@StarsDie88
@StarsDie88 3 года назад
The guitarists were Dave Murray and Adrian Smith and the drummer was Nicko McBrain. Smith and Murray always have those awesome duels. It's also interesting how the song kicks off and you say how it has a 'classic Maiden sound' -- considering that this is one of the few albums of theirs that had heavy synths in it. This one (Somewhere In Time 1986) and Seventh Son of Seventh Son (1988) are the 2 albums where they went proggy and synthy. So even despite the immediate synth opening, they really did retain an obviously identifiable sound.
@joeltowner953

synthy... but not keyboards. they used guitar synths. midi linked guitars creating a digital sound.

I was gonna comment about that album cover. I thought it was dope as hell. If I seen it on a shirt, I'd cop it. When I bought Tasha her Maiden shirt I only seen mark of the beast. The trooper and the killers album cover tees.
@StarsDie88
@StarsDie88 3 года назад
Yeah those are the most common ones. I had to dive deep into a search to find a Somewhere In Time shirt. The cool thing about that album cover, is that if you look closely you see a bunch of references to their previous songs and albums in it. Like the pyramid and the doomsday clock referencing Powerslave, and the street being "22 Acacia Avenue" which was a song off of Number of the Beast. All kinds of cool stuff like that.

This song single handedly changed my life. It may not objectively be the best Maiden album but it's my all time favorite album. Not just Maiden but favorite album period. This album was MY introduction into Iron Maiden and they've been my favorite band ever since. But more than that finding this album, way back in time now, informed me that there was so much more music, and far better music, out there that wasn't on the radio, on MTV or top 40 charts. It opened the rabbit hole to find bands that are phenomenal and don't get the credit they rightfully deserve because they go their own way. Decades later and I have yet to reemerge from said rabbit hole Iron Maiden showed me. And I never will.

nice classic maiden choice. i agree 100% with the ppl that say this is underrated. this album has magnific tone in its solos. solos are the parts i prefer the most to decide if i listen something or not and classic maiden is gold even if you think that theyre not shredding at all, they dont need to they just press the correct note in the correct moment and that counts x100000000 more than fast stuff to nowhere. i talk as a guitar player and i absolute admire shredders and virtuoso players. also maiden are shredders dont misunderstand me
