯一時熟，不知貽阿誰！ 出門東向看，淚落沾我衣。 In Traditional Chinese Font version. This article describes the tragic scene of an old soldier who was homeless after returning to his hometown, and exposed the suffering caused by the military service system to the working people at that time.

1:32 I love how Guan Yu knowingly and habitually puts out his arm to stop the predictably brash Zhang Fei. It is such a small detail lasting for less than a second but it tells so much about their brotherly relationship and goes to show that the devs have done their research - they know their stuff.

In this poem, the scenes of war are not mentioned, however, the author uses a veteran's story to show us how lasting wars and military service system in ancient China destroys people's happiness.

During the collapse of Han Dynasty, many males were forced to join the local military and it was very common that other warlords burned or captured their hometowns before these peasants returned to their hometowns.

Imagine being a normal soldier on the battlefield and you get ordered to attack Lu Bu, "Hell no, I blinked and that guy killed 5 people!"

During my youth, I played almost all the Dynasty Warrior games, it was my life, from those games I learned so much about the war of the three kingdoms and it is an epic tale indeed, now my all time favourite strategy game franchise is teaming up with my favourite game of my childhood, or the story at least. Yes i just came in my pants.

As a Chinese. Three Kingdoms has been my favorite part of Chinese History. Also as a big fan of the Total war series. Im literally crying right now

Great game, weakened by buggy dlc's, abandoned by the developer for little to no reason, and as a veteran of video gaming for over 20 years all I can say is this if the first game I can truly say became less in every iteration via dlc compared to it's launch. Such a shame, Such regret, Shame on CA for their fatuous manifestation of the future of such greatness.

I dont know how theyre going to interpret the heroes. Lu Bu had to be captured while he blacked out drunk, cause in lore he was a one man killing machine. Zhang Fei was killed in his sleep, cause he was held a bridge single handedly against Cao Cao's pursuit forces. Xiahou Dun took an arrow into his eye in the middle of battle, pulled out said arrow with his eye and ate it, before yelling at his men to continue the charge.

10 months since i watched this, and towards the end it still makes me smile, this was my childhood story, my chinese equivalent to the english's Harry Potter

The only minor critique/nitpick I have for this trailer is the scene with Cao Cao. Since this happened during the time Dong Zhuo had the young emperor, Cao Cao is still only a minor minister/warlord and would most definitely NOT have an actual palace with dragon coiled pillars. It would have been more fitting if he went inside an army camp.

Will be interesting to see how CA intends to diversify the units of different lords/factions. Some factions have well-known expertise like Sun family will be better at naval and the Ma family will be better at calvary (not just because their surname is Ma). But its not enough just to add bonuses, else it will end up as another Shogun II. Unique units will be good. Like the Nanman tribes might have access to elephant units and the Sun family have unique naval units and Liu can have access to repeating crossbow units (although that will be high up in the tech tree since its invented by Kong Min)

Good on you creative assembly, total war, and whoever had the idea to finally make a game in China! I can't wait to see what you guys have in store (although making three games at once isn't the best option in my opinion) I really hope this game lives up or at least close to the hype and have some fun interesting michanics

I hope the heroes will be featured as buffed-up general/bodyguard units with some in-battle/strategic map traits rather than single-model entities like in Total War Warhammer. Maybe make Lu Bu have a friendly morale buff and enemy fear aura but not any strategic benefits b/c Lu Bu wasn't known to be a strategist, while perhaps making Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi not so strong as a combat unit but grant increased army movement range in the strategic map, reduced ability cooldown for units in their armies, or a much larger deployment zone or option to partially pre-deploy reinforcing armies at the beginning of battles to reflect their tactical and strategic genius.

I have stated since Shogun 2 (2011) that Total War needs to do a game on Ancient China. I argued the Official Forums, Commented on Videos and told all my friends the merrits of such a game for years. I can't help but this is in a small part a fruit of my labors. It's an exciting period. And not a well understood one by the masses. How many Total War games have quoted Sun Tzu all the while never being represented by one of the great Grand Strategy Franchises in PC Gaming.

China is a perfect setting for total war and an under appreciated area in history! I personally excited for the three kingdoms!

You can tell Total War: Warhammer has boosted some much needed funds into CA. Total War Britannia, Three Kingdoms, as well as all the support for Warhammer 2. They've really stepped it up a notch!

This is the most beautiful game trailer I've ever seen. Koei can only dream about doing this with DW games. And I played every DW game that was ever released. Wow.

Highly expecting this epic game. Please make it right and amazing. Koei should have been challenged a long time ago. The real historical background is so deep, I learnt a lot of life-long lessons from the book that serves me so well for 3.5 decades. Many characters even low ranked advisers were very noble and honest to their beliefs and end up died in the saddest yet most meaningful ways.A lot of Japanese and Chinese gamers love 3KD . Really love more and more games from different angles coming out to give us some new experience of this age. This can easily be a new great series of TW if done right.Hope Autumn comes sooner!!!

Dynasty warriors got me into this part of Chinese History. Been playing since DW2.

Swear i've been waitin for this ever since i played Shogun 2.... Remember when my friend once said "u think the scale of samurai battles were epic? they were just skirmishes of a few thousand compared to the hundreds of thousands during the 3 Kingdoms Era, and this was a good 1500 years before." If this kinda scale is gonna be recreated, I'm gonna need a new computer...

This trailer was beautiful. It got me choked up seeing this. I never played any Total War game, but this one got me interested.

I've been waiting for THIS GAME for my whole life, DW4 was one of my first PS2 games and I feel in love with all things Three Kingdoms, and I started with TW at Medieval 1 and this THIS GAME HAS BEEN IN MY HEAD FOR 15 years!!!!! THOU WE ARE BROTHERS BORN ON DIFFRENT DAYS WE SWEAR AN OATH TO DIE THE SAME DAY OF THE SAME MONTH OF THE SAME YEAR!!!!!!

This literally make me cry, as my childhood grew up with Romance of The Three kingdoms from KOEI back in 1992, and makes me read the novel, to learn more about three kingdoms period, and as long time fans of total war series since shogun 1, this one is like dreams come true!!!!

People have been asking for this since the Rome Total War mod Three Kingdoms...and here it finally is! :-D

Contents a soldier who serve in army for 65 years, when he was 80 the army finally allowed himself came home.But when he came back, he can’t found his home, and when he finally arrived his “home “(by ask address),he found everything was changed and everyone he knows was dead, the house was empty, no body was there, in the garden, he can only founds wild rice and mallows. He collected all the rice and mallows, cook it. Those food was cooked quite well & fast , but no people will share with him anymore. He walked out, been cried silently... As I have said before, this game is a dream come true. my favorite ages in history for strategy games are sengoku jidai and the three kingdoms. God you guys made a dream come true for reals.

I know it's an art design thing but I love how a western developer makes the Chinese Look more Asian than Dynasty Warriors ever did.

I hope they release the soundtracks and that it includes "At Fifteen I Joined the Army on Expedition", I didn't understand it when I heard it the first time, but when I read the translated lyrics, it is such an amazingly touching song that brought me to tears, please CA make it happen.
